Really want to play SS. Should I get a cheap DS and CFW it - or just play on PC?
I know it mostly comes down to personal preference but I'm really conflicted on this. I feel like a large part of Pokemon's experience is dependent on being on a portable device.

It's a tradition to keep the electric rodents' names intact. Save for Emonga, this has always been a thing. Mimikyu keeping its name is a nice nod to that tradition.
Plus, Pikachu is a universal Pokemon, so to change the would be mascot of the series' name could cause confusion.

25 pokemon were revealed at this point, and the only one I genuinely like is Mimikyu. the rest are 5.5/10s at best.
Realistically that's at least a fifth of the Pokemon and I only like one. This is officially the worst designed gen.

All Pokemon were created through the extensive process of evolution. Mew being the progenitor of every single species is just a myth.
Powerful legendaries such as the birds, the beasts, the weather trio, etc. are just that: powerful entities who have withstood the test of time probably having evolved from a much weaker form. The mythological aspects of these Pokemon are probably hyperbolic if true at all. Think, for example, if the Loch Ness Monster was real, the type of pseudoreligious cult which would emerge around it because of how fabled it is. That's pretty much how legendaries work in the Pokemon world. It's like an Ancient Greek pantheon where some people would worship either Zekrom or Reshiram, and others either Xerneas or Yveltal, etc.
