Why the hell are A2 carry handle sights so expensive now?
What was $25 is now $110.
Fuck the problem is?
>>29710634
They aren't standard-issue anymore, so they aren't mass produced as much
*A3
And because no-one really uses them anymore.
http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/23/asia/japan-first-stealth-fighter-jet-airplane/
So, the Japanese have joined the likes of the US, China and Russia in having developed their very own home engineered stealth fighter!
Is Japan preparing to engage china in the south sea, or perhaps considering amending their constitution to grow their own expansionist military?
Time will tell, but for now, how about we discuss the technical details and practical applications of the new Japanese aircraft?
>>29710353
Nobody?
>>29710353
its a technology demonstrator with no weapons bays and a highly placeholder engine.
technical details are pretty meaningless.
Already a thread about this.
Though, does this mean Japan is officially rearming?
If I have two garands, is it acceptable to do this to one of them?
Go for it, who gives a shit.
>>29710247
No.
Would you care for me to visit the corvette meuseum with a spray paint can?
If you want tacticool stuff, get an AR or something else modern.

Hey /k/, made a thread last night about putting together a Semi-auto .308 deer/pig-slayer.
Settled on the M14 platform, specifically a Norinco M305 Carbine with an 18.5" barrel. Optics wise, I already have a low-power Bushnell Elite 3200 scope but I want to get a low-light/night-vision scope since most of my stalking/hunting is before dawn and after dusk.
All up;
- Norinco M305 18.5" Carbine .308 $699 NZD ($480 USD)
- Armasight Vampire 3X Night-Vision $1,299 NZD ($890 USD)
- Hushpower Silencer (M14/M1A .30CAL) $499 NZD ($342 USD)
Original budget was $3,500 USD for a genuine Springfield M1A Match with a ProMag Archangel stock, Leupold VR-X 2 low-power scope, AAC Cyclone suppressor etc. You guys chewed me out for spending so much for a deer/pig-slayer that's going to spend most of it's life on the front rack of a dirt-bike getting thrashed around.
Anyway, is this much more appropriate now?
Pic related, minus the scope.
>>29710197
Are those Norinco even any good?
I heard they break a lot.
You are now sanctioned.
>>29710212
They are good. No worries about them.
So now that we know the F-35 was a meme all along, how would /k/ build its aircraft? Who would be the producer, what would be the parameters, and how would you sell its production to the tax payers?
EZ mode not allowed: you cannot buy existing aircraft.
Personally I'd upgrade the A-10 to be stealth, have the twin turbines replaced with high performance modern jets, mount a second GAU-8 and nose fins that can lethally drop 250lb bombs.
Your turn, extra points for providing pictures.
>>29709833
I would build the F-35 again
but I'll tell everyone Grumman built it
Also, what about flamethrower pods for CAS?
>Start with a Phantom
>twin tilted tails for stealth
>modern materials and engines for equivalent performance at much less fuel used
>thrust vectoring for better maneuverability
>second seat becomes a mini AWACS, or an electronic warfare officer like in the Growler
>new LRAAM that can splash a PAK-FA or MiG-29 from BVR
>certify them for cruise missiles and the LRAShM
>weapons bays under the fuselage that can hold 50% of total payload in weight, hardpoints
What's the general consensus on A-TACS gear. How well does it hold up, is it actuall u decent or is it just shitty airsoft level.
I've seen one guy say if you have both FG and AU it works well year round.

Also fuck you Canada why cant I have all the cool toys you get?

Hey /k/,
If someone made a new manufacture version of the Swiss K31 in .308/7.62 NATO, gave it a detachable box magazine, synthetic stock and a 1913 rail, <1 MOA out of the box, and sold it for ~$1300, would you want one?
Just fucking buy the M1A you fag.
>>29709572
No.
If i want a good 308 rifle without history i take a Remington.
If i want a good 308 rifle with history i take a rechambered K31.
1300$ is expensive as fuck
>>29709572
1300?
Maybe if you add really good target sights, throw some detachable mags in, new production stripper clips and beautiful wood and blueing...
Maybe.
hey /k
maybe there are troll threads but i mean it for real.

i want to build a gun (.22lr) smg
what would i need all? i dont live in usa so its not illegal for you to help me, that for the boardrules.
i was thinking to start first with the receiver and as a barrel i use the same steel they use for hydraulics. what do you think.?
>>29709547
to make an accurate gun, a trick they use in the industry is to let the bullet make the hole at the muzzle end.
Basically you drill out most of the barrel, but leave the very end of it in tact. Then you install it on the gun, and fire off a round. Bullet hits the end, and makes a perfect bullet sized hole.

Do this OP, it's a lot easier than machining the entire way through.
Since there is a current lack of "are carriers obsolete" posts today I thought I'd try and open discussion on the worlds third largest carrier class, The Queen Elizabeth.
While we all know it's garbage as a Super Carrier without nuclear power and the lack of CATOBAR has meant she wont have any aircraft until the F-35B is ready.
Instead of calling her a Super Carrier she should have been classified as a Super Amphibious Assault ship, this is especially relevant given the British Ministry of Defences recent news that one of the carriers will be "upgraded" to better carry out the role of amphibious assaults!
Instead of a "money saving" super carrier which is barely more than an embarrassment to the Royal Navy as they are forced to pretend it's matching the US carriers she would become -the- top tier of her role, a huge notable step up from the America class and fit into a more fitting place in history, for herself and the Royal Navy.
http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/defence/britain-to-upgrade-one-of-the-royal-navy-s-new-aircraft-carriers-to-back-amphibious-assaults-1-7278901
Why didn't those mother fuckers just get Maersk to produce them 20-30 supercarriers built to commercial standards.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn5v7tEBYn4
Like this except without the bridge in the middle, giving you a 1400 ft flight deck, more than sufficient to operate STOL aircraft off it.
If emals catapults are ever reduced in cost, then they could be included as well.
I believe they estimated 400 million for one of these ships.
>>29709802
is this a meme allready?
>>29709842
The OP was a meme.
Hey, /k/.
I just got this beautiful Damascus steel knife, but I'm pretty new to the upkeep and I sharpened it too much. I found out you're supposed to sharpen it with two strokes and I sharpened it 10 times on every part of my Lansky sharpening device.
Will I have damaged or taken much of the blades lifeline?
It's going to take a lot more than that to damage a knife. What you've done is make it sharp. Congratulations. Now it can cut things again.
>>29709515
Oh god! You have sharpened it too much! It might have even been in danger of getting sharp enough to use as more than pocket jewelry! God forbid!
KILL YOUR SELF YOU MASSIVE FAGGOT
>>29709576
I got it for a camping and hiking expedition I'm going on soon. I know it's a little flashy but it was the best quality knife I found that conforms with the UK's specifications for legal carry. Killing myself now, with my broken butter knife.
Are Charter Arms revolvers any good? Would you carry one of these?
>>29709441
I found a fucked up one in a ditch by my house once
my old boss carries one and swears by it. He loads it with .44 Special wadcutters because he thinks it'll cut nice little circles in people. And this guy owns dozens of nice Smiths and Colts. I don't think he's ever used it besides the time he pulled it on a nigger in Buffalo and made him shit his pants.

So I know about the experimental night vision from late WWII and the stuff from the Cold War you can sometimes buy and that's mostly from the 80s but not much about the stuff inbetween. How much was it used during Korea or Vietnam?
