Hello, /po/
After my printer broke I decided to utilize Staples' printing services to print out the rest of my project.
Needless to say this is a bad idea and I ended up paying $15 for paper with glossy ink that isn't the same color as my original prints.
So I've decided I want to replace my old, busted printer. The problem is I want something that can print on cardstock (~100gsm). My old printer was capable of such a thing but my old printer was also a big piece of crap in other ways (Epson NX230 if I remember right).
So, /po/ what in-home printers do you use to print your larger projects on thicker paper? I'm hoping to find something that I don't have to spend an absurd amount on. The printer, at least. I know I'll always be paying for overpriced ink.
I'm here enough to know that the board's slow, but does no one here print their own projects?
If so, which service can you recommend for printing?
Well, I have my projects printed at a shop nearby here, because I was tired of my printer "clogging" with the thickness of the paper. If you want a printer, basically search for one thats good with thick paper, otherwise have everything printed in the same place at the same time. Provide them with the paper if you want to.
I've learned my lesson by not printing my projects all at once, but I'm still curious what other /po/sters use in their own homes. Brand recommendations, specific models, things to avoid, etc.
So I made a thing.

Not a space ship. It's a Russian fighter.
It's on youtube. One of the most difficult origami pieces I've done.

Hello, Does anyone know of a good detailed (ISH) origami boxer dog?
Been trolling through my books but so far zilch.
Thank you
Sigh... No one?
How about the one in Origami Sculptures by John Montroll?
>>542056
I like the one by Peterpaul Forcher but you're probably looking for something more complex.

Do you apply the fine art of origami to your toilet paper before wiping your ass?
>>541907
No, I do it after.
Seriously though, how is this place so /po/lite?
Some people do (pic related).
I've made a model with regular paper, like the one we use for printing, and I would like to toughen it, but if I use white glue with water and newspaper the model will crash because paper its very tight. Some advice, /po? Any spray or something like that
>>541900
When I model using cardstock, I use liquid superglue to do all my gluing, because it forms a staggeringly strong composite material.
>>541900
Id say making up a plan at this point is a whole lot harder than going into it prepared.
Honestly, if its a small model, just remake it with tougher paper, and use good glue at joits.
Regular paper is a bitch to toughen, because it will wrinkle twist, and deform when anything starts to soak into it.

its a helmet, quite big, I didn't think a lot before doing it. Thanks anyway, anon

First time posting here.
I am trying to make Marisa's Mini-Hakkero,pic related, and it is hard as fuck.
My most skillful papercraft that I have made is the Spider-Jockey from Minecraft a long time ago so I don't have a lot of experience.
Can somebody tell me how to make the opening mechanism for this?
Any help is appreciated.
Link to full papercraft here if you need it:

I thinks it should look like this, but only has 2 cover.

Kinda got it,but I think it works differently here.
Take a look at pic related.I think you stack the parts to make some kind of sliding switch that push the Yin-Yang parts but I don't know what connects with what.
Should I dump the whole template to tell me which part does what or where it goes?I have the base almost figured out but the top part is a pain.
>>541862
Dumping anyway to make your life easier.
These will be printed as 8-pagers by next week.
change the 7 to a different font

looking for diagram or tutorial, can someone help?
Origami Knight by Robert Harbin
>>541820
I second this
The diagrams are in a book called Origami 3 (by Robert Harbin). I've checked my personal diagram collections and I don't have a copy of this book, might want to check the book thread. Good luck.
Hey guys.

Hey /po/, I'm pretty new to origami, but I found an image of an origami Mudskipper, and I'd really like to make it, but i don't want to pay 30+ on a book that might not even exist anymore for a single craft. Can anyone help me out here?
This model is pretty good (and the instructions are free): http://www.jackychan.org/chuang_zuo/ye_shu/Mudskipper.html

Thanks!
I used to do origami as a little kid, but as I got older, I just stopped. Fast forward to when I found this board, I got really mad at myself for forgetting how to make origami. The main problem is I have the dexterity of Michael J. Fox. Any advice for helping train my hands?
Pretty much everybody can learn it, it just takes some time and practice. I'm kinda disabled (almost no mobility in my right wrist, so I'm basically 1.5-handed) - and origami is my favorite pastime for the last 3 years. First stuff I tried looked like shit and I almost gave up, but I'm so glad that I didn't. It's so rewarding to finally get it right, and origami is great for nice cheap gifts.
For an easy start you could try looking into "Pureland Origami", those diagrams are easy peasy and specifically designed for people with motoric (or mental) disabilities, and some of them are pretty complex regardless. Though personally I prefer modular stuff, when you fuck up 1 module you just throw it away and make another one without having to discard the whole model.
