Hey /o/. I want to see if there is interest in making a design group here for CAD and stuff that is automotive related. I use Google Sketchup to design parts for my car that I then 3D print and I was wondering how many of you do the same.

Hi people,
I was thinking of a thing, want to hear your opinion.
Is the top speed that a car can reach an indicator of the status of the engine?
Let me give you some details.
Let's say that a car, for example, is rated at 130 mph top speed by it's manufacturer, brand new.
So, if someone buy an used car, properly serviced and in very nice conditions, warm up the engine and do a full speed run, and the car reaches and/or exceede the rated top speed (given by GPS, not the on board speedo), can someone say that the car still produces the horsepower it has?
In my understanding, given a car aero coefficient and drivetrain, then it's the horsepower that makes the full speed.
Am I wrong?

Sup fags, just picked up an 82 Corolla SR5 for 2200 USD.
Its an A/T, im keeping it that way, and the 1.8l 3TC has aftermarket headers and exhaust system.
Its a little rough around the edges but the engine runs perfectly and doesnt leak a drop.
Old owner threw in a replacement fender, inner fender plastic, replacement grill, and corner marker.
Plans are to restore it back to original condition, which is 90% there, and DD it.
Need to repaint the fender/hood, clean and polish the OEM wheels, redo some of the interior, and remove the headers/exhaust.
Oh and atleast upgrade the brakes and add swaybars.
What are some good active forums that i can become a member of?
Also a good place to buy stock parts from?

The fender is the only fucked up thing, i have a replacement.
Also i bought an A/T on purpose because i spend 3 hours in rush-hour traffic every afternoon, cant be fucked to shift.

These days you have the choice between a couple of I4 gasoline and diesel and sometimes a "high powered" V6

Looking for a hot hatch under 30k in Australia.
There are so many options, primarily looking at demo fiesta sts but Golf GTI and even the Kia Proceed GT are tempting buys.
Im looking at the secondhand market with less than 5 year old cars, which hot hatch should i go for?
I dont need it to be family orientated or particularly safety orientated, I just want enough power and handling for a fun daily driver.

The heard the rule of thumb is that you should never buy a car that ends up costing you more than a years salary after tax. But there are so many other variables namely credit score, other expenses in your life, and the general cost of running the car like insurance, guzzoline, and maintenance.
But first you have to get approved for a car loan by a bank. Never go finance through a dealer. Buy a used shitheap outright instead if you have to.
That said, take a good hard look at your finances before you ever make a big investment.
