So let me get this straight. The proposed endpoint of all minoritarian socio-political uprisings—whether focused on race, ethnicity, or queerness in various forms—is the elimination of discrimination and abjection. The primary mode of elimination is the protection of minoritarian cultures as "pure." More than not, this is accomplished in contemporary social movements through propping up "authentic" representatives of these cultures as loudspeakers for preserving cultural purity and singularity.

However, aren't these attempts to preserve cultures and promote purity of origin ultimately destructive fantasies? Don't these fantasies of protecting cultural purity, especially those of minoritarian "uniqueness," ultimately produce the abjectness, outsiders, and minoritarian discrimination that they claim to fight against?

In other words, what long-term goals can increased minoritarian claims of pure cultural identity accomplish other than creating even more discrimination and "Others"?

Do you think it's ethical for companies to sell junk food to their customers, knowing full well that it's the primary cause of preventable death? I've heard people say that eating fast food is a choice, but so is eating at all.

its ecological impact is the unethical part and due to the general issue of negative externalities in capitalist economies
what people eat is up to them
>>
>>10013911
Eating at all is less of a choice because the hungrier you get the less self-conscious and more driven by instinct you are.
Do I think it's unethical to sell junk food? Yes.
Do I think it's unethical for companies? No, I think it is for people involved in selling junk food.
Do I think so because it's the primary cause of preventable death? No, I think so because it is the primary cause of preventable unworthy disease-ridden wasted life which brings with it a many other complications.

I think what's unethical is government interventionism in the form of subsidy for products detrimental to people's health rather than, if there has to be a subsidy at all, for produce and health food in general. I shouldn't be able to buy two burgers for the price of three leaves of kale (this is what regularly constitutes a "bunch").

Has anybody read this? What is your take on Jameson generally?

Haven't read it but know that Jameson is one of the most important philosophers of the 20th century. If you value the history of philosophy and wish to understand its evolution into and beyond postmodernism and Marxism, he's essential.

I want to learn about Being and Nothingness.
But I'm a fucking retard with a short attention span and no philosopical education. What's the best way to do this? Read it or a commentary or a interpretation about it? Both? All? Who to trust then? Is there a consensus on what the meaning of it is?

Don't get me wrong I without a doubt plan to read it but I don't trust myself to get (all) the right interpretation of it so I assume some sort of aid would be more usefull than just me going at it blindly.

You can unite with One (God) only in some mystical way according to Plotinus.

Sure. Post-ironic = not postmodern. Take your pick.
