natural selection isn't really a theory to be proven, it sort of like a concept

Wich pencil do you use?

I like pentel ones. Maybe I'll get a rOtring 600 .7mm but it is expensive af for a single pencil

I've tried a variety of different nice pencils, with mixed results.
I'm now using a crappy no-brand 0.7 mm, because it's reliable and doesn't give a fuck about being thrown around in a backpack.

Alright /sci/

I just had my gut bacteria tested in an attempt to find out about my debilitating health problems and chronic constipation which no doctor has helped.

These are the species of bacteria most prevent in my gut.

I have overgrowth of unknown clostridia species

also I have no lactobactillus growth

What causes humans to do this? I've lost so many pieces of candy, pencils, and water bottles this way.

>>
You are hastily trying to catch the item so you jerk your hand towards it. Not as accurate in that scenario so you hit the item instead of grasping it
>>
>>8892540
surely humans who were able to quickly snatch berries out of the air were able to coom their seed better, why hasnt this trait been naturally selected out of us?
>>
>>8892535
It probably goes back to our early hunting days. The things most humans grasp are their prey, so if it gets away unexpectedly it's better to hit it with a killshot than to let it get away.

Why is there such an intelligence gap between the intelligence needed to understand a concept and the intelligence needed to derive it? For example, it's easy to understand how to take a derivative using the limit of the difference quotient or quotient rule, or how integration by parts was devised from the antiderivative of the product rule, and millions of people learn this every year, but it took thousands of years of math for someone to come up with it.

What IQ would be required for someone to develop basic Calculus from knowledge of only the prerequisite algebra, geometry, and trig?

Learning:
>Target is set in front of the person and they are caught how to shoot at it and hit it, with a teacher guiding their hands

Discovering
>Target is invisible and its existence is only vaguely implied by a question someone posed, in Newton's case the question "Why are the orbits of planets ellipses?"
>Newton proceeds to find the target and learn how to hit it over and over again, then he teaches other people how to hit it

why do women have 2 X chromosomes? what's the point in having 2 identical copies of the same chromosome?
13 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>8891746
Redundancy. With two x chromosomes from the woman and one from the man, the chances of not having enough to produce female offspring are minimized.
>>
it's not "the same chromosome", they just have the same shape whereas the Y chromosome is shorter.
But the genes on the two X are different since they come from two different beings, same for every other pair of chromosomes really (except for uniparental disomies and other rare exceptions)
>>
Also less chance of an inherited dz, it's why x linked disorders only fuck males up cause they only have 1

Okay /sci/, it's a well known fact that 1/2+1/4+1/8+...=1. It may be less known that 1/3+1/9+1/27+...=1/2 and 1/4+1/16+1/64+...=1/3. It can be easily shown that 1/n+1/n^2+1/n^3+...=1/(n-1).

My question is what happens when we expand the second term over and over again? For example, instead of writing 1=1/2+1/4+... we can expand 1/4=1/5+1/25+... and rewrite it as 1=1/2+1/5+1/25+... But we can also expand 1/25=1/26+1/676+... and rewrite it as 1=1/2+1/5+1/26+... If we continue expanding, we end up with 1=1/2+1/5+1/26+1/677+1/458330+1/210066388901+... (if you want to continue it just square the denominator and add 1).

Is this a valid thing to do? The terms rapidly decrease to 0, so it must converge. But at the same time, since we are expanding into infinity before we even reach the 1/8 term in the original series, does this actually still converge to 1? And if it doesn't converge to 1, what does it converge to?

I don't know if this sum can be represented simply in terms of n. It can be represented in terms of the previous term pretty easily. But essentially I'm asking if we can have more than one ellipsis in a single sum? We are rewriting the sum as 1=1/2+(1/5+(1/26+...)+...)+1/8+...
>>
>>8891543
It's 1.2259024435287485386279474959130085213^2^(x+1)

Don't ask how I got that.

because he was a virgin fapper

all he did was look at crooked-teeth british industrial revolution slags that were walking around the street, i bet every day he went to his balcony and stared at those ugly ass elizabethan slags and fapped like an animal, shooting cum from his balcony and onto the street, hitting everyone unfortunate enough to not be aware of the fact that they were walking right past Newton the Fapper's house

for fuck's sake man how can you grow up to be an old british fuck and not manage to fuck at least an ugly fat slag? they have used-up, blacked out whores lying around the street all the time, they're like pieces of furniture, every street has a passed out slag, just grab one and fuck her
