What DE do you use on your GNU/Linux home server?
None.
Arch ARMv7
Just werks
Why would you need a DE on your server?
So I bought two used ssds and decided to use recuva to see if the previous owner had any pronz or something.
One was almost completely wiped, only found some config files.
But on the other I basically found the story of some guy's life and I wondered, what's the proper way to wipe a hard drive /ssd if you want to sell it?
It's really scary how can you just create a profile of someone with a bunch of filenames and photos.
Didn't find any porn tho. Just normie shit.

MY GORILLIIIIIION
What's the point of having updates if every iPhone becomes an unusable laggy piece of shit after a year of updates?
iOS doesn't even add anything new anymore, it just changes a few animations or icon pictures and suddenly you lose 50% performance every year.
I have an iPad I got from work as a christmas gift/bonus and the fact I've never been able to jailbreak it and install unstable apps that I WANT has bugged the fuck out of me. The lack of webm support without crossing between applications is even worse.
On top of that if you're doing dev work you have to fucking wait on Apple to approve of your own goddamn pushes and updates to an app that isnt even on the fucking store before you can install and test it.
iOS is unadulterated dogshit.
>>60798228
Your second statement is false, you don't even need a paid developer license to compile your own app and run it on your phone

I'm getting into the buying-refurbished-business-grade-computers-for-super-low-prices scene and it's making me smug as hell.
I've been looking at old Dell T3500 workstations as a gaming/heavy use machine, and you can get a ridiculously competent spec for around £100, then just source a 2nd hand GPU on la cheap.
Why doesn't everybody do this? It almost feels wrong because people are spending so much money.
its easier to window shop and think about how things fit into your "personal image" than it is to learn
-what components a computer has
-how these components work
-what the components must be capable of in order to do what you need
-What your components are capable of in comparison with older components
macs being
>"le pricey facebook machine for muh coffeh house"
isn't entirely untrue. But it's the same as
> "DAMMM DIS ALIENWARE IS so! FRICKIN SIKKKKKK"
or even
>"this is a bisnuienss glas labtob komgupter!:DDDDDD CHINKNOOVOHEHE"
branding is powerful.
I refurbish so many old Dells from my work that Im practically the Optiplex Whisperer
Holy fucking shit
this is amazing
this just in -- the t3500 will be the newly shilled workstation
get em while they're hot
Thread for the discussion of mice, mouse sensors, and mice companies.
g502 or bust
im on the market for a 30-40€ mouse with a good sensor and medium or large size.
i have big hands and had a Rival 100 previously of wich i liked the shape.
should i go for a Rival 300? id like to try other companies but the only logitech mice for 30€ is the tiny G102

Anyone else fucking tired of gaming and gamer bullshit in hardware related stuff? Like the ricer bullshit companies spew or that reviewers focus so much on gaming as if it's the be all and end all?
Unless you're buying workstation graphics cards, there's very little reason to build a desktop computer unless you want lots of power for your unoptimized PC games.
There isn't even a whole lot of difference between workstation hardware and gamer stuff, the only difference is the price and the level of warranty service you get.
If your workstation card dies, you can call up the manufacturer and they'll send a guy personally to replace your faulty hardware and even install it.
It's like buying snap-on stuff, for computers.
I like how you think things used to be better.

I just noticed 4chan pages starting to grab XML requests from this site
First time I see that, doesn't seem to happen in any other page I visit, only 4chan. It wasn't (and isn't) on trash yet, but it sure is on /g/, /pol/ and /vg/.

Is there a way to batch edit multiple file names that got the "_1" after it was duplicated ?

Use bash
let me get this straight
the pajeet said rx 580 would cost $200
but it costs $370 in my country
what did pajeet mean by this?
miners are buying all the amd cards for memecoins
>>60797570
EVEN IN MY COUNTRY ? the average person doesn't know what apple is here buddy
>>60797536
MSRP is ~$199 Add taxes and fees imposed by your government and you pay more. It's not AMD's fault. Also >>60797570
Prices are inflated at the moment.
So right now a GPU is
>larger, more power consuming and expensive than a CPU
>capable of running 16, 32, and 64 bit operations several times faster than the CPU does it.
>more technologically advanced
>utilized better memory at higher speeds
Why is it a secondary subservient device to the CPU?
Why arent we running our OS and software on our GPUs instead?
Eh
Because all those assumptions are bullshit. A gpu is something completely different from a cpu and built for completely differeng workloads
Because it's more expensive and doesn't have the same registers as a CPU does?
Anyone who uses a chromebook able to comment on using it as a dev device? I do python and node.js web development, I'm looking into getting the updated asus c100pa flip as a cheap take-around laptop I can throw in my bag and leave my nicer laptop at home
bump for interest. The only article I found was made in 2014 so I'm sure there's more dev tools around.
>>60797350
Your best bet is installing Crouton. Works great as a full fledged Linux environment and you also have all the ChromeOS goodies. I have this setup on my HP Chromebook 14 and do lots of Python development.
