How would one homebrew a fishing rod weapon that is both accurate and not super broken for 5E? I mean the concept is good but the range seems like an issue. I would think counting it as a whip would work but there's jack shit for whip feats and such. Any ideas TG?
Whip + grappling hook

It's a whip.

Well how would one make whips "decent"

Couldn't you basically do this in any system by statting dudes like tissue paper?
Although admittedly it'd be funny to design a system where you roll to determine how many fuckers you end in that round rather than actually statting them.

No he doesn't and no he isn't, have you even watched his videos, you autistic reject? He acts like a smug piece of shit who thinks he's better than everyone else and whiteroom theorycrafting videos are useless.
What the fuck do you mean people need to grow up? He harassed a bunch of YouTubers and drove some off YouTube then feigned ignorance, and blamed it on others when he was caught, that's not something to be easily forgiven. He also gets extremely buttblasted when other groups are popular, he reviewed DCA and Critical Role by saying the DMing isn't what he would do which meant it was bad, and he had a bizarre and creepy one sided interview with Matt Mercer.
Cry more and act more buttblasted, retard. Don't be That Guy.

We'll get Tortles tomorrow, right? How do you think their racial bonus will be? I bet +2 con and +1 wis with natural AC like Lizardfolk
Think of settings like Endless Legend, where long long lost technology is mistaken for magic and/or misunderstood and most of the inhabitants are culturally and mentally within a medieval era fantasy setting.
Like if you gave a modern smartphone to a bronze age human, they wouldn't be fully able to comprehend it even if you explained it to them.
To them it'd be a "magic stone" and they would probably misrepresent it, if they had to portray or describe it.
If you were to run a game in a setting like that, how would you handle it?
Would you let your players in on it from the start?
Describe things to them using modern descriptions?
Or would you describe things to them "as they see them" ("strange metallic rope" instead of "wire") and maybe they will figure it out themselves?
I think walking a pretty fine line between being too subtle and not subtle enough is required with this.
Please share experiences and ideas.

>Like if you gave a modern smartphone to a bronze age human, they wouldn't be fully able to comprehend it even if you explained it to them.
Yes they would?
>>55275767
Not op, but the very idea of a computer or light speed communications would be alien to them.
>>55275767
waaaaay too much context missing for them to understand it.
they would get that it's a shiny surface that they can touch and colors change, but explaining the full context to them would take years.
it would be very very scary to them at first i'd imagine.
I GM a semi-casual 6 player group running a basic 5e homebrew campaign. I was thinking about ways to have them battle each other on 3 player teams.
I'm thinking about transporting them to a Valhalla-like alternate realm where they can split off into teams and battle each other in an arena-style exhibition where the losers would be resurrected. Winner would get some unknown loot and/or favor of the gods.
Any tips/advice for those who have tried this before? How did you set it up? Should there be any changes to the battle mechanics?
>>55275668
Unrelated but i really love the mashup of 80s/90s themes with medieval to classical objects with these images.

If you don't make sure they still go through an average adventuring day's worth of encounters, the long rest players will shitstomp the shortrest ones because they're at max power.

So... What would the Joker be in this tale?
>>55274420
An enemy of justice!
So what are the modern rules about this?
Specifically when a white knight and a black knight are enemies on the board, can they clock each other or do they ignore each other?
And I guess giant boardwhipes still kill stuff no matter the protection....
>>55274305
Protection from X means DEBT:
Prevent all damage that would be dealt to it by X.
Cannot be enchanted by X.
Cannot be blocked by X.
Cannot be targeted by X.
So a White Knight and a Black Knight cannot block each other.
>>55274305
Remember DEBT. Protection from X means it cannot be Damaged, Enchanted, Blocked by, or Targeted by X sources.
Note that D stands only for Damage, so boardwipes which do not deal damage can still kill things with protection.
White Knight cannot be blocked by Black Knight. Black Knight cannot be blocked by White Knight.
Black Knight is destroyed by Wrath of God.
>>55274742
Forgot
>Black Knight is destroyed by Wrath of God.
And Silver Knight is not killed by Pyroclasm.
So what's next? Hopefully something new for a xenos faction. But afterwards at some point they will specialize the space marine factions one by one, so I personally I would love Iron Hands for the next loyalist legion, to then follow it up with Emperor's Children. They could even throw in some new Cult Mechanicus, or even some chaos ones, if they do bring back Ferrus manus.

The Lamenters deserve better!
I want some Blood Ravens.
We know what is coming. DG (of course), then Ad Mech/Knights, Eldar, Tyranids, and finally Guard by the end of November (confirmed at NOVA). Then we get Chapter Approved with custom land raiders and, supposedly, chapter tactics equivalents for all factions.
I have a feeling Ad Mech will just be a book, no models, like CSM and GK. I HOPE Eldary release is paired with plastic Aspect Warrior kits, but sadly each one is so unique they'd need to make a kit for each which would cost GW a TON to produce. IDK what is up with the 'Nids but I hope Guard gets plastic boxes for the more obscure regiments that only have metal right now (Vostroyans, Steel Legion, etc.)

How could I go about modeling these guys? Would it take too much effort to do for a whole army?
Xth for FW has overpowered rules.
Anyone ball guilds around here?
I don't have a copypasta or anything for OP, sorry I suck.
Question of the thread: Got games in with Blacksmiths or Farmers yet? How are they treating you?
>>55273420
I'm five games in with blacksmiths and liking them a lot. So far it's been four games against farmers and one against morts. So far I'm 5/0, but I would like to play against other teams like Corsair, and ballista.
Can't wait for alloy though.
>>55273474
Alloy's art looks fucking dope
I haven't played any Smiths yet cause I didn't go to gencon but I think I'm gonna make proxies for em tonight cause I can't wait till November
>>55273551
That's what I did. There's a PDF on the Smith's Facebook group.
What would be the most practical weapon for armored opponents? Would that weapon also be just as practical to use against unarmored opponents and everyday use or JUST against armored opponents? Can swords only ever be considered good sidearms or are there good reasons to use a sword as a main weapon (without that sword being gigantic)? Are swords more effective against unarmored opponents than a poleaxe/spear/mace? Why wouldn't someone just carry a mace around instead?
>>55273345
>Why wouldn't someone just carry a mace around instead?
Funnily enough the nobles tried to forbid the use of maces for their terrible effectiveness of damaging plate armor.
>>55273345
A sword is wildly more effective against an unarmored opponent than a mace. A mace will break bones, hurt severly and kill of course, but any heavy object can kill.
A sword will maim, you will lose an arm, a leg, you will surely die because your guts are spilled on the floor.
A spear is less "effective" in the sense that you can't cut a leg as easily with a spear than with a sword, and it's shit for carrying around.
A poleaxe or a halberd is devastating, and it's a weapon of war. No one is gonna let you walk in a town with a fucking halberd. You can cut heads, you can pierce armor, you can crush it too.
If you want to know more about medieval weapons in general, I recommend you this channel

>>55273345
A sword works surprisingly well against armor if you hold the blade and smack him with the handle.
I want to play a paladin in a friend's upcoming pathfinder campaign. I've never gotten to play pathfinder, only GM it. Problem is that I feel like my edgelord friends have rubbed off on me, and that mixed with my hatred of alignment mechanics makes me question my ability to roleplay one well. I am considering a paladin who has done wrong or been wronged and seeks solace in following their path, felt the calling as a way to redeem himself, maybe struggles with anger at odds with mercy, or something else. I don't want to make an edgy paladin, just an interesting one, and the lawful good stereotype just seems too unrealistic to me to play without feeling like a parody. I also want to really RP him, as in considering how different events affect him between sessions.
Anyway, I'd appreciate any advice, RP or mechanics related. Also paladin stories, thoughts, ideas, art, whatever.
Insinuation anti-paladins make far better adventurers with their changes version of the anti-paladin code. Plus it makes you able to act LN constantly while being LE because you have to for some of your class features.
>>55273423
Yeah that's fair. I guess anger at injustice is a good roleplaying cue. I have a very strong sense of justice but i feel like thats not enough for a paladin by itself. You can't be driven by hate. For example I've never been robbed but I hate criminals with a passion, even petty ones, but I think I would not be a good paladin with this motivations.
Why are Salamanders so popular?
>>55273169
No there not.
