So while it's still very early in the season there are already Winter Ball threads up and boards angling for their dates this year. While there's no rush for /mlp/ to decide anything yet it may be useful to talk about how we're feeling this time around or just reminisce about Winter Balls past.

There are still dangers present for Equestria, both known and unforeseen, so even if elements of harmony or the like are needed for the largest scale threats, it's still prudent to keep a vigil defense where possible. That keeps the royal guard ranks well-staffed with brave ponies. Shield talents on the scale of Shining Armor's aren't likely that common, but any kind of defensive aid is to be welcomed and encouraged. How have they fared in more subdued encounters to date, anyhow?

Autumn's got a fair bit of change for a season. Perhaps it's not quite as much activity as spring and requires less preparation than winter, but it's still a good bit of work for a pegasus team watching the weather. Rainy days can be fairly plentiful- that's great for the ponies who like such days. All the rest can stay indoors if they like but in a way it heralds the snow- maybe some umbrellas are in order.
