thats actually pretty nice.
As a huge fan of the 1050 family that's actually real neat.
I look forward to the day of the single slot passive 1050

Why are people in computing technology are so unconcerned about their outward appearance?
Exhibit A: Linus is wearing sandals with fucking socks.
Because men chose function over form. If you want pretty things to match your tampons and purse then go to the apple threads on /fa/ and /lgbt/.
Setting aside the people who do it "ironically" or as some kind of counter-culture statement, I think it comes down to learned priorities. Lots of values come from social impressions. If looking good and dressing in particular ways isn't impressed upon you, you don't prioritize it.
For what it's worth I think Linus is clearly in the first category I described.
why should I care about looks? if people judge me based on what I wear they're probably shallow incompetent retards
as long as you care about personal hygiene you can wear whatever the fuck you want and any professional person will look at your skill over whether your pants are matching your shirt and whether the pants aren't 1cm too long or too short or similar completely retarded bullshit for literal insecure attention seeking faggots
Trump, May and their ilk want to ban encryption because they mistakenly think it will stop naughty Mohammadamian communications.
So when I break in to your system and want to steal all of your data, it will all be unencrypted as is the law. Result.
Who fucking thought this through?

Why don't you take a seat?
Privacy is security. But politicians like to think they are opposites.
Yeah let's give up our privacy so politicians can take care of these terrorists that will keep doing their terrorist things anyway.
Can you write Software that can destroy Hardware?!
>>58987247
you have to make the hardware first
>>58987247
Absolutely.
nVidia drivers come to mind.
>>58987247
CIH virus essentially did that in the late 90s. It just bricked the hardware, though - but I'd imagine with the right hardware, you could make a program to physically destroy it (i.e. make it blow a capacitor or something.)
Do people in america consider you a nolife """nerd""" if you have a desktop?
Why is american such a tech illiterate shithole?
>>58987153
>people in america
yeah when you buy a desktop in america everyones going to look at your house via a livestream and they will all say that you are a nolife
its really a pain in the ass man
>>58987153
No. I know of many neurotypical people who still have desktop computers.
>>58987153
yes, which is why I bought a MacBook to balance out the shame of owning a desktop
Which one /g/?
Install Gentoo
>>58986835
If you don't know, you shouldn't be installing Gentoo.
>>58986850
But the guy above said to install it. Every post results in me being told to install Gentoo. I just need to know which one.
Why is it impossible for Windows Users to change their User Folder name?!
What does Microsoft mean by that?!
What is the exact reasoning for this?!

So they basically just trust that users will not upload malicious/broken packages?
Is anyone auditing this shit or its "whoever downloads first and fucks up his machine so he reports it in the comments" method?
>>58986614
You can review/edit PKGBUILD before installing, can't you? Also users can leave a feedback.
So yeah, if you're stupid you can install something malicious from AUR.
>>58986641
Yeah but what about the first guy who downloads it? He is basically going blind unless he actually reviews the source (never happens)
>>58986665
You don't need to review the source code, just the PKGBUILD. If people don't do it then they got no one but themselves to blame, just the same as people who download things and install it without verifying the signature.
How did RGB lighting and "gaming gear" get popular again? For a time it seemed like the high end moved towards sleek minimalist Scandinavian design. Now RGB control is built into every high end component.
PC gaming became normie tier after the rise of streaming. Since kids are the main purveyors, they dictate the market sadly.
all of the gay ass "post your desktop, post your battlestation" threads leaked from /g/ and onto normal sites, and everyone got all interested, and wanted stuff like that, but when searching for parts, they saw "oh what pretty colors" and everything got 60% gayer than it was before.
>>58986569
One good reason it got popular is because people are always going to want there shiny LEDs and RGB stuff has gotten cheap to make. So instead of making different color LED filled shit its easier to just sell RGB

I want to run Win10 in a VM with PCIe passthrough. And a second VM with Xubuntu for serfing the interwebs.
I have a xeon and 32 GB of ECC DDR3
What Host OS should I use? What benefit would tumbleweed have over debian or xubuntu? Or should I run something like Manjaro/Antergos?
This system has to be stable, I need to do my PhD in the win10 guest
>>58985971
this is one of those things where we need a full breakdown of your hardware to give any useful advice at all, but your best bet would be asking on the level1techs forum
>>58985971
install windows10 entreprise and run the vm's in hyper-x or vmware workstation.
