Hey mu/, just wanted to know what ressources you guys use for learning hot to play piano.
I've been playing for 5 years, but i think i need more mental speed so, anything is welcome (theory, harmonics, improvisation, rythm, tricks/hints, etc.)
thank you guys
>>70552609
Well you've been playing for way longer than I have, but I try to learn by thinking about music theory and then practice the application of it by playing and messing with backing tracks
Even if it's not the best way to practice, it's one of the most fun.
It takes a while before I start to burn out on ideas for improv, but before I do I can usually come up with the next thing I want to work on
well i started like that, and for a year or two I literally had no idea what i was doing, so to say i worked only by tone intervals (for arpeggios and melodies) and simply good sounding chords, but i had no idea on how to play GMaj7th(for example).
It's true that it's not the best method but if you keep doing this you will get a very different aproach to music, it's more personal and unique than forpeople who learned in conservatory or similar (because over there it just consists on imitating other pieces and authors, while if you do the oposite, you only play what you really like)
Sorry for bad english :)
>>70553708
Well what are your goals with piano? That's something you should consider before coming up with a practice plan
Find a flaw.

Now that the dust has settled is this the Phantom Menace of music?
>>70552535
It's more like a return of the Jedi. Good, but not as good as the things that came before it.
>>70552535
No because The Phantom Menace was preceded by three classics.

Greatest Album this decade
Not even kidding
post your top 5 of any techno, house, tech-house, acid, dark techno etc.
No EDM pls

>techno, house, tech-house, acid, dark techno etc.
>not EDM
fucking faggot
It's all the same bullshit
>>70552428
k, then don't post if you can't see the difference.
It's just that i can see how mu/ discredits electronic music by saying it's all the same, EDM is the same as techno or house etc. , well sorry to tell you that here are people who can see a difference between theese two, if you don't, then just don't post here, go to the threads for the genres you like

redpill me on tonal music
is it really dead?
>>70552374
Nah, enough time has passed, so we can now see the avant-garde movements that spawned from dodecaphony as a phenomenon in itself.
Do you think that any composer in the last 100 years has surpassed Bach? If you don't think so tonality is not dead, especially when you account for the fact that our best musician in the classical, tonal repertoire composed in a very specific style. It is easy to regard Bach's music as universal, but that's just an excellent personal take on tonality.
There are still many things that can be done, but at this point I'm sure that we should abandon the idea that gimmicks and technologies can somehow elevate music.
That said Schoenberg was a great composer. He was on a compleely different level when you compare him to most post-40s music. He truly was a maestro.
>>70552569
>le Bach is GOAT meme
jesus christ I swear
>>70552995
I see no argument here.

Thinking of going through picrelated, I have ofcourse listened to some stuff on this chart, like Madvillainy, kanye, the glow and other stuff too, but what should I start with?
Start with throwing it in the trash. The /mu/ essentials are largely garbage.
>>70552346
Do it up. Start from the top and don't stop until you've reached the last one. I'm doing it too.
Also that pic's outdated. Here's the most recent one

fag loser
Anyone listened to the new Austra album? Thoughts?
underwhelming unfortunately
nothing will ever top this
I liked it but the first song is awful as I recall.
What is the best Nirvana song and why is it All Alpologies?
>dat noisy outro with the vocal harmonies
for cobain's pop side of music, yeah, all apologies is really good
for his experimental direction i'd have to go with milk it.
had he not died, the follow up album probably would have been more acoustic-y, with REM's michael stipe backing him up. i think 'do re mi' would've been an example of such a song.

do yourself a favor and delete the whole album, fucker
Reminder that this is the most innovative dance album of the past 10 years. Call it progressive EDM.
