Hello /po/
i found these instructions for how to make an origami weiner dog...but I can't figure out steps 9 and 10. (i got to step 10, but im not sure I have step 9 right) please help? (There are simpler weiner dog methods but i don't like them because they look too cartoonish)
It's using a variation of Montroll's Dog Base, which is used often in "Origami Sculptures" and also in "Origami La Era Nueva." Check those diagrams to see if it helps.

Did you really figure out how to made it?
Looks more like a normal dog then a wiener dog. Pretty cool nonethelesa though.
I'm seemingly able to make it hold and look like a glove somewhat but holy fucking hell it's ugly. Anyone done one before? How would you do it? It needs to be done from regular copying paper and I'm beginning to wonder if paper mache counts
perhaps make it like a gauntlet to give it articulation
Is your hand made out of one solid fucking block of flesh? fuck no. Its made out of a million fucking interconnected parts. Hence why most gloves mimic this. Just figure out a way to chain the paper.
I make gauntlets all of the time, circle it in multiple chains or parts to accompany the folds of your palm, then individual pieces for the fingers in separate pieces.
hey everyone,
is there a papercraft database out there, or anything like that? if not, i could try coding one, specially designed for /po/. there's plenty of blogs and such out there, but they're not super convenient.
I, a passerby hobbyist haven't seen a propper papercraft database and i think it would be a nice idea, however, who would store and maintain such database? if you want to program it would be a nice start although wouldnt it be easier to use an already existing file manager? only changes to be made are in tagging and sorting, it would be sweet for a database to exist since people would know what already exists and obtain it but some "improper" things could happen like someone uploading monetized works that, in the regard of papercrafting, things that are monetized are stupid hipsters that sell some simple bullshit on etsy, but other great, detailed and printed works could also be shared without permission and i believe that creators are susceptible to do a rant that could compromise such database...what im trying to say is that: if a database is to exist it better be something low like an IRC channel or the like, although paper crafting is still very unpopular so a normal webpage could also work with the hopes that no problems arise and after all you must start somewhere in my opinion.
hello somebody as this kitten diagram ?thank you

Did you find it OP? I am also real interested. It looks qt
yeah- anyone?
Qt! I must knooww!
Does anyone know how to open the file .MDL, tried some software more all give error, extract the file from a PS2 game
I am loading the file for you to see
http://www.mediafire.com/download/9ie080a7cd30r59/THEBEE~1.MDL
Something tells me this doesn't belong here
MDL is only a texture file that belongs to a UV map of OBj files. So really you have to open the OBJ file and the mdl texture is automatically shown if it exists
>>539182
Not really, MDL is the 3D file has the example CS models have .mdl extension.
Does anyone know where to get the ships from the Babylon (5) Project? Since all links point to dpileggispicks dot com and that site is long gone and for sale. So no more papercraft from there :(
I'm looking for the G'Quan Class Heavy Cruiser, the Sentri Class Fighter , the Vorlon Fighter, the Aurora Class "StarFury" Fighter and the Nial Class Heavy Fighter

Looking to get a Pepakura of Weltall from Xenogears. Been looking all over and for some reason it hasn't been made. Hoping to scale it up so that I can make a cosplay from it. Can anyone fulfill my request?
I do have experience making mech cosplays. Just take a look at my Eva Unit 01.
A Welltall model exists, it's really old though. I'll see if I can find it.
Here's what it looks like. Like I said, really old and not the best looking. Still, it does exist.
I figured that it would be best to ask the professionals on this one, but do any of you have some blueprints for an origami lampshade?
I'm poor as shit, and spending 50ÂŁ on a decent one isn't something I can justify as a sane human being.
If this is actually origami, nd not black magic, can anyone share the blueprints for this piece of art?
I'm not ashamed to bump this
>>540678
i believe the ones in your pic are papercraft desu i'm not sure but if you want a lampshade look up origami tessellations pick a pattern and if you have good non flammable paper you can fold one yourself
>>540679
chill out you didn't even wait a day this is one of the slowest boards
What's something cooler than cranes I could make? My friend is getting married in a few weeks, and I figured this would be a cheap way to get out of buying them a gift.
I don't mind learning a more complicated papercraft, but I'd prefer something that I can just use regular folding paper for with minimal cutting.
A thousand "1000 cranes"
go buy your friend a gift you cheap ass

thousand paper stars. check the general in the catalog. Look very nice and easy to do
Hey /po/ users, I was wondering if you had any advice for someone who has no knowledge of Origami, like where can I decent origami paper or what are some simple origami instructions for a beginner? any tips would be great!
>>540397
First of all, the paper : for the very first origami printer paper can be enough, when it reach its limits use something else. The something else i recommand is kraft paper. It's cheap, strong, thin, comes in large rolls and is even colored on one side sometime. Kraft paper is often sold as a wraping paper, or you can find it in every good art shop.
For instructions you can find many easy diagrams on internet or even tutorial on youtube (just search for origami on youtube). Try to find models you like and that are not way too difficult for you (number of steps in a diagram is often a good indication of the difficulty).
As a general advice i would recommend you to take your time, crease carefully and acurately and always check that the fold you made is correct (check it on the next diagram step). Also perseverance and patience are the key word here.

This is not a bad price, but its 500 pieces to start with, standard size is 15cm (about 6inch) I tend to use 3inch now. Michaels crafts usually has a 40 to 50% off coupon every week so you can pick up some there.

Learn the notation, Akira-Randlett system. If you can read it, it doesn't matter if the instructions are in japanese, english, spanish whatever, you can usually figure it out.
Happy Folding and Good Luck!
if you're just beginning, memo blocks, post it notes and printer paper can be great for making your first models- cheap, decent, and plentiful, if you make a mistake it doesn't matter as much, and you don't want to be learning and using up more pricey paper
Is wet folding with foil paper possible and also can every origami model be wet folded or given a wet finish?? What paper do you guys use for it??
>>540681
Wet folding and foil paper are incompatible...
Every origami model can be wetfolded if you use a paper that can handel being wetfolded.
"Tant" paper can be a good start.
>>540681
There are two things that can be called wet folding.
The first one is the "real" wet folding, usually it goes like this : take a pretty thick western type paper (eg elephant hide), make it wet and start to fold with your wet piece of paper. This will give you nicer angles and more lifelike forms if you do it right. when you're finished the paper should still be wet, at that point do the shaping, put restraints on your origami so it keep its shape while drying and voilĂ you have your wetfolded origami.
The second one could be called wet finishing. For this one take any paper type paper (that is, non foil composite). Fold your origami and for the shaping you wet the parts you want to shape, then you shape them into form, then you keep them in that form while it's drying (you either put restraints on the origami and let it dry or you hold it in your hand and dry it with a hairdryer). You can also add MC (methyl cellulose) to the water, this will help the paper to stay in place.
>>540693
here is (approximately) how wet folding works : paper is made of fibers, those fibers are held together by a binder (like cellulose). Water will soften the effect of that binding agent, and tus paper gets more easily shaped. When the water dry the bind acts again on the fibers of the paper but if the paper has dried in a certain position the bind will held the fibers together in this position.
The first kind of wet folding is suited for strong western paper because they're are strong and can resist the process of wet folding, they also already contain a fair amount of binding in them. Eastern paper on the other hand are usually too thin and don't have enough binding in them so use wet folding. It's often said that one of the best paper for wet folding is "elephant hide" which is 110gsm (printer paper is 80gsm and tissue is usually around 25 gsm). Because of the thickness needed it's usualy not suited for some sort of origami like supercomplex origami of insects etc.
heyhey,
So, I'm working on a somewhat larger papercraft project, (about 3 cubic feet in size) and by the time I am done, I don't want it to look like it's made of paper. At the moment it is assembled in sections and coated in a hardening resin, but I need a material to put on top of the resin that will let me fill in any cracks, do general re-contouring, and be paintable without looking like shit.
I've seen some people use auto body filler, but this would be way too pricey for me. Know any good alternatives? was wondering if some sort of clay would be a possible route, but it needs to be a material that can be fully smoothed out.
got some pics of what you're doing?

I do not own a camera, but I'm doing the adjutant papercraft from Starcraft

Pic not very post related.

it is not wintercrap. it is available on etsy using a google reverse image search.
i keep seeing a lot of these on etsy lately. makes me think i should start doing them myself since the seem to sell so well.
what i do not get is why can't you afford $10 and always ask for everything to be given to you? if you want it that bad what is wrong with paying a little bit of money?
