yes and no, its called unified communications or "convergence" and is used to connect your phones 802.11 to the cars blu tooth. Get with the times gramps the internet will soon be a connection of one entity. A lot of it is meme-tier shit marketed to millenials who want ipod support, however we are seeing more and more convergence from vehicles to wireless networking.

who here /lexus/ or at least is familiar with the 2nd Gen is250? I'm going in to look at one tomorrow. I know the is350 is a lot more >fun but it's just barely outside my price range and is250 will have AWD and probably that mark levinson audio set for dank eurobeat.

I really just need it for a DD in Ohio, anyone own one of these or ever worked on them before? How cramped is the engine space? I don't want to be a cuck to lexus service prices so I'm gonna try to stick to doing maintenance myself

You dont need awd, just get good winter tires.
Save until you can afford the bigger engine

college student atm senpai and I drive a salvage civic coupe with probably no airbags, so I kinda don't want to die anon.

I'm also a really shitty driver and I'm probably going to get winter tires regardless of drive, wouldn't AWD still outperform RWD? Does Toyota still call it All-Trac?

I also want to get that backup camera because my rear parking is woman-tier, so I'm probably looking at the highest trim available for this, aren't I?

I don't think I can save an extra 4 or 5 grand just shitpost about pulling slightly better on the highway and spinning out trying to be dagumi but I dunno maybe I should just take your advice
>>
>>15091310
Seriously just get the 350. It's so much better than the 250. Also you don't need AWD, especially if you only live in Ohio. Winter tires + RWD is perfectly doable for me in Canada.

Ok...so...
My Great Aunt passed away a few months ago. She lived in New York state. She had a car that hasn't been registered/inspected in NY for the last few years(bad health, couldn't drive)
My aunt has offered to give me the car. (not an awesome car by any means but it's in great shape and only has 45k on the clock)

My dumb question is; will I have to get the car registered and inspected and whatever other bullshit NY may require just to make this thing legal to drive home to Texas only to have to pay again to get the car registered in Texas?
Or is there some sort of "temporary" tags I can get on the car just to make it legal for the 1400mile drive?

Might be an idea just to look at a shipping company, or look at hiring a van and trailer.

Either one of them could be cheaper, almost certainly less hassle
>>
>>15091226
Yeah, I've run that through my head. I'm just hoping to be able to drive it to make a semi-cross country drive with it.
>>
do you live in an emissions test county? if not just register the car fly to ny with the plates and put them on then drive home.

My own property

I do my own oil changes.

I do it in my own apartment complex, since I have a truck I don't even really need to lift it. It has enough ground clearance, stock, that I can just put it on a slight incline, crawl under it, and drain it.

It takes about 15 minutes to do.

You'd be amazed at how much unsprung weight ties into performance, so start off by gettung the smallest Enkei RPF1's that will fit around your brake calipers.

Next, you want to get a nice suspension setup (simple lowering springs on stock shocks along with a set of sway bars will do for now). The extra sidewall you'll gain from the lower diameter wheels will make up for harsher spring rates and keep your ride quality.

Dont do this immediately, but once you need a brake service; get a set of street ceramic pads and stainless steel brake lines. If you want to further reduce your unsprung weight, look into two piece rotors (usually saves 5lbs per corner)

Finally, some breather mods (intake/exhaust).

You can always spice it up by doing a a few styling mods such as grills, spoilers, tint, lip kits. Just try to stay away from body-kits: they're usually shit quality.

Put premium fuel in it.

Is a miata worh it? I currently drive an old Honda Civic and I saw a qt3.14 miata, pic related.

How do they work as a daily driver, and are they (civic level) reliable?
14 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
They're fine as a DD only if you don't need a lot of space and if you don't mind a 0-60 time of eventually
>>
If it's rust-free and it's had the timing belt done, do it. It will be more reliable than most cars of that age, but it's still a 25-year-old car and at this point will require basic repairs and maintenance. All of which will be inexpensive to buy and very simple to wrench on.

What year is the car? Do you have any pictures or other information?

>>15090661

GM have been forced to re-recall thousands of cars across Europe after it was found the previous recall to prevent the cars bursting into flames was causing fires.

>>
In other news, Mercedes and Bentley had to recall all their cars outside of Europe, because the wheels tend to fall off spontaneously. European customers may remain calm as this doesn't breach the emission limits.

>>

Mostly true.
GM recalled a group of cars they had recalled because the fixing the fuze which let your heater catch didn't stop your heater catching fire.
Bentley didn't bother to tighten up a bunch of wheel nuts.
IDK Mercedes.
How's your whole stop start airbag thing anyhow.
I have a man who is paid to worry about all that stuff.

Everyone talks about LS1 swapping an RX-7.

But has anyone ever rotary swapped a Corvette? If so, how well did it work?

not well, blew apex seals in a month

rotary doesn't have the power to tow around anything over 3000 lbs

should have gone with a better ls
