Anybody here ever grow smokable plants? No, I'm not talking about cannabis. Tobacco itself seems quite hard to grow, but other things like wild tobaccos, lobelia, coltsfoot, etc seem relatively simple.

I'm thinking about setting up a small garden with a few of these.

Last one reached bump limit.

Minor update: paid the small fee to have the art production mocked up. They'll send it across in 3-5 days. If I'm satisfied with that, I'll pay the outstanding cost and they'll go into full production. Which should take 10-15 days. So i will potentially have patches in my hands within 20 days ready to be shipped.

Now all we need to discuss is payment options people are happy with.

>Paypal
>Anons directly pay me, I package and send the patches
+Easiest method.
+Most people probably already have an account.
-Trust involved. Some people might not be happy sending payment to a stranger.
-Some people might not have an account.

There's Amazon Marketplace but it costs £25/month for the privilege and fuck that. Alternatively, we could explore the option of passing this off to /k/'s Nugget Store. I could send a bulk package to them to be sold through their website but dunno if we really want to lose control of our patch in such a way. Plus they might be a bit more expensive if they want to make a small profit whereas I will be selling them at cost.

Any other suggestions?

If you're selling them at cost and it's like $10 for a patch+shipping, I'm happy with the PayPal option. If I get burned for $10, no big deal.

I'm not sure if this is the right board but I came here to tell a story. I can green text it, but it might come off a little amateur, I'm not really a writer. But maybe it'll be an easier way to chronicle the last eight years or so of my life.

I've been looking up small solar panels online lately and it seems the Anker 14W Dual-Port Solar Charger is a good choice. It's $60 though. I haven't bought it yet so can't provide any personal experience, but reviews look pretty good. Any panel as small as the one in your pic is barely going to be able to charge anything.

Here's a question for this thread.

I'm looking into getting a Fenix UC35 mainly because it has a micro USB charging port for an 18650 battery (which I have many as I vape). Just from my short reading around, it needs around 3.4v in order to charge. Are there any portable solar panels that put out around the 3.4v range anyone knows of? Or am I doing my math bass ackwards?

Flying, is this the most dangerous hobby?

There are hundreds upon hundreds of videos on the internet of crashes involving private aircraft, nearly all of them due to engine failure during take-off.
The pilots themselves say that you must be always ready for an emergency situation because they WILL happen, and each one you survive prepares you for the next one that will eventually come, no matter how good and well maintained the plane is, problems just happen in private aircraft.

It looks fun as shit, but godamn, a hobby where shit might just happen and you simply crash and die? Why people do this?

>>
> its fun, but its dangerous
just like almost everything :D

i think it just depends how much risk you are willing to take. and how real that risk is. i think its quite safe but you should look up your national statics, but if you do it right and aren't a drunk farmer in a plane used twice a year for spraying pesticide. it should be fine like comrecial flight.
for example in my country many small planes have car engines (since they are developed on a far far higher budget) and they are really fucking relaible.

Let's say you're hiking and you lost your backpack after falling in a river. You'very been swept downstream and become kinda lost. All you have is two pouches on your belt measuring 3"x6" (pic related). What would you want to be inside those pouches. Assume you have a belt made of 50' of woven paranoid and a relatively large knife Attached to that belt.

Would anyone be up for some kind of a group buy for an /out/ patch/badge?

I'm not even sure how we would go about this, it's just an idea for now. It doesn't even have to be specific to /out/ or 4chan necessarily like some of the other boards projects, just a cool design related to the outdoors maybe. Anyway, if there's enough interest we can start brainstorming ideas, finding out suppliers etc. otherwise just let this thread die.

What's the word on pack animals?

Seems like a goat is the top choice for light loads and rough terrain.

There was an article in backpacker about this once.

Some guy in either WA or OR would let you rent his goats for trailcamping. The author and a friend did it, and they said it was hell because goats are stubborn as fuck. One would only move if you sprayed him with a spraybottle full of water, even though the guy who owned the goats specifically said it was only to be used for punishment, not motivation. The author used it for motivation anyways. I always thought that was really shitty of him.

Hey /out/ I'm doing some survival camping and wanted to try to make it gucci as possible.

We'll be doing lean-tos, no tents. This will be in the northern prairies probably around -20 to -30C. I'm thinking of doing a lean-to with a raised bed if time allows and a rakovalkea beside it. I'll have the afternoon to build it. Any suggestions to make it comfy and warm?

I'm actually gearing up to order things this week. I'm one week behind. I'll be getting colorful heirlooms and things like purple potatoes/sweet potatoes. Definitely many types of heirloom tomatoes this year from seed. My problem is that I have tons of seeds saved. I just need to sit down and take stock and plan things out.
