Why does /vp/ hate Meloetta's design? Everything about it is 99% music. Even it's hair works like the music notation system when it transforms. How is that not clever as hell?

>trips can force a pokemon release or overwrite a dubs GET
>quads can force a permanent rule change (within reason) or overwrite a trips get
>we don't talk about quints.

Welcome to /vp/'s Monotype Tournament thread!
Here we hold a Monotype tournament where you can compete for fun with Pokemon of your favourite type!
This tournament will be ran on OR/AS and will start on the 27th of March.

Currently under discussion are changes to the ruleset, mostly pertaining to restricting more Pokemon including but not limited to: Mega Sableye, Mega Lopunny, Mega Slowbro, and Mega Metagross. Feel free to add any of your own suggestions for ruleset adjustments.

Sup fags, i'm new to this board but I have been a huge fan of Pokemon since I was little, and now into competitive battling and the trading cards. the only problem is I CAN NOT REMEMBER THE WEAKNESSES OF THE TYPES OF POKEMON!

The pic on the top left was found from the trailer for Sun/Moon and pictures a new bird Pokemon that we have never seen before. Many people have already started concepting it. So that's that.

The really blurry pics where also from the trailer and picture some new dragon bird thing and a blur that for some reason looks very palkia like. Anyways we don't know what exactly these are but they could be the cover legendaries

Finally is the grass owl, fire tiger thing, and water dolphin. Some time ago these pics where dropped with literally no explanation and there was nothing online that could prove it is fake. There is no deviantart page showing anything near what this Pokemon looks like and it came from Japan. All of the good fake leaks have all been deconfirmed one way or another but this hasn't yet so there is a chance that this could be real. This one is an odd case though. The face may not be fully symmetrical but this looks to be concept art meaning it is very possible mistakes where made. Also don't you think it's time to change things up a bit? There are hardly any asymmetrical Pokemon out there. It's design isn't all that bad either. Look up "all Pokemon starters generation 1-6" and see what you find. Some of them have very blank expressions and this Owl could and the other two starters would fit in with the rest of the starters pretty well.

Seeing lots of posts about battle difficulty. That's a red herring. The battles, aside from a very few specific fights like Whitney, Red, Cynthia, were never difficult in the old gens.
The AI was always simplistic, the advantage you had to switch was always overpowered. Pokemon battles, outside of Nuzlocke or romhacks like Blaze Black/Volt White, were never challenging like battling another trainer is.
But that's not what has changed. If you'll play through Red and Blue, you'll notice how many opportunities there are to get lost. Things like the bike voucher requiring you to explore Cerulean, Surf being at the back of a labyrinth without any indication that it's where you need to go to progress to Cinnabar. Later gens just throw these items at your character. Paths are railroaded instead of open, like in Lumiose City and the insipid blackout compared with Cerulean/Vermilion/Lavender/Celadon/Saffron's backtracking maze.
There's just a less complicated involved, responsive, immersive world to role play in. The overworld challenges that there are remain contained to their specific areas or are optional, and there's tons of boosters, like partners that continuously heal your team, specifically to help young kids along so they don't get frustrated at failure.
TEACH SURF TO YOUR WATER POKEMON TO PROGRESS. ITS IN THE HM/TM TAB UNDER HM03.
This handholding is what I like least about the new gens. The battle/breeding changes over the gens have actually created much more depth and balance competitively. But let's be honest. Their purpose for dumbing down the RPG aspect of the RPG is clear. There is no reason they would stop with it now.

Why hasn't anyone brought up the fact the original leak said something like "anniversary" game?

To me, that could mean this isn't the end of Gen 6 (or to put it a bit less autisticly, the end of the Kalos set of games), but to have a new game for the anniversary.

It saddens me, but I have a feeling Sun/Moon will be the complete opposite of what /vp/ wants.

I think that no more Pokemon would be available besides box legendaries. The strategy of making new Pokemon were to distance themselves from the first generations and give regions a new feel. Now that people is in full Gen 1 cocksucking mode, they don't need to give anything a new feel; just giving people what they want: A third Kanto. (Second was Kalos if it wasn't obvious enough)

Making this gen starters the Kanto starters will attract many more people than making 3 more starters debutting these games. Plus, they have to keep these games presentable for their debut in the Chinese market. Expect these games to advertise Pikachu much more than before, and the game design would be leaning more into Smartphone-like minigames than a real effort to integrate fresh features into the core mechanics.

Even so, they will be praised as the second coming of Christ, like always.
