why do all the tech companies keep trying to push their assistants on users?

all the assistants ive tried are still slower than doing everything manually, by the time ive opened it and said open app x I can already just scroll and tap one, now this bixby shit is hard wired into the S8 and it fucking sucks

All of a sudden a lot of new packages for interacting with your disks have been added...

>libblockdev
>libbytesize
>dmraid

but most notably...
>volume_key
>A library for manipulating storage volume encryption keys and storing them separately from volumes to handle forgotten passphrases
>storing them separately from volumes to handle forgotten passphrases
>forgotten passphrases
I might be wrong but the only way to handle a forgotten passphrase is to have some sort of backdoor built in because with real encryption you shouldn't be able to recover the encrypted data if you forget the passphrase

If you want to ban "encryption" in the most literal sense, then yes.

A slightly more realistic approach would probably be to ban encryption used specifically for certain purposes, such as communication between individuals, but even that is pretty extreme.

which bans encryption used on the internet, making attacks oh so easy. i dont get why everyone is overhyping this manchester attack when like a trillion others have happened

I am currently following this tutorial http://stevenmiller888.github.io/mind-how-to-build-a-neural-network/ on building a neural network. But I am getting confused on the back propagation section.

Delta output sum = S'(sum) * (output sum margin of error)
Delta output sum = S'(1.235) * (-0.77)
Delta output sum = -0.13439890643886018

I just can't figure out how to get the delta output sum.

The Stigmoid of 1.235 is 0.7747.
0.7747 * -0.77 = - 0.596519 != -0.13439890643886018

This is the GPU fanboy wars board.
We don't discuss actual technology here.
>>
You don't plug 1.235 into the sigmoid function, you plug it into the derivative (gradient) of the sigmoid function you math illiterate idiot. The apostrophe ' acts as notation to let you know S' is the derivative (gradient) of S, the sigmoid function 1/(1+e^(-x)). S'(x) = (e^x)/((e^x+1)^2). This gives 0.174544*(-0.7747)= -0.13439890643886018

And you pathetic fucks think this license is "Unrestricted".
At that point you're better off with a EULA.

Windows 10 vs Windows 7 on a x220

The windows partition is in there for windows based school programs. Since this is only for school, I won't be watching porn and shit on it so I don't really care if the whole government is watching me use excel. I'm wondering which one is going to perform better and smoother given my situational needs?

Arch is going to be dual booted because I fucking bought into your meme and liked It. Love you all

Win10 is better on lower end gear (uses less ram and less cpu time for background tasks, also coalesces timers so it uses less battery even at the same load)
Both Win7 and Win10 will now spy on you, Win7 can be made safe by refusing certain updates, but you'll need to keep yourself apprised of these updates at all times and keep updates flowing in otherwise (or you'll end up like the cryptolocker victims)

I personally use Win10 in a VM for anything that's win exclusive and won't run in wine.

My birthday is coming up and I'm not sure what I should get myself.

Last year I got myself a Raspberry Pi set to play with.
This year I'm getting myself a laptop but I want to get something extra.
I was thinking of getting a PocketChip but I'm not certain if I'll use it at all.

Anything you could recommend me? (I'm a programmer)

and return to comfy desktops?

> No more dealing with shit batteries.
> Far more control over the hardware (unless you're an Applefag, but we already said you are an adult, there are not Macs).
> Even a crappy membrane keyboard and mouse is million times better than a shit notepad keyboard and trackpad.
> Same thing with monitors.
> Superior I/O options.
> Better Preformance/Price ratio.

Unless you are a super important business person (maybe academic? In any case, 99% of you are neither), you don't really need that much mobile computing. A smartphone is adequate for such tasks. Maybe a tablet.

You don't need to accept the compromises of the modern laptop.

I agree,I have 4 laptops 3 stupid phones 2desktops several PLC machines.

And I gotta admit that I need just 1 laptop for data unlocking and transfer. Everything else is just "style" thing to show off.
Said laptop I need would be about 400$

but when i'm at home my multi-monitor setup with all that horse-power at small price[compared to proper laptop] is just soo comfy

If I was really poor,I'd own just smart phone with windows+keyboard. Or buy something used. I know that both android and i-os are better but for work windows on phone can be really strong.

(caref (make-array '(2 2)
