He realized he was a puffed up Zane Grey
Removing a man from society removes him from social sanctions. Accusing him as an innocent man probably wasnt a good idea either.
"Were there darker provinces of night he would have found them."

Just finished this book. Did anyone else read it? What did you think?I thought it would have been better if he shot up the classroom at the end.
What books have plots that end on April 30th?

At least Milk and Honey is coherent and has meaning. The books you guys like are just gibberish.
A thread died for this.
The saddest and most ruthless thing I've ever read. What about you? And what do you think about The Metamorphosis?

Kafka really knew how to draw the reader in. Take, for example, 'Die Verwandlung' - the reader is instantly left to wonder 'who is this guy Verwandlung? And why does somebody want him dead?

First post here, I can only read non-fiction. Does anyone know of good war memoirs? Particularly Russian? It's so rare to find English versions.
Is there a good version of the Iliad (and any other similar works) that has commentary along with it? I mean something alongside the text, not a huge seperate section or sparse footnotes.

Reading through Sartor Resartus at this moment, greatly enjoy the style; anyone read Thomas Carlyle? im picking up his Essays aswell soon...
>>10005786
Read Heroes next. And then tackle (the wonderfully hilarious) French Revolution. Perfect time of year to read that dude as well.
>>10006269
Said this because the Essays are hit or miss. Some of the later stuff may even turn (you) off. The two volumes mentioned, however, will not.
>>10006269
I have ordered French Rev. also; i hope so im a fan of my historical lit so could be good for me. As well as that i have book that contains Sartor Resartus with Heros which is how i found Carlyle i really have two copies now. This book also came with Chartism and Past and Present if you got anythoughts on them.
