I'm looking for my first car that's mainly going to be used as a commuter car, but still enjoyable. I was debating between these three cars. They're all around $30k, with the S60 being a bit more. I'm also considering a 2-3 Series or Audi A4, but I'm not a big fan of BMW and my family has always had bad experiences with older Audis.

2016, all the cars will be new or maybe 1-year leased. Really depends on what sort of deal I can manage.

Sure, enjoy your ugly design, too much safety bullshit, numb steering, and bad visibility.

So I took my car to get the differential fluid and transmission fluid changed. I just reached 55k miles. After the little shop (oil can henry's) was done, i drove the ~2 miles home. After it sat in the garage for a few hours, i went to drive it and now theres a bad grinding sound whenever I try to go forward or back while turning the wheel. This only happens in 1st gear and reverse. Sounds like its coming from the back of the car. Did they fuck my differential? I called and told them, but it was 10 minutes to close and i am bringing it back tomorrow.

There's not enough info here. Your just going to get wild reaction and conjecture.

Go pull the fill plug on the diff. Stick your pinky in. Is it thick gear oil?

I don't have a shop or lift. Its way easier to pay someone else for stupid shit like this.

I have a 08 Jeep Patriot that just had its transmission shit the bed. They quoted me 5k to replace it. I have had issues mechanically with the patriot consistently creep up every couple years.

I am am going in tomorrow to see about trading in for value towards another Jeep. instead of putting that much money into a car I know will have something wrong with it again in 18 months. I was looking at Renegades, does anyone know anything about them? Im pretty much just looking for another small sized SUV. Any recommendations would be great!

>trading in for value towards another Jeep

Your Jeep continues to shit the bed so you want to give them even more money wit a new car purchase. This is not a logical decision, jeep routinely comes up as one of the less reliable brands.
>>
>>15080228
Also I think it's cute how Americans take a Fiat PANDA and re-badge it as a Jeep "RENEGADE" and it somehow becomes more credible.
>>
>>15080228
Anon is right. You need to go for a different brand. I understand the whole isolated incident thing, but Jeeps are known for unreliability

can light weight wheels improve ride noise, vibration and harshness? (ignoring the tires factor, or given the same set of tires)

these cunts should start a sideline making cf wheels.

and yes
>>
>>15079729
Not really.
They will improve acceleration, braking, and handling.
As well as making life easier on your drivetrain and suspension.
>>
If anything the shocks will have to work overtime on bound and rebound to replace the wheel

Should I buy a 99-04 Mustang GT ($3K+)
or a 92-96 C4 Corvette LT1 ($5K+)?
Also considering a 4th gen Camaro.

Manual only either way.
And I don't care about reliability since this won't be my DD. I'm looking for a fun weekend toy to modify and race.
On a budget, too.

>>
>>15079707
Can't go wrong with those LT1/LT4 engines. I own a 94 Firebird and that engine can take some shit.

If you go the 4th gen route, you're going to have to upgrade all the suspension bushings (and I mean all of them) to polyeurthane.

What do you do for them?
>>
>>15079697
I split between working the commercial counter, answering phones and talking to garages/mechanics, finding them parts, sourcing hard to find stuff, etc, and driving one of the little tacomas delivering said stuff. What I'm doing depends on who is working and what we need. I much prefer driving to actually doing work and answering phones, even though we can't speed or beat on the trucks anymore.

Previously I was retail, and I cover the retail area sometimes. It's the worst shit ever. Commercial is the better of the two evils.
>>
>>15079709
Agreed, I used to work retail for Vatozone and fucking hated it, but why do you hate your job if you work the gravy shit?

A friend tipped me off about a Toyota Supra Mk3 that had been standing on some driveway since he was a kid, so naturally I knocked on the door to get a rough estimate of what he wanted for it.
Out comes some old dude, 70 years old or so. He tells me he bought the car in '98 and it's been standing on that driveway since around '99 for no particular reason except he got bored with it.
Anyway, the car has about 44000 miles on the clock, minimal visible rust (gonna go back soon to check underneath), interior looks like new, and there are no modifications to the car. He wanted some time to think over his price, but I'm gonna try to get it off him for about 1000-2000 dollars or so.
Now, what I'm looking for is pretty much a good intro car for more advanced repair work and tinkering, and also a good first car with a bit of actual power in it as I've only been driving shitboxes until now. Is it reasonable to consider buying this car or am I just setting myself up for failure?

If you know that you're buying a project then by all means go for it.

>He actually got a boomer who knew what he had to sell

holy shit OP, you're a hero to us all.

Just look online for what to check for in engines that haven't run in years. If it is in as good a condition as you say, don't be afraid to offer more than 2 grand. Don't go insane with something like $5k+, but don't try to lowball him with something like that within your grasp.
>>
>>15078812
Meh they're slow but you could do much worse as a project car.

I would find a MK3 Forum and see what are the common issues with those cars, and see how difficult they are to fix before diving in tho.

I told them, I'll pay another day and they gave me some unofficial, paper that looks like a reg, but its not.

Can I just go back, and tell them, they wrote the incorrect ammount, and they'll change it without much hassle, or this over and done with? I have a copy of PO's title release that shows $500 as the purchase price.

And when you get into an accident and the damages are over $500 your car is considered salvaged.
