Is dark matter and dark energy proof we will eventually need to update our standard model?
To the best of my understanding, both are only currently hypothesize to exist because it glues the standard model together.
>>8898926
>our calculations are wrong
>lets make up something retarded like dark matter to explain the unexplainable instead even though it has zero proof of existing
its like religion all over again
>>8898939
The device on which you're converting your pigshit insights into text, is powered by particles nobody's ever seen, you fucking mouthbreather.
>>8898926
>Is dark matter and dark energy proof we will eventually need to update our standard model?
yes.
standard model is shit.
pilot wave theory master race.
Red pill me on organ donation
>>8898878
First:
Stop saying "rED pill me".
>>8898878
>When you die, certain useful organs are removed from your corpse and used to help other living people have improved lives
That's it. There's literally no downside to it unless you think you'll miss your corneas in the afterlife.
>>8898878
>Sorry your wife only had a 95% chance of surviving, she's an organ donor so we unplugged her and gave her kidneys to David Cohen.
I'm 26 and I wanted to go university. My gf says I'm too old for this and I should do some other important things. Am I too old?
No you're still relatively young. You'll finish when you're 30, 29 or earlier if you go in the summer, too. Consider most doctors and Ph 's don't start a real career until they're 30. Go for it OP. I started uni at 27.
>>8898826
>my gf says
Stop
>>8898835
Damn, Einstein was alpha as fuck.
Has matter and energy always existed /sci/?
In order for the big bang to happen, the dense ball of matter and energy had to have come from somewhere. I mean, everything cant come from nothing, so has the 'something' that created everything ALWAYS existed? Hell, how does something even always have exist? They say time is a loop, but all loops STARTED with a point!
Its not that the concept of the universe's beginnings is impossible, its that human's still haven't found the actual formula for time.
Our concept of a beginning point and ending point is stupid.
>>8898488
matter always existed yes. nothing gets created or destroyed, it just transforms
>>8899289
So youre saying if I keep travelling back in time for eternity, there will always be matter? I mean how dies TIME not have a beginning point? This is madness. We all LITERALLY should not be here. How does matter just HAPPEN from NOTHING?
will the robots of the future turn on humanity?
not if we program them not to
i think there will be factions of good robots that want to protect humanity and evil robots who want to destroy it

Ai is impossible so no
Hey Anons! So I'm currently off for the Summer right now, but I'm currently enrolled at TTU, and I'm set to start Calculus next semester. Any suggested reading or media for said subject?

ITT: gamechanging study habits.
I just opened my eyes to the magic of timed breaks for getting schoolwork done. I took about two hours of total work time to write a paper that normally would have taken me five or six- mostly due to foot dragging, fatigue and distractions. All I did differently was set a timer to remind myself to take breaks at regular intervals. 45 mins of work, then 20 mins of fuckoff time. Painless. Dunno why I haven't been working that way all my life.
Anyone else got something like that?
>20 mins of fuckoff time
How do you use those efficiently to ensure proper rest? Meditation?
>>8898239
the only problem is my 5-10 min of fuckoff time turns into a 2 hour long binge
>>8898239
Just don't be a puss. Put some caffeine in your face and get it done. After that, all day is an untimed break.
REEEEEEEE
IQ DOESNT MATTER
WE ARE ALL CREATED EQUAL
PSYCHOLOGY IS A PSEUDOSCIENCE
I CAN BE THE NEXT GAUSS IF I PUT MY MIND TO IT
REEEEEEEEEE
>>8898076
Why are you so mad, is this how you deal with being a low iq brainlet. I think everyone with a low iq should be executed and euthanized, have them tested before they graduate grade school.
>>8898078
>I think everyone with a low IQ should be executed and euthanized
If what you mean by "low IQ" is anything under 130, you'd kill off 70% of the population (taking a wild guess). The economy would crash, most families would perish, morals would seriously decline, wars would break out, crime and poverty would spread like wildfire, people would get stupider and paranoid as fuck, the government would collapse, cities would be abandoned, and the world would go to shit. People would be too scared to do anything because they don't want to be executed.
>be an English/Classics major
>still enjoy science and math
>attend a math lecture
>every kid is cold and dissented from me
>tell my friend
Why are you guys so socially retarded and harsh towards the humanities?
Why should it matter? Why should there be a dichotomy?
yeah boi check these numbers
stem sux
>>8897772
Thats what a room full of thinking people looks like
There tends to be an inverse relationship between intelligence and people desperate for social interaction [no matter how meaningless or shitty], go figure.
>tfw all of life can be explained by the color wheel (emotion, seasons, color of food)

Can you explain the open mapping theorem through the color wheel?
>>8898230
fuck that, how do you propose to explain the color of food through the color wheel?
my man
is philosophy a science?
>>8897283
ok thanks
>>8897279
Science owes its roots to philosophy. Without philosophy, we wouldn't have the axioms that make up the foundations of the science you know and love today.
>>8897279
Philosophy is not a science, but science is a philosophy, specially an applied subset of logic.
>>8895941
Literally like this.
>>8895941
an underground diagonally angled spinning habitat to simulate 1G on Mars
but in the early days it will probably be large space campers and it mostly look like the later parts of E.T. the movie
everything would have dirt piled on top to protect againt radiation
People would be living in the deepest part of the valleys
What does it take to learn linear algebra and differential equations? Do you need all the comon core: algebra, trigonometry, analytic geometry and calculus?
>>8895811
You just need algebra for linear algebra.
>>8895819
And for differential equations?
>>8895821
differential equations is basically calc4

what is the best physics textbook for someone who wants rigor and the essentials? I dont want to page through tons of unnecessary crap
>>8894968
Just learn math if you want rigor
>>8894981
Maybe rigor was the wrong word. I just hate long winded intro textbooks. I like just the essentials.
>>8894987
Try Feynman's 3 books on introductory physics.
