If you still got too much money to burn, get PS4 Pro. No, the 4K TV is not a requirement, the console does NOT output REAL 4K in any game at the moment, and you actually benefit more on a lower res screen more, as you can play on the "high performance" mode, which is practically 1080p @ 60fps in most games, with AA effect resulted by minor downsampling.

Regular PS quadros already suffer to keep up even steady 30fps at 900p nowadays

PSVR would benefit from the Pro, and if you're ever looking to upgrade your monitor to even 1080p you'll get the visual benefits, as well as some games running at 60fps on the Pro (if I'm not mistaken).
The Slim is by far the most (and only) aesthetically pleasing version of the console, so it's up to you and how you value your money really.

I am one of those who got a Pro for my first playstation and I am honestly quite disappointed that I didn't buy the Slim. The Pro is honestly not worth it if you're looking to not play in 4K, I bought it expecting increase in performance but even boost mode is a very mediocre improvement which you will barely notice. The problem is that despite increase the GPU by quite a lot over the base ps4, the CPU only increased a little which allows a significant increase in resolution but not in framerate. The only game that somewhat benefits from the pro is Nioh and not by a lot.
With the price difference you can get like 2 more games, don't fall for it.

I don't want that, my laptop is good enough for everything I need from PC (internet, work stuff, shitposting on /b/, it can run all games that are only availible on PC).
I want PS4 because it has games that actually interest me and it will have even more of them as time will go on.
I can honestly say that there is currently only one upcoming PC only game that I want to play and I can't run it either on my current laptop or PS4, so gaming PC is definitely no no.

Why lie? All the sports games are native 4k 60fps and there are several other games at native 4k. It is a game by game basis sure but that doesn't mean that they don't exist. Even the "fake" 4k games look almost the same as 4k. Count the pixels

Most people already have a nice TV. Won't need to buy a new one. All you need is your SWEET PS4. You can get one USED for less than $150.

Got a 4K HDR TV already? Get dat FUCKING AMAZING PS4 PRO. Most games play at 60 FPS unlike PC games which struggle to play games at 60 FPS in GLORIOUS 4k without spending $1000 on a graphics card.

Getting an equivalent PC setup will require to buy a new monitor which decent ones cost $500 and build a new PC if your CPU is ancient. Expect to spend TWO FUCKING THOUSAND DOLLARS on an equivalent PC setup when you can use your already nice TV with a sub-$200 PS4.

Consoles these days are powerful enough to enjoy playing most games on them regardless of platform. PC is not "the undeniable winner". No one has "forgotten" PCs can perform better than consoles and have a similar library.

For most people, they just prefer a dedicated gaming console for the simplicity. You buy one, plug it in, and bam, you're playing all modern games. For others, they own one because their friends play on them.

IMHO Anon, the Slim has the best cooling if you're on a budget and don't care about true 1080. If you care deeply about true 1080p60fps, Pro is the way to go; especially with it's capabilities to upscale to 4K.
