and they only surrendered cus they ran out of ammo for literally everything
What about the one where one side only like 8 guys died and the other side thousands
What exactly did "free white persons" in the 1790 Naturalization Act mean? Could the Irish become citizens? Italians? Greeks? Poles? Finns? North Africans? Jews?
I see a lot of people claiming now that "white" back then only meant North Western europeans but that does not sound right to me.
>>3247142
As with many things in early US law, depends on who you ask, pissing contests about who and who isn't white are as old as the classification's existence.
>>3247149
But surely it wasn't just random. It wasn't like half the judges would decide an Italian wasn't white and half the judges would say that he was. There had to be some kind of consensus around that time.

anglo saxons, scottish, dutch, germans and scandis I think. and preferably protestant as well.
How do historians determine if someone died a virgin? Maybe they were just good at hiding their affairs.
You can never know for certain, though unless you want to get into actuarial science, if all the evidence points towards one thing it was probably true.
>>3246591
Remember Englands Virgin Queen was just a lesbian pedophile and probably a pagan too.
>>3246591
A Virgin? Newton?
No fucking way a man with his IQ was a virgin, virgin = ugly = low IQ

This. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ truly did change everything. He united the Arabs and showed the world we were stronger than all other nations. If the (((US))) and Israel stopped keeping us divided we would destroy everyone else, America nor the Russians would stand a chance. Dar al-Islam will one day return.
The Founding Fathers we're God's own agents to create His kingdom on Earth. The current government is the Antichrist sent to undo it all

Why were the people who settled the Western Frontier of the USA overwhelmingly Anglo-American? Wouldn't this demographic already be comfortably landed on the East Coast?
With the expansion of American territory into the west, vast areas of land were available for farming, ranching, and development for next to nothing in price, or were even free after the Homestead Act. People always have the need to explore, expand, and just try for a better life somewhere else.
And don't forget, there was gold and silver in them hills! What young man wouldn't at least dream of a chance to escape the boring, settled life back east and head into the frontier to strike it rich?
>>3245711
But why weren't German or Slav immigrants going there?
>>3245693
wat. the only anglos who moved west were mormons

Pretty much everything that is wrong about Gibbon can be excused by the fact that he was writing in the 18th century.
>>3245644
>be closer in time to events you are writing about
>STILL fucks it up
How does this even happen?
>>3245696
>Being closer in time means that you're more accurate
Only if you were actually, physically present at the event, or you have the ability to interview people who were. Otherwise, being closer in time is actually a disadvantage because it means you don't have access to modern archeology.
Why were the British so outrageously cruel to the Irish? I had no idea that the Irish were so ruthlessly oppressed until reading this. Irish could be jailed or killed for expressing their native culture in any way, for playing traditional Irish sports, for speaking the Irish language, for playing Irish music, for telling stories of their ancestors, for displaying traditional artworks, for inter-marrying with English women, for owning any expensive horses, or even for attending the wrong churches. I thought Britain was supposed to be a land of tolerance, why would they do such a thing?

Don't worry but this isn't another /pol/ thread
But seriously, did "rags on stick" torches exist? You know, the kind which they most used in historica movies? I mean, it seems to be a highly inefficient lighting considering you'd use up it's fuel pretty quick.
You're better off bearing a cheap clay oil lamp around or, as these people show, a lamp on a stick.
>>3245287
The "rag" isn't actually the fuel source on those old-timey torches. Said rag was actually soaked in a variety of slow burning substances that were what actually made the torch useful. The cloth was merely a medium to hold the fuel.
why are they all making those stupid fucking faces
>>3245919
They were probably chanting "You will not replace us" and whoever published the picture freeze-framed on the "you" to make them look stupid. Not that they needed the help.
This region should have been abolished the same way the Allies abolished Prussia
Slaves should've gotten some form of reparations and good land out West.
Southern aristocracy and military leadership should've been executed.
Your average citizen/grunt should've been re-integrated back into the Union, though.
>>3245048
>Slaves should've gotten some form of reparations and good land out West.
No. They should have broken up the big plantations and gave them their own land where they lived, in the South.
>hurr stupid hicks fuck off

When are we going to get a miniseries about the Napoleonic Wars from Austria's perspective?
>Miraculously held the line against the Grande Armee at its height
>Great arc about the Imperial Army learning from its mistakes and rallying to form a fighting force that could match Napoleon in the field
>Background politics of squabbling in the Royal family that crippled the war effort, but eventually got its shit together while putting the Army High Command in its place
>Having to deal with Russians as their only ally after Prussia, (when the walls) fell and Britain abandoning the continent
Would be kino
>the absolute state of Austria

Napoleon btfo'd everyone during the 3rd coalition (except the br*ts at sea of course)
And Austria took on Napoleon on her own and did pretty well, giving Napoleon his first real defeat
