you dont need to take a class, thats overkill if you just want to help your dad work on his car or better your skills.

If you want to help your dad with his GTO I'd suggest reading up on some GTO specific forums or buying a manual reading everything on it and then just doing it.

example: there's this dude on youtube I watch who did a 2jz-gte swap into his Toyota Cressida all by himself, his dad taught him the basics but everything that had to do with the swap, he learned all himself through the power of the internet.

You have to look at cars like Legos, specifically the older cars.

the GTO is in storage right now, there was a fire 2 years ago and it got a tad scorched, so it is a bit out of reach at the moment, would you say a 97 dodge neon counts as an older car? that's what I own and could mess around with if I wanted, obviously i'm a bit of a poorfag so nothing super expensive, but is there like, a good place to start I guess? do you think there'd be anything online about people working on them? so far I've seen people mess with replacing the stereo but that's it.

It's basically the figure skating or skateboarding of motorsports. It's just a judge sport not really a race but kinda since the lead car has to pull farther away from the opponent

team drifting is just judged on how nice you look and how close the group stays together, but that really isn't as competitive since team drifting is just mostly for fun.

D1 and FD are different with their systems
D1 has a computer judging as well, FD is just 3 dudes judging but in D1 there's both incase the cpu fucks up.
D1 and FD both have matches with
In D1 they'll do qualifying the 1st day with single runs and the cpu tracks the speed and angle of the driver
The 2nd day they pair up the drivers based on the results from qualifying, so it's even and shit is done in a martial arts tournament kinda way
3rd day is just the finalists from the matches from the second day.
The cpu doesn't really decide who wins the judges use the driver performance info from the runs to help them decide
Both FD and D1 have every match where they give both drivers the chance to drive lead, so 2 runs minimum each match but if both driver appear to be even for both those runs and performing at a similar level, they'll give them an extra round.

It's actually okay if you turn traction control off. The worse part is that you can't turn off autosaving whenever you switch your active car, meaning it's impossible to try out cars without buying them permanently.
