Imagine pigeons that behave like bees except they're also cybernetically enhanced and instead of producing honey they produce hundreds of gallons of shit. The pigeons collect food from all over the city and bring it back to the pigeon queen which processes the food into more pigeons and ultra pigeon shit for special shitjobs(90% fatality rate against non-enhanced direct victims, 10% fatality rate for bystanders).

Having a million races and sub-races for the slightest variation of fairy/elf/eskimo.
Repetitive monsters like "FIRE MONKIES! ICE MONKIES! BEHOLDER MONKIES! SKELETAL MONKIES! SEA MONKIES! SPIDER MONKIES!"

Weights on items and equipment bearing no semblance of reality. No one is going to swing a 30lb sword around. No one is going to wear 100+lbs of plate. Those things should be about 7~15lbs and 35~60lbs respectively. Fuck, Cyberpunk 2020 lists the weight of a motorbike as 15kg in the main book so this isn't limited to fantasy games.

And I don't care how far away it's been imported from an apple is not worth 5 gold pieces. Also a gold ingot that can be used to make 50 gold pieces should be worth 50 gold pieces. Not 500. Not 1000. Otherwise I could just melt 50 gold pieces down into a bar and sell it for ten or twenty times its weight in gold. Gold should only be worth ONE times its weight in gold otherwise the economy makes no sense. Why would putting gold into coin form devalue it by a factor if ten or more? Why would anyone do that? Shit this last one is really getting to me.

Armor would need to be very light, so you can still swim in it (aquatic races in my setting use treated sharkskin).

You can still swim in heavier armor, it just would prove tiring (at least unless you had sufficient volume to remain vaguely buoyant even in armor, but let's disregard Baleen Giants for now). Possibly bring pack animals / beasts / servants to carry your armor for you, only don / doff it on the eve of battle?

Of course this also ignores the obvious factor that if you're aquatic / marine being forced to walk upon the body's bottom is more a limitation of mobility than a death sentence. Something in more shallow waters might not even matter too significantly, if the difference between the reach of your weapons (whether thrust or thrown) and the water's surface is negligible.

... Would water depth modify how such races arm themselves for battle? In deeper water aiming to focus on mobility, shallow-er water a mix of light 'infantry' optimizing in hit-and-run whilst the heavier 'infantry' is used to hold or deny 'ground'?

Brass, copper, and aluminum are all viable marine grade metals. The problem is smelting the metallic ore, which I suppose you could attempt in a volcanic vent. But I don't know.

If I go Mystic, Order of the Immortal, and then just all the straight up fighty vanilla stuff like Brute Force and Psychic Hammer/Mind Slam, how does it compare to Fighter or Monk?

What's wrong with splat if it offers more options as opposed to just optimal builds, which it seems to in 5e due to the subclass system?
