So I grew up having about a dozen Gameboy games, and loved a lot of them. Links Awakening is golden, Mario Land 2 is classic fun, the original Pokémon games, etc. Messing around on an emulator recently, I loaded some random ass game called "Survival Kids" and holy shit.

This is unironically my favorite Gameboy game.

It seems nobody talks about it either. It's fantastic. Simple, but charming, challenging at points, and I'm playing through without a guide (except for one part but then I got the basics and am determined to use one no more) and it's just great.

Can we talk about this?

Random screenshots for ants incoming.

What's it about OP? I'll try playing it myself. I've literally never heard of this before.

You're a kid shipwrecked on an island. Objective: survive.

Gather food, water, supplies - features simple item combining to craft (inb4 buzzword) more items, you explore, hunt, and eventually learn some mysterious truths about the island a la "Lost."

I thought I was beating the game... then I discovered it was only the beginning. Really surprising gem here.

I heard of it a long time ago- sounded kind of interesting but never looked into it. I recall it getting a small strategy guide in Tips & Tricks magazine back then, probably where I saw it.

I could use something simple and cute, may have to finally try it out

Definitely. I'm enjoying it a great deal. Nothing too complex and yet under its surface is a very nice, ambitious game that kind of does a lot of stuff we take for granted nowadays... only it did it in '99

Wew. Sounds really cool, OP. Where'd you get the rom from? I know that emurom got rekt recently. I have an emulator.
>>

It was on Emuparadise, pretty sure. If not, LoveRom I think.

I also learned it is/was called "Stranded Kids" in Europe. Not relevant with an emulator, though, I guess.

Plus also read there's 8 different endings.
>>
aw shiet, that game was great, you ever play the ds sequels op?
>>
I saw a magazine ad for Survival Kids back in the day and I actually got hyped for it. Got it as a christmas present in 1999, it was excellent

I pirated the Lost in Blue games years later but they failed to capture the magic imo

I... didn't know Lost in Blue were connected to this.

I never played those either, but in retrospect I knew they were the same gist. I hear there's a Japan-only direct sequel for GB but that's it.

Are Lost in Blue and sequels any good?

looks cool?
