I really want to get into Metal but I don't really know where to start. What is your favorite metal band? Or what do you think some of the best sub-genres of Metal are? I am honestly curious and want to hear what you guys have to say.
Pic unrelated
What music do you listen to now?

I listen to a lot of twee and 80's new wave believe it or not but am getting older now and want something more fast pace and angry, I guess. Also, I want to expand my musical repertoire.
I'd suggest that you should start with the "entry level" stuff, like the classic and more known banda such as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Megadeth, etc., after that if you liked their respective styles, you should search for more of that same subgenre.
Can someone tell me why they hate Queen so much? I mean they're not great but they're not horrible enough to demand the kind of hate on /mu/
are u just contrarian
It's the fanbase and reddit. I love Queen but some of their fans are cringeworthy.
They're a neat band I enjoy every now and then. /mu/ has horrible taste in general, so you should really ignore what they say for the most part.

>/mu/ has horrible taste in general
nah. /mu/s charts although not too high-brow or avant-garde have some pretty amazing albums and the albums that get spammed here as mucore are pretty decent senpai.
let's hear what your taste is. name 5 to 10 of your favorite/best albums.
This is a good album, but what's the deal with the overuse of dynamic compression? Everything mixed so loudly it's clipping to near distortion at a few times. Sure it's not MBDTF or Raw Power bad, but for a Jazz album, was that really necessary?
Any particular moments? I assume you just have some stolen file.

It's not terrible but I notice what you mean; I think they just wanted it to have a more palatable/up front sound to people who were used to listening to mainstream indie and weren't used to the totally clean/spacious production style most modern jazz albums have
Also some of the instruments seem to have been recorded with the mic way too close. Especially the trumpet on Miss Understanding

I'm a part of what some people call the "alt-left" and it feels punk as fuck. It feels like an actual counter culture, or rebellion against the heteronormative cis patriarchy that dominates America.

What do you think /mu/ ?
Over the past few years I have found most of my favorite albums from this board.
A week back I discovered "sweet trip" here from a thread discussing shoegaze (And loveless).
I listened to :
>velocity: design: comfort
>you will never know why
Loved both of them. Can't seem to decide which one I like more. Thoughts? Do they have any album better than these two in your opinion?
Also, can they be called a shoegaze band?
I personally really really like V:D:C because I seem to just keep coming back to several tracks from it and it's good as a comprehensive album.
>tfw the guitar comes in on Chocolate Matter
>tfw it comes in on Design : 2 : 3
some seriously Good Shit folks

DSCO is like the perfect pop song. It progresses so naturally yet never misses a beat.
Even the longer, multi-sectioned tracks have perfect transitions and atmosphere. Really one of the best albums of the 2000s imo.
>sweet trip
