Why does this need its own thread?
>>
>>2054880
I wrote it in the description.
>>
>>2054880
why not? tsui yuri got one, yurirei got one,
JAST USA still translating flowers. So it's better to gather any info on one thread.

I will upload flowers 2 lossless Soundtrack, as for flowers 1 lossless, i remember having it on another computer, but maybe it's not lossless. maybe i will search it on baidu
>>

I ain't seeing it. Eh, doesn't matter, I'm not complaining, just asking.

This GL story takes place in 4 visual novels, which is about 6-10 hours long each game. It deserves its own planet, actually.

Some more stuff I couldn't add in the first post due to word limit:

It has always had its own thread with every release. It had quite a bit of activity too. Flowers invites more discussion than say... Tsui yuri since it actually has an ongoing mystery, and not a plotless story with fluff and porn. So yes. It needs its own thread.

Is it a good idea to have both spring (English localisation) and autumn discussion in the same thread though? Someone is bound to overlook a spoiler somewhere. The biggest spoiler is bound to be touched upon a lot more in autumn than it was in summer because of who it involves.

The 4 VNs are all under FLOWERS, like the Sono Hanabira thread with its 10+ VNs. There's always the spoiler tags.

Miley Cyrus' twerks are so popular that she made it in a Japanese yuri game.

Yuzuriha: "You shouldn't call people Miley Cyrus. I'm not that annoying. It's just..."

For now, all I'm expecting is a decent amount of Erika and Chidori flirting.

Been looking for other people's opinions on the game so far and I ran into this. Damn, I'm really looking forward to Yuzuriha's narration and choices.

Based on the prologue alone, Ringo has a thing for Ichigo, who has a thing for Yuzuriha. Though, there is a possibility that Ringo's twin complex pushes her to actually fall in love with Yuzuriha for real eventually.
>>
>>2060436
Aki prologue: Where does it say exactly that Ringo has a thing for Ichigo? The only feelings mentioned here were of Ringo's guilt on three things: Lowering her "standards" to meet Ichigo's so she won't feel bad, knowing that Ichigo likes Yuzuriha, and calling Yuzuriha to an empty church and confessing to her. But I hope there's a twin route though.

Nerine and Yuzuriha singing the opening is a really, really nice scene. They sound amazing.
>>
>>2060982
I'd prefer if people added "spoiler summary tags" before actual spoilers so we know whether or not it's safe to look at the black bars like this (otherwise comments with only black bars will probably get read after completion of the game):

Aki Ch1: Yuzuriha puts on the Aki uniform with her usual cynical smile.
>>
>>2060510
I suppose I was reading a little too much into her monologue and felt a bit of longing there. And a certain art from the Haru fanbook is colouring my lenses, not to mention the Aki cover illustration.

Aki ch 1: So far, Yuzuriha is a lot more adorable than I imagined, but good heavens there's really a lot that she hides behind her jokes. Was not expecting her to be that much in love too. Based on the teaser voice clips, I was expecting Nerine to be the one doing the longing, not the other way around.

Nerine's Engrish: I was waiting my father to be returning patiently, but my father wasn't returning. You broke your appointment. There was no anger in the case that you broke your appointment. […]

Dialogue / Yuzuriha: "She hasn't changed one bit," I thought, gazing at my close friend donned in her clean white autumn uniform -- Komikado Nerine.

Yeah, it's 4 VNs under the name FLOWERS. I also wrote it in the description, but no info has been released yet on the 4th one though, so there's no VNDB atm.

My god, the music in this photo with Suou's first appearance is just so beautiful and elegant, yet full of sorrow at the very end, like Mayuri. Been a while since I've gotten so teary-eyed. Would've liked to give translating this one a shot if JAST hadn't picked it up, but too bad they're slow as hell.

Suou: "Come by our room anytime and we'll treat you to some tea. Right, Rikka-san?"
>>

>>
>>2063839
Still on ch2, but it's been interesting to know how much everyone loves Yuzuriha from the monologue and CGs (like the one posted here). She appears very confident most of the time, so seeing her worries and wants for a change is quite refreshing. I'm expecting the drama to pick up from here since the opening song featured a love triangle involving the twins. Yuzuriha sure does like to tease though.

Wth man, where was this Ichigo in the first two VNs?

Yuzuriha: Her longing eyes locked on to mine, cheeks dyed crimson at my hand's caress on her head.
>>
>>2064137
Each game so far has had two love interests, right? But only one "correct" route?
>>
>>2064139
I haven't seen a game where two people are satisfied with letting each other both have the protagonist at the same time in the end (okay, maybe in porn, but not in a game like this). So I guess there would be one true route.

Niji no mahou is a great song. Love the piano arrangement too. I'm glad they included the duet version sung by Nerine and Yuzuriha in the album. Wasn't sure what to expect when I heard that they were going to sing, but the song turned out a lot better than I expected.

I'm done with the true route but still have yet to 100% it. I need to know more about what Nerine is thinking.

Autumn true end:

Long ver. detailed spoilers: Yuzuriha confesses to Nerine a second time after finding her resolve. She asks Nerine to meet her by a certain secret spot on the night of the Christmas celebrations at nine if she returns her feelings. Yuzuriha knows that she is asking Nerine to throw away everything. Her religious beliefs which has shaped Nerine's life, etc.

Yuzuriha heads out in the cold as it starts snowing. She waits, and nine o'clock passes but she sees no sign of Nerine. Eventually, 30 minutes passes and still, she sees no sign of her. Yuzuriha falls to the ground and starts crying, and it's as though she's back to her younger self; one who was wholly dependent on Nerine. With a shaking voice, she asks an absent Nerine: will she no longer come to her rescue, as she has always done before? Yuzuriha stares at the path leading to her but sees no one. She clicks her heels together 3 times, a reference to the wizard of OZ and how Nerine promised Yuzuriha that she would only need to click her heels 3 times and she would come running to her side (home, where she belongs)... and the ending roll plays.

The epilogue opens with the sound of footsteps in the snow. "Sorry to have kept you waiting, Yuzuriha"
Yuzuriha looks up at Nerine in disbelief. She thinks that it's just an illusion and yet, she can't help but reach for her in spite of it. Feeling her warmth, she comes to the realization that her love is indeed standing before her. Yuzuriha asks why? And Nerine answers that she promised that she would come running to her if she clicked her heels together three times. She tells Yuzuriha that she has decided to throw everything away for her, and to spend her life with her, in sickness and in health. The two of them exchange declarations of love, and kiss. The scene ends with them walking hand in hand into the distance.

tldr: Nerine returns Yuzuriha's feelings.

I'm still dragging my feet through the rest of the routes. I don't want this to end just yet.

On another note, the ED songs are so good. A different feel from the two before it, but just as good.

>>2066336
I've grown to like this series and its characters so much. It's definitely up there as one of my all time favourites (Akaiito is one of them). It's one I would definitely re-visit every now and then.

As for the angst, since the focus of autumn is very much on the romance (it starts with its characters already in love with someone), it's bound to hurt more.

>>2066260
It probably wouldn't hurt.

2nd playthrough with true route spoilers:
Getting a peek into Ringo's thought process is excellent, but I really hope they do the same for Nerine as well, especially after Yuzuriha proved her innocence/ the second confession. What was she thinking when Yuzuriha confessed to her a second time? What was she thinking when she decided to give everything up for Yuzuriha? Was she always in love with Yuzuriha like the teasers suggested? That last part especially, bugged me a lot. It was teased, but not really touched upon. At least, not in my first true route playthrough.
>>
There are new samples in the per character voice settings page after you clear. I don't think I would've ever checked if I hadn't seen it posted elsewhere.

I'm not that anon, but I'd also like to see the people who can buy the game be forced to do so. The more yuri games sell, the more likely we are to get more of them.

It's not like flowers isn't a completely proven series at this point.
>>
>>2067101
I bought 3 copies. What's your point?
>>
>>2067101
I know this is a shitty /v/ bait, but if there weren't people willing to pay for games, we wouldn't be getting any more of them.
>>
Ringo have a great development in previous games doesn't really like her but now i like her very much.
>>
Damn it. When flowers was first released, I didn't know what to expect. I know I definitely didn't expect to fall so in love with their characters. It hurts to think that their story will come to an end with winter. I really want to see Winter because I want (spring spoiler) Suoh to finally be with her Mayuri, but it would also mean an end to a beloved series. Innocent grey will go back to their het murder series and we will be left craving for more. Where then, can we go to get our fix of sweet sweet yuri with heartbreaking voice acting and heart wrenching music?

Help, /u/. This post ending emptiness hurts.
>>
>>2067749
You've got at least a whole year before it will be over. Isn't it a little too early to stress about it ending?

Did Innocent Grey say this would be their only yuri series? I was hoping they would do more at some point. It's been really nice to have a yuri series with this good of production values.
>>
>>2067789
Ah.. but we're already 3/4 of the way through the series as a whole. Autumn's overall sad feel is probably not helping.

It's pretty much a given that at the very least, their next work after Winter will be to continue with their existing murder series. It's a series that is also very dear to Sugina Miki's heart. He loves the mystery genre, you see. They're not big enough to be working on two series at time either.

I hope that they continue with yuri though. I intend to send that feedback postcard in to encourage them to do so. I did it for summer, by the way. They sent the bonus coaster to my tenso address and I had it forwarded to me. Now I kind of regret not doing the same for spring back then. Why does it always take me so long to realise how much a series means to me?
>>
What happened to Mayuri, what do you think, it's something dark, weird?
>>
>>2067789
Are there any sales data? Aki-hen has been ranking very well on Amazon, but I don't know if there are any sales numbers available for PC VNs.
>>
>>2067901
I don't know of any place that lists sales data either. It looks like it's been selling passably based on amazon/getchu sales ranks, but it's hard to tell.

I did find an old interview with Sugina Miki with a couple of relevant points.
-They are less concerned about sales than other companies and more concerned with creating games that meet their consumers' expectations.
-They were working on Kara no Shoujo 3 in parallel with Flowers. (>>2067812)

http://otapol.jp/2014/03/innocent-grey_entry.html
>>
>>2067895
The flowers series is very grounded in reality, so it's not something weird or supernatural. Dark, perhaps, but not something as sinister as wanting to hurt somebody. That's what I think but I'm still trying to gather my thoughts. It's time to revisit that bonus short story from Haru that had Suoh visiting a grave, which we now know is probably Dalia Basquiat's father's.

>>2067901
I think not a lot of companies track pc sales data. At the very least, the usual video game ones don't seem to.
>>
>>2067960
>They are less concerned about sales than other companies and more concerned with creating games that meet their consumers' expectations.
They've had rather consistent sales numbers across their products. None that sell particularly worse or better than others. He thinks it's because they've been creating products that meet the expectations of their targeted user base. Hence, he believes that as long as they keep creating the games they wanna make, they'll be fine. They're just not actively aiming for that next big thing that will earn big bucks. They are aware of the niche they are aiming for.

It was an interesting read. Thanks for sharing. I always thought Kara no Shoujo was put on hold because of Flowers, but it seems it's because it has a more complicated plot that needs more planning (KnS 2 took 4 years and they're hoping to do 3 faster than that. They're in their third year though? Sugina teased a new Touko art soon so maybe just shy of 4 years?). I hope they manage to keep this pace going forward.

Sugina Miki also mentioned that going forward, the two pillars of IG will be yuri and mystery. On the yuri side, the 4 in the flowers series (KnS on the other). Whether or not this goal will remain the same after they're done with flowers is anyone's guess (this interview was from right before Haru?) but I think there's hope. Sugina miki loves his yuri after all, and I'm glad for it. His stance on piracy and DRM was interesting too. I'll gladly support him if he keeps creating products I want to buy.
>>
Fuck. The 3rd track in the drama CD answered my fears about the Autumn ending:
Yuzuriha and Nerine did indeed leave school. Why...? I wanted to be with them for another season.
>>
>>2067901
Tech Gian puts out monthly estimated sales rankings for PC bishoujo games. Flowers Haru-hen and Natsu-hen didn't rank though. Kara no Shoujo 2 was apparently #6 for Feb 2013 (#53 for 2013).
>>
>>2068027
I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the school's secret.
>>
>>2068079
No. That's definitely not it. They (aki post ending spoilers) eloped. That's all. They did it for themselves, not anyone else. It's a happy end and they're so happy in the drama CD but at the same time it saddens me that I won't see them anymore. This is the end of their story.
>>
>>2068249
It's just a completely ridiculous thing for them to do at their ages, so it made me wonder.
>>
>>2068262
(aki-hen post ending spoilers)
And yet, it's the rash kind of behavior you would expect from someone their age. Yuzuriha's feelings had reached a boiling point. It's not something she could keep bottled up any longer. With all those death flags (that monologue where she thanks everyone individually, etc), you get the feeling that she probably would have let herself freeze to death by the lake if Nerine didn't show. Or at the very least, chose to leave on her own (her regret at not having taken pictures of her dear friends in Christmas attire). Yuzuriha's life revolved around Nerine. It shaped her entire being. Every decision she made, she made for Nerine's sake. The baptism. Putting on the mask of a trickster. The coffee. Going to that school. Running for student council. Even the actions which lead to the destruction of her relationship with her own amitié. Perhaps when we find out more about "agape no tulpa", we would gain a better understanding as to why they chose to leave. Perhaps it was to protect Nerine from the clutches of the religion and school they had turned their backs on. She's painfully aware of what happened to Mayuri after all.

From Nerine's point of view, it would probably be too much for her to stay and be reminded what she had betrayed. The school was a symbol of everything that rejected their love. Her father and her religion shaped her life. And now, she's throwing it all away and making a clean break.

I'm honestly still wondering how a happy end can make me so sad...

I'm now looping また会う日を楽しみに (named after Nerine's hanakotoba) like there's no tomorrow. We're blessed to have MANYO composing for us. Flowers wouldn't have had half the impact it did if it wasn't for the music.
>>

What can you say about the CD drama i really don't understand very well the feelings of Nerine, she seems to follow the promise but love is not develop like Ringo point of view or Yuzuriha.
>>
>>2068964
Yeah.. My biggest complaint about Aki is that they didn't really let us have a peek into what Nerine was thinking after she was proven innocent. Not enough about Yuzuriha anyway. You can sense the fondness in her tone I guess... I intend to feedback to IG about that part when I send my postcard out in September, but it's not like they can do anything about it at that point.

From that point on though, she started avoiding Yuzuriha, as though she was too afraid to come to terms with her feelings. When Rikka asks Yuzuriha if the two had a fight, and if you reply honestly (the yellow option, that perhaps it's because of her and Ringo), Yuzuriha will wonder "Why now, after all this time?" It is later revealed that Nerine struggles with whether or not her desire to be with Yuzuriha was genuine, or one borne out of guilt.

Looking back, this was the secret from the teasers that Nerine was harbouring. It's what left a hole in her heart-whether or not she was with Yuzuriha because of what Yuzuriha's mother said. In the Nerine end (not true end), Nerine does tell Yuzuriha that she loves her, more than anyone and anything in this world. And we can assume that the only reason she would jump to the conclusion that Yuzuriha's mother ended her sentence with a "please always be by Yuzuriha's side" instead of what most people would naturally assume "please become friends with Yuzuriha" like Yuzuriha surmised is what her mother actually meant, is due to her own bias/feelings for her. That said, I really wanted to see how she struggled with her religion, her father and how she came to terms with her feelings. Opportunity missed. I feel like I've said the same thing before for the prequels...

In the drama CD, they're very much in love already. It covers a bit of what life is like for the two of them after they have eloped. Nothing that would really help with what Nerine was thinking during those pivotal moments.
The drama CD is so sugary sweet I can't...

Damn, those black bar spoilers scared me so much that I had to avoid coming here until I finished the VN myself.

Just a few questions on Aki-Hen:

1. Ch5 part 2 Now Reasoning: How did Ringo sprain her right ankle? Did Ichigo make up the werewolf story so that others would have sympathy for Ichigo since people were avoiding her?

2. What did 部屋 with the two dots above those characters mean? Soul? Heart?

3. What did the clock pointing at 6:16 in this photo of the opening theme song mean?
>>
Yes, i'm finish just now i could like to know about the CD drama cause i understand very little, someone knows or give a quick summary about that.
>>
>>2069867
1. I can't recall exactly, but it was just an accident. I think it was in their room. And yes. That was Ichigo's idea to get people to stop ostracizing her sister. She didn't have any ill intentions behind it, of course. Never would she have expected Nerine to confess to a crime she didn't commit. And Nerine herself wasn't thinking clearly, as she later admitted.

2. I read it as getting a peek into what they're thinking. Reading the emotion behind it all. So heart?.

3. I don't think it means anything necessarily. You're reading too much into it? It's probably just highlighting the passage of time.

>>2071259
Sorry about taking so long. I was down with food poisoning. I'll have it up in a bit.
>>
Err.. I never do fare well in just summaries, loathe as I am to not let you have a blow by blow of the juiciest parts, and it turned out to be more of a translation than just a summary as I went on. So track 4 onwards seems to be ..full on translation? Too lazy to go back and change track 2.It's too long so I'll have it in pastebin or something when I'm done with everything.

That's why they didn't just edit it. I think this got a similar treatment like a lot of official subs get by "fansubs" nowadays. That means TLC+Edit. Well, actually I don't know if many fansubs even bother with TLC anymore with the quality generally getting better, but whatever. I mean part of the staff they hired for this actually know Japanese, if I recall it right.

That said, I'll wait for some opinions as well. Even redoing everything doesn't mean it's good.

Just checked these lines in the demo, because they're what I remember as the mistake that I think matters most to understanding the story and solving the mystery bit, and they're still wrong: it's translated as though Suoh herself were the subject of what she is thinking, but she's supposed to be reflecting on why she thinks the culprit did what they did.
>>
>>2120134
Anyone knows if a regular edition will be available for purchase? Also, is J-List the only website where you can buy it? Is there no other retailer for us Yuropoors?

>>2120156

In these cases it can help to post JP lines on top of it. As it is, I don't really understand your post, or how you came to your conclusion with the screenshot of yours.
>>
>>2120163

>>
>>2120174
Gods, why can't they find a proper translator? Sorry, English anons, you'll have to suffer through yet another shitty loca job. Shame it happened on such a good game ... twice no less.
>>
>>2120174

Thx. First line also lacks the right tense. Which is why this error became a thing in the first place I'd guess.

>Precisely because it's three books altogether that "subject" wanted to try it out, right?

From this you can't actually figure out the subject. Past vs. present is still.. kinda important. The speaker however can be the subject, if she kinda talks to herself and confirms her own actions in some way. It sounds like that's not the case though based on the context you've given.
Speaking of no clear subject, the second line has that going for it as well. Just JP things.
That said, if you are right about the context, it's awkward. After all the buzz on twitter and whatnot, you'd think they newly hired people would at least make sure the overall plot works. But without actually having read it myself, I can't say more. It could actually still be working out quite alright, with the past -> present switch being deliberate and all.

There's also a $40 physical limited edition but the bonuses are pretty mediocre and you have to buy from J-List.

$20 isn't too bad; just need it to show up on Steam so I can take advantage of Steam's very favorable 10% exchange rate to CAD. I splashed $37 CAD on HakuAi (Nurse Love Addiction) and the translation in that one was even worse.

So, what's the verdict on the (mis)translation? Is it bad enough to the point of altering the game's plot?

It was to be expected, Jast are incredibly transparent and it was painfully obvious that they only picked Flowers up because of the yuri. Not because of its beautiful story, well-written characters... Look no further than their twitter account where for months all they ever tweeted about it was lewd images with vaguely insidious comments.

Jast thought they could churn out a quick and dirty translation and call it a day, since it seems as if yuri will sell well no matter what. And to make matters worse they still clearly didn't care about Flowers enough to retranslate it even after the debacle and there's only so much TLC and editing can do. But what's equally frustrating is that people will buy it anyway without knowing about all this shit.

That pic is really old, it does not count. But you can use the hideous and full of typos translation of Raidy III, or how they still have Nitro+ titles stalled after, what? 5-6 years of announcing them. (At least the Sonicomi translation was really good)

Ok, the new translation is not the worst thing ever, but in a game like this the translation is very important, so yeah, i'm not picking this one. Unless someone can prove this translation is worth the money.

From what I've played so far there's still the occasional typo (at least four cases of an apostrophe being replaced with an f for some reason (as in, "Thatfs right")) and there's some formatting issues, but it at least reads all right; much better than the original version of the demo did. I haven't played the original though, so I can't speak for the accuracy of the translation.
>>
>>2120340
>at least four cases of an apostrophe being replaced with an f for some reason (as in, "Thatfs right")
Wait, seriously?
That'd be ridiculous to miss in proofreading, or even regular reading, so maybe it's some kind of font issue? I don't know much about the engine this runs on or VN engines in general but still. Are there actual apostrophes in there as well?

Yeah, I think I agree. I can sort of fill in the blanks for what they meant; it's more like, because they're all used to academy life, now they can move onto deciding on smaller details? Or something like that.

I just got to my first game over (which, first of all, I didn't even realize this game had those, so it was a bit of a surprise. I hadn't even saved yet) and to be honest I'm not certain how I was supposed to prevent it. I going assume you mean that there no couples who are explicitly lovers. Which is so clearly wrong it makes me wonder whether you are only pretending to have read them.
>>
>>2120468
Why is Rikka such a bitch ?
>>
>>2120468
Okay, I'll take my leave then. Sorry, if I offended someone, I didn't know it was a delicate topic.

Can someone just say if the third game is as slow as the rest? I really want to read it, but i'll rather wait for the fourth and finish it then if is going to be as slow. (Forget the class S, shit)
>>
>>2120447
Meh, unless we're taking about specifically H-focused vns H-scenes 9 out of 10 times are crap anyway. I can live without them.

And I don't mind, as such, slow story-telling either. If they're doing this whole onee-sama-Catholic-school-let's-have-tea-in-this-idyllic-flower-garden thing, it just makes sense.

But, dunno, usually they still manage to throw in some interesting twists or something. This just seems a bit lacking, especially since you're supposed to figure out "mysteries".

But I'm not through yet, so maybe I'm judging too early. Or I'm just in the wrong mood or something.
>>
>>2120469
I didn't mean that. And I just have read the first and second game while I was still studying japanese. But as I said, sorry, I didn't want to start a "war".
>>
>>2120481
It's not a "war". It's people correcting misinformation.
>>
>>2120482
But I was not misinformed. With Class S I was just refering to the Maria-sama ga miteru trope, the Onee-sama admiration, the crushes that go nowhere most of the time, the (really) slow burning of the relationships... all that. Not thet there were no couples in the VN.
>>
>>2120478
I'm halfway through the third game right now and it seems to be even slower than the other two, though maybe I'm just getting bored of them.
>>
>>2120493
I believe you're now lying about what you meant in >>2120462

And it's still not really an accurate description of Flowers.
>>
>>2120502
Thanks, I'll wait then. I really want to see how it ends.

>>2120505
Lying? How? About the explicit part? Is what the author said, not me. Maybe I explained it wrong, with "explicit yuri" he meant the sexual part of a relationship (thing that I'm not expecting) or a long-lasting relationship out of the school (thing that we can't prove yet) and a few more things, wish I coud find that interview.

>And it's still not really an accurate description of Flowers.
The thing is... I was not trying. nor want or can (I haven't read the third), to describe ALL Flower relationships. But, for me, it is mostly a Maria-sama ga miteru feeling that I find at times boring, add that to the very slow pacing and we have what I describe as a "snorefest". But, hey, for most people that slowness is good and I respect that.

Maybe if you say what you think Class S is, we could sort this out. I assume that for you Class S=no couples and I already said that I didn't meant that.
>>
Anyone here with pent-up desire to share their thoughts on the game? Is it good? Is it bad? Any annoyances for you?
>>
>>2120534
>with "explicit yuri" he meant
What Japanese terms are you claiming the author (Shimizu Hatsumi?) used for "explicit yuri" and "class S"?

>the sexual part of a relationship (thing that I'm not expecting)
Although it doesn't have sex scenes, there is clear sexual attraction and the physical intimacy of lovers. There's even been a subtle masturbation scene in Aki-hen.

>or a long-lasting relationship out of the school (thing that we can't prove yet)
Aki-hen has already had a couple who are lovers out of the school, with no good reason for thinking it isn't supposed to be long lasting.

>Maybe if you say what you think Class S is
It's a term I personally do not use. When someone else uses it on /u/ I interpret it based on how it's normally used here, which is what everyone reading a post that uses it has to do, which is why when someone is saying Flowers is "class S bullshit" or that it's "just class S relationships" I shoot it down for being stupid, to prevent people being misled.

I only just started chapter 4, but here are my impressions so far;

As for positives, the atmosphere of the game is really lovely. It's very relaxing, the art and music is beautiful, and I find it easy to follow along with the story. For some people I could see it being kind of boring, but personally I really like this kind of setting. If you've watched Aoi Hana, it gives me kind of a similar feeling.
I feel like the characters are really endearing, too. Suoh in particular I feel really sympathetic towards. I feel like her general awkwardness is probably relatable to a lot of people. Generally, I find that I have a tough time maintaining interest in visual novels, but I've been playing this one basically all day and it's consistently kept my interest.

On the other hand, I find the mystery segments kind of confusing, which is unfortunate I guess, since they're one of the things that make this game unique. They make sense, it just feels like some of the questions are kind of random ("Which country has the most Christians?") Plus some of the routing feels a little vague; depending on how you make choices, the game puts you on the path towards one of two characters, but with some of the questions I don't really get how they even relate to either of them. Plus, sometimes you'll make a choice and Suoh just won't do it because she's too afraid, which sort of makes me wonder what the point is. (Although it'll still count towards one of either character.)

But those are kind of minor complaints for me. Either way, I'd say that so far I'm enjoying the game; on the other hand, though, I'm still pretty far away from completing it. I might make another post once I've finished. (Sorry for the huge post.)
>>
Is the writing still fuckawfull nonsense like it was in kara no shit?
>>
>>2120637
>but with some of the questions I don't really get how they even relate to either of them.
They don't. It's more a case of the choice that grows the lily being (as a rule of thumb) the one that works out better or reflects a more positive disposition for Suoh.
>>
>>2120637
I like long posts, one-liner reviews aren't helpful at all
>>
>>2120642
Let's see ...

Her teacher is not her future self having returned to the past to guide her past self into making the right choices to save humanity.
There is no sudden alien invasion in the middle of the plot so it does not turn into a desperate fight for survival where everybody dies anyway.
She is not actually already dead and revealed as only being lingering memories at the end of the plot, and neither is anybody else.

Going by that, it's fairly grounded as far as visual novels go.

On the other hand, it's a Catholic school that forces everyone to attend ballet lessons.

So I suppose you'll have to decide for yourself.
>>
>>2120586
I'm trting my best to find that interview, it will made this so much easier.

>What Japanese terms are you claiming the author (Shimizu Hatsumi?) used for "explicit yuri" and "class S"?
I believe it was from the artist, Sugina Miki, it was an old interview, Natsu-hen wasn't even out. I found it in 4chan, for what it's worth. And he used "rezuru" (explicit yuri, for me) and simply "yuri" (Class S, for me), I don't think he used exactly the term "kurasu S".

>all the Aki-hen info
I didn't know that, since I haven't read it yet, so I apologize again. I'm surprised about the masturbation thing, tho.

>It's a term I personally do not use....
I recognize I shouldn't have said "bullshit", I used that not to desprestigiate the relationships of the VN, but to emphazise how boring they were for me. Odd how anyone in /u/ can interpret Class S yuri as no couples, because that is certainly not the case and much less in Flowers. I didn't want to make people confused with that.
>>
I've played all the three installment.
And think only the begining is a bit boring. As much as I love Suoh-chan, she has a serious self-confidence issue. Always blame and pity herself.

The Haru-hen is about the change of Suoh and friendship, the romantic thing start in the last part of the game.

The other two is very engaging from the start.
The Natsu-Hen is the best in my opinion, it starts from Chidori and Erika being enemy to the part where come to accept each other. And Erika is very funny haha.

The Aki-hen focus on the romantic things from the start. I think the part where everyone isn't what they seem to be is very well written. Especially, Yuzuriha and Ringo, they have much more side of her then I think and I've come to love her.

All in all, this series is the best Yuri game for me. Beautiful art, story and character.
>>
>>2120662
>And he used "rezuru" (explicit yuri, for me) and simply "yuri" (Class S, for me)
Even if this is true (and I certainly wouldn't take your word for it) translating someone else's words like that would be a retarded misrepresentation
>>
>>2120700
>and I certainly wouldn't take your word for it
It's better that way since I can't guarantee anything, honestly.

But it wasn't just those words, it was the full context of the interview and how he discerned between those two, but maybe I read that much into it, it can be that, but I don't consider it a misrepresentation. But, we're talking possibilities, not facts I can prove, so better leave it like that.

Well, the important thing is that we sorted out the Class S thing and I'm glad, I was just a misinterpretation for both parts.
>>

>>
>>2121590
It's primarily linear, however there is an alternate Rikka x Suoh ending (it's a short branch) although it's locked on first play through, and most chapters have a segment that has two versions depending on whether you chose mostly the answers that grew the lily or not in the early part of the chapter, so there's a reason for doing a second play through.
>>
>>2121582
Flower's production values are definitely better and the standard of writing is higher (in Japanese).
>>
Here's an overview of how the game system in Flowers games work (as far as I can tell, this applies to all 3 installments so far)

There are 3 types of choice:

1) Those that affect the lily gauge
These are by far the most common
They occur in the early part of the chapters
After you choose the lily gauge will flash green or yellow
Green indicates the better choice, and it will contribute to growing the lily
How far you've grown the lily gauge affects which ending you're on course for
Basically more yellow choices = worse ending
In Spring's case, I believe it has an extra scene if you choose only green
Whether you've chosen mostly green or not during a chapter will usual lead to two versions of what happens in a middle portion of the chapter
Who the protagonist spends time with during those sections doesn't have much significance
(except maybe for getting Dalia ending in Summer, but I'm not even sure about that)

2) The questions for answering mysteries
These occur near the end of roughly half of chapters
There's always one right answer to each question
Getting one wrong will lead to a bad ending for that chapter
It's possible for there to be more than one bad ending in a chapter

3) Those that either directly lead to or at least set required flags related to alternate endings
These are very rare (there might be only one in Spring)
They usually have conditions for whether they appear
Such as how far the lily gauge has grown and/or whether you've already seen a particular ending
>>
>>2121647
But the stories lack some tension.

Kindred Spirit was kinda short-ish and a bit superficial, plus, it's basically a kinetic novel.

Flowers is nice to look at and has some good stuff, but has just about no route variations and the plot just kinda cruises along.

Nurse L.A. has some really weird stuff going on and likes throwing it sort-of random-ish into the plot.

The most redeeming feature that all of them come with is that they're /u/.
Now, they aren't bad or anything, but I'd really kinda like one that's great/awesome/fantastic for a change ...

I just finished Flowers volume 1 (10+ hours) and I gotta say I'm kinda disappointed.

The production values for this vn are amazing, probably the prettiest art for vn, good accompaniment soundtrack, good voice acting. The JAST translation is just fine, there's no reason to be upset over it. The vn starts strong, you're immediately introduced to the two main girls through beautiful cgs. I also like how the game tells you immediately if the choice you made was correct or incorrect. But...

>>2121877
My main gripe is that, despite promotional art and many cgs in game, there is a true ending (which is necessary as this is a multi-part series), but that means you don't really have a choice. One of the two cover girls is the right choice, the other is the bad end (tho bad end girl gets a small bonus ending if you clear true end). It sucks because you could picking all the choices for one girl, you get scenes of them bonding, but then nope, developers didn't want that, bad end.

The true end ends a little too soon when things start getting yuri, imo, though another problem with the series being multi-part (gotta end with that cliffhanger) so finishing the first part feels unsatisfying, it's like you're playing a prologue to a full vn.

Personal preference complaints, the mischievous twins isn't an archetype I'm fond of, found them annoying. The mystery segments felt too difficult (some require outside knowledge not in the game), when it's all explained after you solve the mystery correctly (possibly through guessing), I was like how did they make that connection.

While this vn did not live up to expectations I'll still follow it for the Yuzuriha route in the third game because she was an amazing character that definitely deserves more time.
>>
Please someone enlighten me Why did Mayuri say that Suou's not her friend? I'm really pissed right now for Suou's sake.

Rikka used Mayuri's story to blackmail Suou? https://arwynl.wordpress.com/2014/05/12/innocent-grey-flowers-rant/ On Mayuri's route? And Suou just gives into that? Drop honorifics? For the time being (as of chapter 6), I haven't seen any uncoercive reaction from Suou. How could she, like... On a different note, I can empathize with Mayuri about her liking the person resembling her ex-crush. That kid needs (more) motherly affection. Lastly, I must've missed a lot of things since my Japanese was still quite weak.

What I don't understand is the insane time limit Jast obviously pushed on Meru and her editor to get it out on time. The script reads like a rough first draft without any editing and an extra month or two could have helped with that.
>>
Just finished it, it was really good but it hurts so much. Mayuri ;_;

According to SteamSpy, it has about 1200 owners (though this number is usually way less than the actual owners). It's about half of what SonoHana had on it's first week, though it hasn't even been out for a full week, and it's two times as expensive.
>>
>>2123523
I wouldn't be worried about that. Sure, the whole translation fiasco might have put some people on the fence about whether getting it or not, but the game is nevertheless quite popular.
Also, I seem to recall that Volume 2 was already confirmed long time ago. Can't find the source on this, but checking on vndb it's indeed listed as TBA for English release by JAST.
>>
>>2123536
Steamspy numbers aren't reliable at all especially for smaller titles. Kindred Spirits went from like 2k to 5k and viceversa in less than two days 2-3 weeks after it came out.
I remember the same thing happening with other small titles, such as SonoHana itself. Numbers usually get more stable after a couple months, so take the current ones with a grain of salt.
>>
>>2123543
I forgot to add that SteamSpy doesn't count the digital version sold on JList since they most certainly don't come with a steam key(only the LE does afaik).

Yes, it's not reliable at all, specially since the margin of error is as big as the estimated size, but all in all, even if we consider the steam sales only, it's still pretty good.
