3. [10 pts] In an attempt to get in with the cool kids, Bharath decides to make Vivian a charm
necklace. After some careful research into her preferences, he noticed that she likes her necklaces
to be symmetrical but doesn’t want any two charms next to each other to have the same color.
In addition, Vivian only likes necklaces that have 13 charms.
In his extensive collection, Bharath has charms in 4 shapes (stars, hearts, ovals, and crescent
moons) and 4 colors (red, blue, pink, and chartreuse). He has 100 of each possible charm (so
1600 charms in total). How many different necklaces could Bharath possibly make to win her
over?

Your professor is legendary.
I suck big time at discrete probabilities, so I can't help, sorry, but YOU can help with making my day better and post the full homework here please
I'm looking forward to laughing out loud

If this were an AI problem, I'd make a function that serialises the necklaces and maximises their entropy, and a validation function that says if one is liked or not. From that, I can derive the set of necklaces that are liked.
Then I'd use a GA or similar to find from that the 123 selections that sum to what's in his inventory.
123 (1600/13) is the upper bound, so a valid listing of 123 permutations is per se a complete proof.
There are 2^(4*7)=2^28 possible necklaces, and 2^(2*7)*4*(3^6) ~=2^25 liked ones, which is well within the realms of computing on a desktop PC.
But I suspect it isn't an AI problem, and getting a dumb computer to bruteforce it for you would be frowned upon.
Hey guys, poor-fag here, I don't have a phone and am doing a chemistry elective subject in University, an assignment requires us to take photos of resin codes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resin_identification_code
of common products, all I need is 5 distinct photos of product like described in pic related (One pic of the resin code and one pic of the product correlated to the resin code), so basically 10 pictures, of resin codes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 of the actual code and another for each product.
If you secure tripfag your name with all 10 photos i'll paypal you $10 as a gift
Thanks

A few years ago I tried to get into drawing. I purchased a drawing notebook and pencils and started reading some book. The first exercise was to draw a 2D bottle, I never managed to make the fucking bottle look right, it was never symmetrical. Days ago I decided to buy a Wacom tablet, figured that it might be easier to do it if you can revert all your mistakes. Before getting into any book, I looked up anything simple enough on the Internet for me to think that I could do it; pic related is the result. Why is it that my lines aren't smooth like they should? How to get good?
If you're using photoshop then "Lazy Nezumi" would get the job done. Other than that get SAI or CSP. For starter I suggest draw something simple like circle, straight line, and 3D shapes.
get in the habit of using ctrl+z/undo until you get your lines just right. if you have a big enough tablet, practice making straight line motions using your arm, not your wrist. also, practice making basic shapes like circles, squares, etc because once you improve you'll find almost everything complex you'll draw will be made up of those shapes

beginner thread
Fellow Anons,
I need help with my computer again. I decided to upgrade my CPU recently. My current processor is a shitty little 1.86 GHz intel xeon E5320.. I decided to buy two intel xeon E5450 processors as my motherboard has two spots for them. I also bought two new heatsyncs, the same model as the one currently installed. The installations went smoothly, or so i thought, until booting the PC.
It powers on
No error messages
both fans spin fine
no image on my display
After looking for a solution i decided to reset the cmos, nothing. Tried booting with just one of the new processors, nothing... worried i had definitely destroyed my motherboard on accident, i had one last hope, i put the old processor back in and it worked. the computer went through a startup repair because of the cmos reset. but other than that.. im stuck with the same old computer and im confused as to why the new processors didn't work.. any help would be greatly appreciated.
>>256956
Well obviously the first thing you try is both of the new processors, one at a time, in the socket your old processor worked in.
Once you know your processors work, go from there.
>>256956
If your E5450s came with the little sticker already on the bottom so they'd work with desktop (775) motherboards, you don't want that. You've got a server (771) motherboard, so peel it off.
>>256956
Hi again OP, I remember you.
First, do what this anon said
>>256962
If you confirmed that you do not have these converter stickers on anymore, you can look into BIOS version.
It is possible that you need the latest BIOS for your board to use the E5450.
You can read the version of your BIOS in your BIOS or via CPU-Z in windows.
Then google your model (you can also do that in CPU-Z) and find out if you got the most recent BIOS on the manufacturer's page.
I don't have photoshop

Cool! Thx
Would buying a decent soundcard for my PC improve the sound quality I hear out of my Bose Companion 20 speakers?
Also, can I put my GPU into a lower PCI slot or does it have to be the top?
>>256924
>Would buying a decent soundcard for my PC improve the sound quality I hear out of my Bose Companion 20 speakers?
Yes but not by much and the quality of the audio files can also play a role
>>256924
No, sound cards are a meme. Making computers make noise was solved years ago, and now they're all the same.
You'd be far better off buying decent speakers, preferably ones with an HDMI or TOSLINK input.
>>256924
>can I put my GPU into a lower PCI slot or does it have to be the top?
That depends on your motherboard, so you're going to have to RTFM.
If the lower slot is fully-wired at the same clockspeed as the top one then yes, otherwise still yes but it won't perform as well.
>>257093
>No, sound cards are a meme. Making computers make noise was solved years ago, and now they're all the same.
WRONG
There is a tremendous difference between different computers and the quality of the sound, for example is my phones soundcard better than the soundcard I have on my laptop.
OP, you might notice a difference, although how big of a difference depends on the speakers (which I've never listened to), the motherboards built in soundcard, and also the quality of the files.
>FYI Spotify premium is what I use.
Recommend me movies, books, anime/manga, TV shows with smart, manipulative characters. More complex their schemes are, the better.
E.g., Death Note, Kaiji (and other FKMT manga), Liar Game, One Outs, House of Cards, Sherlock.
Doesn't even have to be particularly good, I just want those delicious mind-games.
No Game No Life.
Read Team Medical Dragon right now. Just fucking do it. The main players are competent and cunning as fuck.
Office politics and schemes have never been so intense. And their ambitions make Lelouch's look like a bitch.

Give us a picture. How can we come up with nicknames when we don't know what she's like?
>>256873
If I would call someone a friend you better believe I would not post their image anywhere on 4chan. Brunette and gorgeous.
No face, then call her Hajeba
My son need advice and I'm not very wise
Here's the situation: he is in middle school, and all through his school career he hass been creating a persona of complete emotionlessness to keep people from bothering him during his studies. However, he has developed a major crush. Should he go for it, destroying his reputation and what he has worked on for so long to help his school performance, or should he let his desires control him? Personally, I'm leaning towards no, but I don't always make the most sage choices.
