alright /k/ im sure you'll all bust my balls but im buying my first sidearm and need advice and dont really have anywhere else to get it. first of all i live in Pennsylvania so the laws are kinda loose. im looking for a simple handgun.
i like revolvers because they are strong, simple, and dont jam so they seem like a good first gun.
but im worried about my lack of skills.
is there a handgun you would recommend for a beginner?
>>28435321
I know this sounds like a canned answer, but most handguns these days are pretty good (sig, beretta, glock, hk, etc). It's all about personal preference, how it feels in your hand etc. Go to a range and rent a couple of guns and see which you like best. I'm not a huge revolver guy, but you're right that they're durable and don't jam much, but I would still recommend a semi-auto.
>>28435321
>revolvers
>dont jam
Yes, they do.
For semi-autos look for a 9mm in the $550 range. That covers GLOCKs, CZ, the XD series, the M&P series, etc. Everything in that price range is pretty good and what you get will boil down to personal preference.
For revolvers look at Ruger's SP101 and GP100, or S&W's 686 and k-frames or l-frames or whatever they're smaller stuff is.

I said don't jam MUCH, champ. In terms of jamming, revolvers jam less frequency. I would definitely go 9mm though. I prefer the Beretta 92fs

>Look up VEPR 7.62x39mm rifle to get
>see pic related and admire the beautiful firearm
>It must be complient with the 922r law
>can only have ten or less foreign parts on the imported rifle and any more parts that is foreign will break the 922r law
>the rifle has 14 foreign parts already when it comes over here
>has to be ten or below to be legal in the united states or you will have some trouble with the law
>realize that means I will be forced to literally replace the parts in the rifle when it comes over here with off the shelf us brand made parts just to make it legal or at least get the foreign parts down to at least 9 so I can have one different foreign part in it
>I really want the russian rifle and I want to add the russian scope to it but I can't because of the 922r
Goddamnit I'm literally fucking stressed out from the fact that the VEPR rifles have more than ten factory parts in the rifle and I hate it more that I have to replace the parts with none foreign parts just to make it a legal gun here in this country.
Fucking goddamnit I just want the gun and the russian optic but I can't because the gun literally has more parts in it that needs them to make it work properly but the law makes it immediately not a legal gun since it is over the ten foreign part limit.
Fuck I'm fixing to have a heart attack from my stress level over this how the fuck am I supposed to get this gun and enjoy shooting it without being force to cram US parts in the gun and take out the russian parts that came with it because of a goddamn 922r!
>>28435076
First off, nobody in the history of the world has ever been charged solely on a 922r violation, it's mostly something to string onto other charges
Second, can they prove that the parts are foreign made?
>>28435076
I don't think you understand how 922 works. If you modify it from its original form, THEN you have to have a certain number of parts be US made. But if you don't modify it at all, it's fine. And the pic you posted if from Atlantic, so obviously its already legal.
Add scope
Don't tell anyone

PROFIT!
Why did The Republic choose an X-wing pilot to perform a HUMINT operation /k/?
>>28434112
For the same reason that the Colonial Military uses Viper pilots as ground troops
>>28434112
Out of any of the retarded shit in any of the star wars movies, this probably the one that's easiest to explain.
>>28434112
Because mon mothma decided to be a no-guns hippie and disarm almost the entire republic during an ongoing Galatia civil war the second she thought the republic had the upper hand
Does anyone here on /k/ have any opinions on a good footlocker? I recently moved in with my girlfriend and her shit dominates everything in the apartment with clothes, cosmetics, etc etc. I don't even have room to put my own shit in the closet, she literally has 37 pairs of shoes.
Anyway I need my own personal space just so i can separate my shit from hers and it doesn't get destroyed with cat puke and make up and I was thinking a nice footlocker would fit the bill. I just need something to store an AK sidefolder, my handgun, 100 cartridge .50 cal ammo can and some literature / personal documents.
What do you guys think would fit this bill? In terms of size and whatever opinions you all might have for quality. Thanks /k/
Also would plastic be better than say wood or some other material?
>>28433255
That one in the pic looks pretty awesome. where can I get one?

found it here

How can we get more people to own guns/be progun?
>>28432279
Taking them to the range would be your best bet.
Comprehensive firearms handling courses in grade school
Today I went to take a UA test for my new employer. When I got there the new nurse lady told me to remove all items in pockets and jacket and place them in this cubby that locks. I realized I had my ccw and extra mags in my pocket (g19) and I asked her if I may place my belongings in my car so I ran out to my car to drop off my gat. As I returned there was another nurse telling me that wasn't allowed, and that my first nurse is new and she's in training and didn't know that I wasn't supposed to leave because that looked suspicious.
I told her it's because of my firearms and she said "yea just as I suspected, you should've left it on, you're totally allowed to carry your gun, it's your constitutional right, next time please just leave it on and inform us, I'll let this one slide but please keep your gun on you next time".
TLDR; My nurse grilled me for not carrying in her clinic.
With all our soldiers getting body armor, how is it that any of them are dying? Legit question, especially with the coverage they're giving these days. Are they all getting shot in the face or are they bleeding out from minor wounds?

I'm thinking about getting a PTR-91, Y/N and why?
Don't let /k/ tell you what to buy, you'll end up with 6 Mosins and dragon dildos.
>>28431271
>only 6
Why are you getting that hipster rifle over a normal M82?
Hey guys, I'm pretty new to ARs, but I've decided to do a build starting with an 80% lower. If I purchased one, could I just take it to my local gunsmith and have him finish the milling and drilling? I heard they passed some legislation on this recently, but I'm pretty fuzzy on the details. Also how much would this cost?
Pic semi-related
I read something like this, however, it looked like to me you could do it, but they would have to do the normal forums and shit as if it was a firearms purchase, but i may be wrong.
>>28431007
>If I purchased one, could I just take it to my local gunsmith and have him finish the milling and drilling?
no
any gunsmith you ask will say fuck no unless they are the shady sort
>>28431221
How do people (excluding machinists) usually finish an 80% lower then?
/k/ Make an improvised weapon using only what is in your room right now

I have a SCAR 17s and a Tikka T3 in the room I am in now. At least half a dozen knives. Why improvise?
I currently have a G19 and P226 Mk25 I switch between for everyday carry. I find myself carrying the G19 90% of the time. I was thinking of selling the P226 and getting pic related USP Compact in 9mm.
Solid plan or shit plan?

Don't sell anything.

226 > USP

This. I regret every sale I've made except for a few guns I sold to a buddy to help him start a collection.
Whatcha reading /k/ ?
Recommend any good /k/ sanctioned books?
Favourite authors? Auto/ biographies?
I recently finally got around to reading Band of Brothers by Stephen Ambose. Excellent book, as compelling as the miniseries.
Does /k/ even read anything besides /k/ ?
I'm reading Thomas Piketty's "Capital in the 21st Century"
I'm a very boring person.
US Grant's Memoirs
I'm reading The Day of Battle by Rick Atkinson. The Liberation Trilogy is an excellent read.
Other good /k/ books I've read recently:
The Gun - C.J. Chivers
Deadly Force - Masad Ayoob
I read non-/k/, but have been on a real /k/ literature kick lately.
Are ISIS jihadists basically the fedora tipping, shoulder holstering virgin /k/omrades of the mudslime world?

I almost feel a little bad for him.
from his perspective he is pretty normal
Many ISIS recruits are confused, disaffected young men without jobs or a future. So I'd say, yes.
Pretend you have reasonable levels of competency, support, and motivation.
I'll start: using swarm suicide boats blow up multiple oil rigs in gulf of Mexico. Deepwater Horizon x10, regional economies are rekt for decades.

Anything you want I guess. Different targets and methods would have different terror effects. Where is the US most vulnerable?
Well, /k/, America's xenophobia has finally gone too far. I married an Australian, and after a long drawn out legal battle, it seems there's a good chance we'll have to go back to Australia. I love this country, but I love my wife more. Immigration has gotten all but impossible unless you just do it illegally it seems.
Australia has a lot going for it, at least. But the police are appallingly incompetent, the assault rates are higher, and of course- it's a no-guns country. Coming from the Arkansas region, this is unacceptable. Fortunately, there are loopholes. Hopefully you can help me find all of them.
I'm not tied to any specific profession or location. I can become the bunny-reaper if that lets me open carry. I can also live in any location if that makes a difference, though Queensland would be preferred.
What does /k/ recommend?
