So in the last 6 or so months something has happened where the taste of peanuts and peanut butter has changed a lot for me. Now when I eat anything with peanuts in it I get a harsh bitter note, the peanuty flavour is also a lot stronger. The bitterness actually makes it very unpleasant to eat.

I tried at least 6 different brands of peanut butter in 3 countries, tried a number of different types of roasted or salted peanuts, and as I was in Asia also ate peanut sauces. The bitter note wasn't always there but more often than not it was. Could this be due to some sort of allergies that my body developed? I don't mean like allergic reaction to peanuts but an allergy to something that alters the taste of peanuts maybe? I have been noticing that my nose gets clogged up a lot more these days. The only allergies I've ever had before were early spring seasonal, not sure to what exactly as it only lasts about a month per year and I never got tested for it.

I was never a big peanut butter fan until I started traveling in my mid-20s and found the convenience of eating it, especially on road trips. I sure hope I don't have to find alternatives.

You might have a brain tumor/aneurysm

Before George Gershwin died from a tumor he said he smelled burning rubber for weeks

Anyone here do whole wheat pasta? I have some to use up and I was wondering what dishes they work best in.

I use it in stead of regular pasta. Regular pasta just tastes like slimy water, whole wheat actually has some taste to it.
>>
>>9135533
I like it, use it the same as regular, but keep in mind that it is heavier and grittier. better tossed in light sauce than having sauce poured on top.

Any Texasbros ever had a PeeCan Pie from the PeeCan Pie vending machine in Texas? If so, how was it?

Non-Texasbros, what do you think of Texas having a vending machine filled with fresh PeeCan Pies on the daily?

Where have all the banana flavored cereals gone? I've been slicing up my own bananas and putting them in cereal, but nothing compares to that cloying artificial flavoring.

Have you ever had a steak before?
It's one of my favorite things to eat.
What I love the most about steaks is that there are all sorts of different ways to prepare it!

Some people like to cook their steaks until they're brown all the way through.
Some people like their steaks a little more pink.
Some people even like to leave their steaks red in the middle - hardly cooked at all.
Some people put steak sauce on their steaks, some people like to eat their steaks just the way they are, and some people don't like steaks at all.

There's nothing wrong with this. After all, I'm sure there are lots of foods you like that your friends might not, but that doesn't make either of you wrong. It just means you have different opinions.

Life is full of people with all sorts of likes and dislikes, and that's okay, because having differences with other people is what makes this world such an interesting and wonderful place.

So the next time you feel mad or frustrated that your friend doesn't like something the way you do, just remember that they may have things they really like that you might not. Perhaps you could try something they like! You might find you like it very much yourself!

Tootsie roll lollipops will always be terrible as long as they have those nasty pseudo-chocolate centers.

Hey, /ck/. I was going to make bread pudding but I want to bake the bread pudding with rum in the mixture as well as a sauce. What would be a good recipe for making this alcoholic desert or if I'm adapting a regular recipe but just throwing in rum, what should I keep in mind?

I've been using Cayenne forever and have enjoyed it. I see that Mccormick has a chipotle now (probably been available for a while)and was thinking of substituting it in a butt rub. Does anyone who tried the chipotle prefer it to cayenne? I know there is a big difference in Scoville Units - I'm asking about flavor.

Chipotle has a very distinct and recognizable smoked flavor that, to me, is preferable to cayenne.

I don't know how mccormicks chipotle tastes like though.

I'm at school for the summer, and the usual places I go to for food are closed (not to mention that I don't have a meal plan). I need a good source of fiber and fruits/vegetables in my diet, since as much fun as eating nothing but boxed pasta is, I can't imagine it's good for me.

Only problem is, all I've got is a CVS and another, smaller convenience store nearby. I think the smaller store has apples, and bananas (which I'm allergic to), but that's about it. What else can I do on the cheap to get some produce in my diet without having to find a bus route to go grocery shopping?

Go to CVS and buy fiber supplements.
