Is this an appropriate topic for this board?
I need to install a stereo system into an old (i.e. outdated) car I bought. I'll be reusing my classic MB Quart speakers, A/D/S sub, and PPI PowerClass amps from back when those brands were great.
But what's the deal with modern head units?
Modern car stereos are retarded from the factory. Who wants to pay $500 extra for an already outdated, slow GPS paired to a slow, low-res touchscreen?
Here's my ideal: a basic AM/FM/aux car stereo with a hardware volume control that also has a touchscreen. The touchscreen would be primarily intended as 1) a backup camera display and 2) a fully interactive screen for my Nexus phone.
I'd be okay with losing the AM/FM functionality, but it's a nice, bare minimum, oh-I forgot-my-phone source.
I *don't* want one of those Chinese Android head units. The goal is to minimize the amount of quickly obsoleted tech installed into the car. This is a double-DIN, by the way.
Any thoughts?

I have an Alpine CDE-W296BT. I think it looks decent for what it is. And since the button lights are RGB, I could adjust them to look like the other interior buttons, so it looks way less ricey.
Personally, I don't really care for a touch screen. I don't have a backup camera and I don't really look at the screen. All I want is Bluetooth calls, audio and USB playback.

QTDDTOT - I have a question about the downpipe to manifold gasket on my DC2 Integra. Same flange as pic related. When I took it off there was no gasket. Are those rings the gaskets? Do I need to replace those or am I good to go? I'm not really sure how to find this information online.

You don't need to replace them. Never replaced and never had any issues on my DC4, didn't replace them on my NA1 either and never had a problem.
