Who would you say is Marvel's Doctor (from Doctor Who)? Yeah I know they published some books and there is a homage to him (from an Iron Fist book from the 70s I think), but I'm talking as to who's the closest to his personality/importance/power level.
Best I can some up with is Reed Richards, but he rarely flies solo (I'm not counting the companions). Stark fits the "ends justify the means" nature he sometimes has, but he's too limited. Doom is mostly like the Master. Strange being the Sorcerer Supreme actually kindafits his "Protector of the Universe" role, but he's too Eath-Centric and uses legit magic. Hank Pym, maybe?
Dunno, any ideas?
It really is the Silver Surfer, despite how much anons rage against Slott's run. But he's the only one with the scope and the power set and the moral flexibility. And even discounting Slott's run, the stories to back it up. In dozens of stories spanning the universe he has been cast as an angel and a demon, a believer and a cynic, he has damned and saved numerous worlds. And no matter who he travels with he is still alone in the universe, even when accompanied by his fellow heralds he is still utterly unique.

Pretty good analysis. Surfer really is wasted potential. Hell, all of cosmic is kinda wasted ATM.

>Lee's run
>Starlin/Marz run
>Parable
>In Thy Name
>Requiem
Check these out if you haven't already anon. Frankly there's not a whole lot of Surfer material compared to other characters, you could read all of it within a week or two.
You guys think it will be good?
>>94175557
I'm not too happy with what I have seen so far, so I don't think so.
But I hope that I'm wrong.
>>94175557
I cant wait what a guy seemingly writing comics as a form of self therapy will come up with for Darkseid.
>>94175557
I hope so.
Okay, so Reed is the Explorer because he mostly wants to explore shit.Tony is the Engineer because he mostly wants to built shit and get the job done. Pym is the Mage because his science is so great, it borderson science. That aside, what would others characters be in the grand scheme of things?
Strange could theoretically be called the Doctor because he fixes the Universe through his job as Sorcerer Supreme. Doom could be the Equalizer, for he blends science and magic together seamlessly.

The complete series of Drawn Together, including the movie, is getting re-released in one set this October.

Is it shill in here or is it just me?
I want to buy this, but what advantages does it have over the current set (which I don't have? Does the old one have episode commentaries?

>>kills thousands of young men in the war, doesn't care, jokes around about burning down Ba Sing Se

people don't realize how bad something is until they've suffered through it sometimes, it happens
>>nephew is on an important quest to win back his honor and secure the nation's future
>>"Fuck that shit, lol let's hide like dogs and open a teashop!"
Zuko wasn't on the path to fixing the fire nation yet, he needed to grow as a person and having a life in Ba Sing Sei was condusive to that.
>>the final battle comes
>>"Iroh, take down Ozai!"
>>"Nah, let the scrawny twelve year old do it, I'll go for the easy pickings with the rest of the old fags."
He explianed pretty well why only the Avatar could create balance, and I don't really call 5 v an entire city 'easy pickings'

>people don't realize how bad something is until they've suffered through it sometimes, it happens
He would have had to be mentally handicapped not to realize what he was visiting upon the nation he was fighting. He was just too weak to handle loss on his own part.
>Zuko wasn't on the path to fixing the fire nation yet, he needed to grow as a person and having a life in Ba Sing Sei was condusive to that.
Turning a proud people into a bunch of cowering cucks watched over by the Avatar's lapdog (Zuko himself) is not "fixing" the Fire Nation.
>He explianed pretty well why only the Avatar could create balance, and I don't really call 5 v an entire city 'easy pickings'
Convenient rationalizations that allow him to go to the rebellious city guarded by easily dispatched mooks while the kids take on the royal fleet and the most powerful firebender alive.

Wow it's almost like he's a human.
Great, he made Hanners worse.
And looks like he inserted more "friends" of his into the strip.

Why don't more shows use a setting similar to Talespin's?
>>94442979
Because this is the age of spaghetti arms, bean faces, and simple shapes.
>>94442979
>a cartoon
>about crushing poverty and debt
Too real.
Probably because superheroes (and by extension large, bustling cities) and trippy/surreal settings are more popular. And also because I doubt as many people involved in the entertainment industry today are as familiar or as interested in such a setting to push for one anyway.

What's your favourite Hellboy story/arc?
What series of the larger universe is your favourite? (BPRD, Lobster Johnson, etc.)
Favourite BPRD member?
Lizz or Kate kinda guy?
Favourite villain?
Favourite mythologies/folklore that Mignola uses? (Russian, Norse, etc.)
Feel free to post favourite panels or just chat about Mignola's work.
First for best character.

I was interested in buying the library editions myself. Was hoping to get it signed too considering Mignola is going to a con near me soon

>What's your favourite Hellboy story/arc?
All these years later and the Wolves of Saint August still remains one of my favs
>What series of the larger universe is your favourite? (BPRD, Lobster Johnson, etc.)
BPRD was just as good as Hellboy for a long while before trailing off with Hell on Earth.
>Favourite BPRD member?
If I can't pick Hellboy I'd pick Abe.
>Lizz or Kate kinda guy?
Kate
>Favourite villain?
The dude who had his soul put in an egg in a goat somewhere. The Black Flame had one of the best designs and setups. And I still love the mini-comic where Anubis shows up as a giant Mastiff.
>Favourite mythologies/folklore that Mignola uses? (Russian, Norse, etc.)
The fairy folk stuff from Ireland.
>Character tries to hide from T-rex by standing still
>It doesn't work because the writer actually reads books instead of using movies as reference

This movie is going to be interesting. I can only imagine insane shit talking about race and such will happen surrounding it.
Will be a good show.
