In theory, yes Electronic Dance Music is an umbrella term.

However, "EDM" is a marketing term that mostly describes brostep, "trap," and big-room progressive house that is most commonly associated with venues like Tomorrowland or the Electric Daisy Carnival.

This leaves out a good 30 - 40 years of dance music history in the realm of house, techno, breakbeat, jungle, garage, grime, dubstep (English Croydon dubstep, not American brostep), or juke/footwork.

you could say some acid techno is EDM, because it' also electronic, and dance, and music... but i think EDM is just this pop/electronic, like music they play in frats, Tomorrowland, Ultra etc. While techno is more mechanic, hardly any melody and very repetitive music.
For what i can say, i love techno, but hate EDM (in my definition of EDM of course)

Yeah it's pretty good. Had a phase where I almost exclusively listened to 80s House. There's a compilation called "Acid Rain" (https://www.discogs.com/de/Terry-Farley-Acid-Rain-Definitive-Original-Acid-And-Deep-House-1985-1991/release/4693509), some of the stuff I mentioned is on there, among a few other gems, but also quite a few meh-ish/really boring tracks.
