What is your most favourite Harry Potter book out of all the series.

Personally, mine would be the Goblet of Fire.

Wow surprising to see a harry potter thread right when I'm working on one of my harry potter fanfics.
I liked the order of the phoenix best but that is probably due to the age at which I read it. It made me feel safe and cosy since I was being bullied going through a tough time.

What are the best books about the p/u/rest form of love?

what does that mean
>>

Well you see, anon. /u/ is the board for yuri: the Japanese word for a form of hentai involving two or more females in a homosexual relationship. So when OP types "p/u/rest", he refers to books about lesbians.

Did Kafka really think his work was funny?

Is it funny?
35 posts and 4 images submitted.

Yes but it was noted that this was entirely a private interpretation. His housemaid is recorded saying something to the effect that he would be upstairs in his study laughing maniacally as he composed his works. I'm pretty sure most people find his works bleak and horrifying and to the extent they might evoke some humor, uncanny.
>>
>Scholem claimed that when he read the Czech author alongside the Pentateuch and the Talmud during a period of intensive study and feelings of 'the most rationalistic skepticism' about his area of study, "I [found in Kafka] the most perfect and unsurpassed expression of this fine line [between religion and nihilism] an expression which, as a secular statement of the Kabbalistic world-feeling in a modern spirit, seemed to me to wrap Kafka's writings in the halo of the canonical."[

Memoirs of Hadrian, bub.

>Faces at lunch, oh, yes, smirking, lordly, bored or weary – here and there a flash of passion, of dreams or loving seriousness; these signs I saw, notwithstanding the sweep of a fork like a Stuka dive-bomber, stabbing down into the cringing salads, carrying them up to the death of unseen teeth between dancing wrinkled cheeks; a breadstick rose in hand, approached the purple lips in a man’s dull gray face; an oval darkness opened and shut and the breadstick was half gone! A lady in a red blazer, her face alert, patient and professionally kind like a psychoanalyst’s, stuck her fork lovingly into a tomato, smiling across the table at another woman’s face; everything she did was gentle, and it was but habit for her to hurt the tomato as little as possible; nonetheless she did not see it. Nodding and shaking her head, she ate and ate, gazing sweetly into the other woman’s face. Finally, I saw one woman in sunglasses who studied her arugula as she bit it. It disappeared by jagged inches, while across the table, in her husband’s lap, the baby watched in dark-eyed astonishment. Her husband crammed an immense collage of sandwich components into his hairy cheeks. He snatched up pommes-frites and they vanished in toto. When the dessert cart came, the starched white shoulders of businessmen continued to flex and shine; their faces glazed at one another over emptiness, much happier now that they had eaten, unthinking of what they had wrought.

Anybody know a good collection of short stories?
I've tried Kafka but damn the guy didn't know how to write an ending. I've wanted to try "Labyrinths" but the reviewers always sound like such pretentious pseuds that it turns me off. I've also tried Lovecraft, just Dagon 2bh, but I got bored beyond that dope as shit first paragraph.

I can't take it anymore. I just just can't deal with people. Everyday I tell myself that I will be normal and cool today, talk to everyone confidently, smile confidently in public and not behave like a robot, but as soon as I leave the room every muscle in my face freezes. Can't even smile properly. Everyone at work think I'm chronically depressed. They actually try to be more helpful to me, they invite me to every party and event they go to, to make me feel comfortable but I just spend entire day looking at my phone or in washroom. I'd probably lose my job at this rate. I'm not exactly asking for "self help" books, just any books that deal with this condition and explain me where it all went wrong. (Sorry for the stupid long rant)

Do plays count?
If so hamlet.
The depth of penetration that hamlet penetrates into the receptacle of our psyche is vast and deep.
As Nietzsche proclaimed, 'And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you' therefore it is hamlet that gazes back.
Furthermore Shakespeare's shocking display of the full consequences of the Oedipus complex is terrifying, both man and women driven into madness, and then death.
Alas the most disturbing part of hamlet is that we all see a little of him in ourselves, as the Nietzsche quote showed. Woe be to man and our endless toils.

Why there are so few authors holding negative opinions on sexuality in general? It isn't hard to see how stupid the act of sex really is, but most of the great authors were libertines or at least saw sex as a positive thing.

Why is it stupid?

Seems to me that for whatever reasons the sexual component of our lives is beyond reproach and has good thinkers spinning fairytales to place it in good stead. They probably understand that it must be this way.

Do you guys remember when you were a kid and you had all fucking day to read or do whatever the fuck you wanted? I miss that.

Nowadays I have to schedule my time to get a few chapters in. I also can't afford to read "fun" books, so I spend my time on classics and philosophy. This was actually before I heard about /lit/ and realized I was living meme.

It's just so exhausting. I wish I had more time.

Jews are merely non-local evolving of rejuvenation. It is in awakening that the degenerate age is reborn. The world is approaching a tipping point.

Reality has always been beaming with storytellers whose third eyes are opened by aspiration. Our conversations with other cultures have led to an evolving of pseudo-sensual consciousness. We are in the midst of a conscious summoning of hellfire that will align us with the quantum cycle itself.

I remember school taking up 60% of my waking hours. Even if I wasn't a NEET I still wouldn't give that much of my time away voluntarily.
