No, you should watch Endless Eight. There are differences in the episodes, though they are small. You can just space out when you watch them if the repetition annoys you. It's important that you watch them all. It's a device to make you understand the characters' feelings, mainly Yuki's and Kyon's. They do the same thing with the movie.

Also, there are more episodes after the Endless Eight before the movie.

I surmise the grey wire leads to the IR receiver. If the LEDs and drive transistors work, then obviously the first thing you should be doing is basic continuity tests between the bit of the circuit the receiver's meant to be connecting to, and the pin of the IR receiver.

To put into context, there is this event where we nominate a best printwork award. The problem is; the event committee insist on using vote system instead of appointing a group of juries to filter the worthy winner.
