I just filed a ticket with Savage about one of their Scout rifles and one of the "related questions" that popped up was in regards to whether or not they can make a rifle in a caliber they don't normally do.

I live in the US and within half an hour to a primary nuclear target.

Detachable magazines aren't necessary for anything except actual combat. You don't want a bolt action rifle for combat, you want a semi-automatic.

Most states do not allow loaded long guns in vehicles. If you are hunting you can keep a magazine loaded and be able to load up quicker if you spot a deer while you're still in the truck.
