For games that have sold less than ten thousand copies, they're extremely unreliable and games are often not even within the stated margin of error. They can be drastically skewed by unusual player behavior (and the developer prompting the game owners to play the game for an hour immediately to enter a contest counts as unusual behavior). The owner count also includes free giveaway keys, although I don't think that's relevant in this case, I don't think there were any big giveaways.

Anyway. It looks like the game is doing reasonably well, above average for a VN launch although nowhere near hit range. However, that is all conjecture. It LOOKS LIKE it's doing pretty well. It is absolutely not a fact that it has sold that number of copies.

Sometimes I wish SteamSpy didn't exist.

I looked through the first 5 pages, and the only non-free indie game from 2016 there was Rabi-Ribi. And there's a total of maybe six games that cost more than $20 on the first 10 or so pages, whereas Nurse Love Addiction costs as much as Gay Ghosts on the Top Part of the Building.

Let's look at TB's sales/playtime, since you brought it up. Disregarding boosts during Steam sales, there are still some peaks of activity here and there, which means the interest doesn't just drop dead after the first weekend. And compared to TB's longer playtime and broader audience appeal, Nurse Whateveritsnameis is a more niche games.
So yes, I'd say for pretty a yuri VN with horrendous interface and pretty bland (subjectively) CGs/premise with it had a relatively good launch.

Your launch week spikes harder than almost any individual week will for the rest of the game's lifetime, but just because those other weeks have smaller spikes doesn't mean they don't add up. You do not make the majority of your sales in launch week. Games keep selling.

Showing 2000ish in the first few days on SteamSpy is better than average for a VN. Sakura Dungeon, on the other hand, jumped to 5000 within the first few days and kept going from there. Much stronger result.

Take a look at Highway Blossoms instead, for something that showed more similar on-launch numbers.

Installing Enhanced Steam has done nothing but make me jealous Russians get everything 67+% cheaper. I understand income and living standards may be higher in Canadaland but we can just pirate the same shit too, just like the damn Russkies.

Though, Steam's already giving us a favorable rate compared to the US: only a 10% conversion rate, while it should actually be closer to 30%, so this game is about $29 USD here. But still. $12 CAD (<$10 USD) in Russia.

As for the VN itself, it's got quite the drama. Tons of twists and turns and craziness. Only the sensei route is relatively craziness-free. While the localization is rather poor (it'll be right up your alley, SHiN), the art, voice work and humor are quite good. Full voice, HD. Sale ends in 8 hours.

I'm bitter the best girl Nao didn't get more cute scenes in her route.

Game launches tend to predict their later sales. Existing sales figures affect the way Steam promotes and displays the game later. Success builds on success.

However, even piss-poor games do not make all their sales in week one and then stop. Low-performing games slowly trickle down until they're making less than ten sales a week on an average week, but there are still discount weeks and sales events that kick up even the shittiest of titles. The actual units they shift in those sales tends to be proportional to their other behaviors.

What would be a good concept for a yuri-themed idle/clicker game? I just stumbled upon my folders from back when /v/ was going apeshit over Cookie Clicker/Dark Room/Candy Box.

One of those RPG/adventure themed ones with a yuri bent?

I'm playing A Little Lily Princess and I'm not sure I'm doing this right. I'm focusing on meeting Jessie's requirements, so I can talk to her all the time, but there are times I failed because one of the stats went down. Is this the way to win Jessie and will I fail if I keep on failing to meet her requirements?

As long as you get the last scene before the last week (38?) you should be fine. You might have to save scum to get the needed resources at some point.

You should never need to savescum if you're only going after one character at a time. In the first act, each character has about 7 events and there's 24 weeks, so you have more than enough time to get every one. You don't have to get each event the first week it's available.

In the second act, the requirements are really low and if you somehow fail to meet them, the last week keeps repeating until you get enough stats to pass the event. So once you've started her Act 2 path, you really can't lose.

You only really need to worry about resources if you're trying to unlock three or four paths in the same playthrough, because that's tricky. You can't possibly unlock more than four paths in a playthrough, there aren't enough weeks in Act 1.

Finally got around to Highway Blossoms. It was pretty good. I liked the setting, it's not one I often see.

Although it left me feeling a little empty for some reason. I made an all-female war band in Modheim City of the Damned, it's basically ultra hard XCOM in Warhammer universe (Good graphics and production value). I've been playing SWTOR and finally have Lana as a companion, and I'm really surprised by how good her romance is so far. In fact, the writing in this expansion is surprisingly good. Often, actually. The original Mary Sues were author-insert original characters in fanfiction. In the unmodded game (almsot) all instances of flirting/romance/sexual encounters with female NPCs were available to a male MC only, so these mods make them available to a female MC as well. I've changed pronouns and such accordingly, but I didn't change the overall story or backstory.

That was for personal use initially but I might as well share with /u/. And if anyone more familiar with the game knows of stuffs I missed, feel free to share.

I replayed kotor 2 recently with mods. the love polygon was very well done. It didn't leave me unsatisfied which made headcanoning easy after the game events. IMO, the game has the best /u/ dialogues around.

The above mod unlock a character that is locked to male. But don't fret, you'll only be refered as "he" only like 3 times.

You'll also need to follow this instruction in-game (as pointed out by the mod page)
When you arrive at an all-girls jedi academy where the girls are super mean and wear white robed uniform, make a backup save.
All the girls here are named "Handmaiden Sister", except for one.. and her name is "Handmaiden"...
When speaking to the special girl, she'll ask you about the force, tell her to seek you out later.

This girl's romance also has flags, so talk to her and the old lady often.

Chapter 4 moves from untested to completed (no further changes were needed). That makes the entire original campaign yurified now. Hordes of the Underdark will take more time to test, as I don't plan to play it right away.

None that I know of. With mods, there are 2 girls to romance. The third girl is not available to female, but your interaction with her can be subtexty. And try to go for harem choices, you get a lot juices.

That's an interesting ratio, usually the other way around.

I think it's becoming a bit more common now. Rising Angels Fates intends to do the same thing with only 1 male romance option for the MC along with several female options, and her sister has a few female romance options and a male friendship route.

I've always wondered how well it actually works in reality, particularly for VNs and dating sims with ratios heavily skewed in one direction or the other. I have no problem paying full price for a full yuri game, but I certainly wouldn't for a game where I'm only interested in 1 route ou of 5, for example. At the minimum it would need a 75% off sale before I'll even consider it.
