Thread question: How successful is attrition in your local playgroup?
I just found out archenemy exists and have an question about /tg/s opinion. How many players are best for a game of kitchen table arch? Modern arch? standard? Commander?
1 archenemy and 3 heroes is considered "standard" I guess.
Archenemy Planechase Commander, with a Two-Headed Giant team as the archenemy is some of the most ridiculous kitchen table fun you can have with Magic.
What kind of supernatural horror/Surreal paranormal material could you include in a school? (I've seen you do similar stuff for apartment complexes and subway stations)
>>54878749
I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but the first thought I had is the sort of psychological horror Silent Hill uses, only revolving around the horrible bullying that occurred
>>54878749
>>54878749
School is hell already. Play Monsterhearts.
Seriously, what he said: >>54881142
Gotta make it very PC-specific tough.
>>54878749
>>54881142
>>54881216
don't forget the most ominous thing a school can make someone dread: your future.
I mean, time slips away from us easily, once day you're in your carefree schooldays, hanging with friends, but suddenly you realize your adult life is around the corner and all the comforts of your school years will be gone, and no matter how bright, talented, or well-behaved you were in school, it doesn't promise a good future. And even getting a good job and livelihood, you still lose all the fun of being a child and will only continue to be burdened with responsibilities and obligations as you get older.
I've not seen any threads about this, so can we have a 7th Sea discussion? My local store had the 2nd edition rulebook on sale so I figured I'd buy it, it looks interesting so far but it does feel a little lacking. Does anyone have any experience running it?
>>54877080
I ran just a bit of it & played just a bit of it. The Sorceries are really hit & miss, the mechanics are weird, but all in all i really like 7th Sea. Hopefully Eisen gets more focus. Not!Germany is my favorite & I hate how hey have the least useful Sorcery & Dracheneisen is no longer the awesome stuff it used to be
What is the difference between Sigmar, Ulric and Myrmidia?
>>54876678
Sigmar is alive.
Myrmidia was steady drained by Chaos until death.
Ulric was killed by Teclis but Archaon finished him off and sent the last of his essence inti oblivion.
>>54876857
>Myrmidia was steady drained by Chaos until death.
What happen exactly?
>>54876678
Sigmar is the new god, the unifier, the conqueror, the emperor, the light to follow
Ulric is an old god, it's the power of the wolf in winter, of men in past nights, of guys that want fantasy space wolves
Myrmidia is an Athena rip off, also an old goddess of war, it's THE lady of anyone that doesn't live in bretonnia, she also has cooler knights
Hey /tg/ I'm intersted in the system and i have no earthly idea where to start. Any pointers?
Start at the beginning, continue through the middle until you reach the end, then stop.
But srsly, wtf is your question? Read the book and play a game, what are you asking about?
someone at the table reveals something about his character only he and the DM knew.
>Play Oriental Adventures
>Friend plays Drunken-Boxer
>Fail quest to save a bunch of people from getting shredded by the BBEG , children amongst them
>Go to Inn
>Make sure no one is drinking- Because we need to track that monster tomorrow
>wake up tomorrow- No boxer
>Tracker finds him completely drunk inside the out-house crying
>SURPRISE: He's not a Drunken-Boxer, he's just a Street fighter with a drinking problem
I can't pick beween the old, contentfilled 1st edition, and the cleaned up, summarized 2nd edition which so far only has the core out.
Anyone can give me insight or what their preference would be in a situation like this?
System is Feng Shui if anyone is familliar with it.
WHAT CAN THE HARVEST HOPE FOR, IF NOT FOR THE CARE OF THE REAPER MAN?
>>54875724
Death had two crowning moments. This
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjNqQourCBo
And the end of Thief of Time when the world is ending and the 4 Horsemen have assembled and Death turns to the Auditors and says
THE PROPHECY SAYS THAT WE MUST RIDE OUT, IT DOES NOT SAY WHO WE WILL RIDE OUT AGAINST.
I think the time he plays the song that'll end the universe in Soul Music also counts.
>>54877603
Death was one of the best Discworld characters. He was the Ultimate Reality but he was on our side. He had seen some shit and a lot of it was shit that hurt but he always did his job and when things went too far and he had no alternative he would kick ass.
He challenged the universe to a Rock Off and won.
Explain to me ...
>Be Tully
>Have enough gold to pay off ENTIRE debts of unified realms
>Be somehow unable to get enough troops to deflect and crush army of a single enemy family
What the actual fuck?
>>54875642
Haven't read in years, don't remember a thing, this is all guesswork.
Guess: Experienced companies are in short supply during wartime, everybody he wants to hire has already been hired by somebody else?
>>54875642
What do you mean? Tullies are the ones with the biggest and mostly unharmed army right now in the books. Those aren't Lannister men taking Dragonstone.
>>54876176
Tyrells.
Fucking idiot starts a thread when he doesn't even have the name right. This is also a /tv/ discussion so fuck off.
Is it just me or are these cards getting more stupid with every new set?
Post the most retarded cards
This is also pretty trash both in appearance and usage.
Commons should be simple, anon, so new players don't get discouraged ;)
>>54875608
I mean the entire concept of a sparring mummy, in combination with that not-so-great art.
My group has gathered with another friends group into one Discord to encourage One Shots and keep our campaigns nice and tidy instead of stuck in the awkward space that is DMs
I'm excited for this opportunity and want to find some interesting new systems to DM as one shots that aren't just D&D standard Fantasy or Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader/Dark Heresy as we already play long campaigns of those.
so fa/tg/uys, I would like to see some systems/settings that lend themselves well to being One shot adventures
>>54875309
I'm on a roll anyway so...
How about Strike!, A Game of Tactical Combat and Heedless Adventure?
Strike! is a generic system that exclusively uses a d6 for resolution, usually with no modifiers aside from advantage/disadvantage. This makes the game really really fast and simple to play (it's literally just "roll d6, see what happens on your chart"), which makes it ideal for oneshots. Because it's mechanics first and easy to refluff, you can convert just about any adventure from any setting/game (although there are some okay guidelines to just make shit up as you go as well). There are also a number of rules variants, for example a 2d6 variant (which does use modifiers, kinda PbtA style), or alternate skill systems that let you adjust how mechanically complex you want/fit the game to the genre.
While the above works as a sorta OK generic system alone, the main draw of the game is the Tactical Combat. This is basically a D&D-like, grid based squad focused skirmish minigame. It uses the same very simple resolution (d6+adv/disadv), retaining the speed and simplicity, but introduces all sorts of more complicated effects. To put emphasis on the teamwork aspect, each character gets to choose a Role on top of the Class, which enhances their powers in various ways. Classes themselves usually have 2-3 alternate paths and a number of alternate abilities to choose from each level, which leads to a really large amount of possible (and varied) characters. Fluff is decoupled from Class/Role, so if a player wants to, he can make up anything to fit any class/role to his character (or play the implied stereotype straight, if possible). Pic related is what I used for random generation (roll d20+d6) for a oneshot. Here >>54875074, I stat out RWBY characters (of all things) for fun. Enemies are created using simplified rules, and you can translate just about anything, including "unfair" or "titanic" opponents. Also, bunch of optional rules as usual.
Hit limit, questions?
My hand is forced, here, have the books too: https://www.dropbox.com/s/a1i5mhmasq77iqm/Strike%20Books.zip?dl=0
Trail of Cthulhu
Mutants and Masterminds
What are some interesting spiritual or political schisms that could arise within a forge world?
We are fluffing up a Mechanicus campaign and have the obvious Imperium/Mars divide for two of the factions. There is also the trinity between the Emperor, Motive Force and Machine God.
But what are some weirder suggestions to include in the campaign?
>>54875094
>Here be Necrons
>Tomb World is inactive and doesn't immediately wake up and activate all defenses
>All this hyper-advanced tech just lying around
>but it's xeno
>Or is it, since it might be of the Omnissiahs design?
>Who even is the Omnissiah, is it the Emperor or something else?
>Let's settle this the only way possible in the 41st milennium: WAR
>>54875094
-How many bonding studs can one use before he's mutilating the intended form of the machine?
-The local eletromagnetic storms produce much jamming and even spontaneous scrap code. Is this a sign of the Omnissiah to be studied or a chaotic taint? What do the electropriests think?
>>54875094
A person is able to cram in the usual Admech expected collective of augs into himself and not look like total shit
Another is a fully auged barely working postured bag of augs that may not even be human anymore.
Somehow, the one who stripped a few casing down to make them all fit and still maintain a human viage is the techheretic despite not inventing anything new, and doesn't carry any respect because he doesn't look like a complete fucking Transhumanist Speciestraitor introverted contrarian cunt.
How would you go about running a game in The Night Land's setting, /tg/?
>>54874928
First is finding a reason for an adventure.
Humanity has lived content, if bored shitless, for millions of years in the Redoubt.
>>54875172
Yeah good point. I guess it needs to be a real fucking good reason for someone to leave the Redoubt EVER.
Let me just get this through. I am 18m (a homebrewed swordsman/pyromancer) and I am always DM with my friends. But my D&D friends are consisted of a Redneck (a half orc berserker), a furry(an elven rogue), the rednecks father at times(a halfing mage), and a premarine(a lighting/pebble sorcerer). We play homebrewed d&d with a 3.5 edition book but new character sheets and i always use paper and pen for the adventures. But I want to find a D&D 5th edition group online that I can play with so I can actually get a taste of the most modern version of it or atleast s party of people that enjoy it like I do. Any advice on where to start?(Not saying its not fun to play with my buddies, we have completed like 7 chapters in a story about the war of the gods, I just want to expand my D&D limits.)
