Diesels are shit tier for reliability and maintenance costs unless you get some old piece of shit that's falling apart around the engine. Even then, the LS will blow the doors off it in terms of performance and durability.

What's your favorite car YouTuber? What do you think of the popular ones?

Harry's Garage is my favorite.

I find Salomondrin and Shmee too annoying to watch. VehicleVirgins is shit also. SuperspeedersRob is questionable, sometimes his content is good sometimes it's shit.

Harry's Garage and Nick Murray are probably the comfiest although different. No yelling or annoying music.

He's a faggot, but for some reason him talking is enjoyable.

Looking for a ~$15k older sports oriented hatchback, sedan or wagon. AWD or RWD, must be a manual, preferably more than 20 years old. (Yes I already looked at the sticky)

I feel like my budget is high enough to find what I'm looking for, but I haven't had any luck on Craigslist yet. It seems every older car on that site is either a cheap, barely running junker or a super expensive 0 miles show car. Just trying to find that happy medium. Can you help?

I forgot to include the coupe bodystyle in my list. Definitely wouldn't mind a two door, as a matter of fact I'd prefer one.
>>
Look in places other than Craigslist.

You might just have to drive by on the right day, to find some old man selling his old baby.

Look for a dealership that is into that kind of thing.

Thread for people buying a used car. Where we share our advice, experience and opinions.

---

I am looking at buying a 94 Honda Accord for $800 it hasn't been driven in two years and the owner says it in good condition. Is it a risk? This is Australia. So a year's registration will be $700, along the other admin cost that will total $100.

Buying a 23 year old car, that has been abandoned for 2 years and only costs 700 bucks is always gonna be a risk

>Holden Astra
lmao, won't GM let the britbongs and ausfags know they are buying Opels and their cars are just rebadget shit to feel better about themselves?
>>
>>16463036
any car left for 2 years is a risk. did they at least start it up once a week?

Is any of this stance shit actually practical at all or is it just special snowflake rice?

I understand lower ride height and spoilers can reduce aerodynamic drag and cambered wheels can help maintain traction but all of this shit seems way out of proportion.

This kind of shit came from Japan and drifting for the most part, right? Isn't drifting generally below the speed where it could benefit from the reduced aerodynamic drag from a car lowered and kitted that dramatically? Also - camber. I can see a few degrees maybe for extra grip specifically for drifting and going around corners regularly, but stomped-on hotwheel tier shit seems so ridiculous that it probably loses any actual drive benefit at that point and actually makes it substantially worse.

Are you telling me these people buy up these cars to the point of inflating their prices exponentially, spend thousands upon thousands of dollars buying kits, suspension system, special tires, and all sorts of other bullshit for something which destroys the ride quality, drivability, and physical body of the car for what is basically aesthetic modification?

>Is any of this stance shit actually practical

What do you think, buttercup? Does having half an inch of ground clearance and tire contact patches of bicycle tires sound good?
>>
>>16462777
stance started from a combination of drift and bozosoku
rear camber is useless and front camber is used only to get as much traction as possible on a corner
aero is only important if youre drifting at +100kmh
but yes people buy up these cars to the point of inflating their prices exponentially, spend thousands upon thousands of dollars buying kits, suspension system, special tires, and all sorts of other bullshit for something which destroys the ride quality, drivability, and physical body of the car for what is basically aesthetic modification

would you know how much it would cost to modify? Roll cage, seats/seat belts, all the shit you would need to compete in a rally america event. What i would love to do is the pure rally stages, but to compete on an actual course requires a whole lot of shit it seems, is this true?

"By extending the wheelbase by two inches, as well as bringing down the roof and hood height (by approximately 1.0 and 1.6-inches, respectively), the development team lowered the center of gravity and created a wider and more composed vehicle."
