I have to give a presentation to a bunch of prospective master gunners on Tuesday about ammunition handling.
As an ammo tech and demo, the subject is something I can give in my sleep.
I need pictures of people doing bad things with ammo, especially 155 and up.
Thanks, can I have some more?

Did medieval warriors ever use axes over swords when they had a choice? What advantages besides price do axes have?
>>29706662
Yes.
>Advantages
An axe is incredibly simple to use, and when it hits mail or light armor, either will splinter apart rings or cut through leather or padded cloth.
>Disadvantages
Slashing, stabbing, general utility in combat. An axe is extremely good at chopping and useless for anything else.
>>29706662
The axe was the Mosin for hundreds of years before the mosin.

superior performance against chainmail
I posted that I wanted to get a 1911 as a first gun earlier and you guys pretty much shat on me.
>get a .22 (meme-tier)
>learn to shoot
>learn to take care of gun
Why bother? I could save money and just learn on the gun I want. What is so damn difficult about a 19elebben? And I'm definitely going to cc whatever the hell I end up getting. No point in waiting if you've got to learn sometime.
>>29706575
1911 really isn't hard to shoot. I would take some classes to avoid bad habits.
Some people on here are huge fags.
Get a 1911 if you want. Its a good first gun.
Thing is, it's easier to learn form with a .22 or 9mm. If you want to not hit anything with your expensive 1911 go ahead.
Looking for an iwb holster for my 5 inch 1911 and saw that pic related seemed like a good choice. Anyone have experience with Galco kydex iwb holsters? I'm looking to conceal carry. Obviously I have a large gun that will be more difficult to conceal and I am aware of that. Concealment wasn't my primary intent when I bought the gun I simply want to have the option.
Also general holster & carry thread.
Bump for Washington
What type of holster do you prefer? There's a pretty clear difference in comfort between IWB and OWB holsters, though if you're set on IWB I'd say go ahead and spend the money on a quality holster from either Comp-tac or stealth gear.
I carry in an alien gear cloak tuck and its pretty comfortable. The gun is slim enough that I wear all the same clothes and usually forget its there. I had to adjust the ride on the holster to as high as it could go; if it rides low then I feel it a lot when I sit and its quite uncomfortable. The only thing is that when I stand up I kind of have to pull my shirt down to make sure it doesn't catch on the grip, other than that its fine.
I carry at about 4:30
Somebody can recognise this gun?
>>29706499
thats a model 10 or 13 or 15 of some sort
Somebody with ant eyes

No way, do you see the size of the round? No way that's a 38 special
Getting out of the military in 16 months and want to do something somewhat operator.
So far I have ATF, CPB and Capitol police in mind. Does anyone know anything or have experience about any of these?
Heck, I guess we could make this an operator job thread as well.
>>29706298
>
Capitol Police are security guards. You'll be checking bags and moving traffic cones all day. Dont do it.
>>29706298
Join any state or local PD and join the SWAT. Its operator *enough*.
>>29706298
>ATF
how about no.
where the fuck do u think u are
joining the enemy????!
Figure this thread will probably die fast, considering it seemed a good idea to my drunk lanky ass, but what precautions does /k/ take when drunk?
Me, I take the magazine out of my handgun and leave it empty overnight putting the magazine out of sight, make sure my door is locked and avoid my handgun so I don't do something stupid.
Here's a picture of said handgun. Don't see enough live towards the p320 in my opinion.
>>29706037
>but what precautions does /k/ take when drunk?
Know your limit and don't get fucking drunk?
>>29706064
this
ezcept i pass my limit and sometimes play with loaded guns hoping ill accidently kill myself
>>29706073
>and sometimes play with loaded guns hoping ill accidently kill myself
I don't need alcohol for this one lol
So apparently this guy was the guy that inspired Schindler's List. In the film he didn't seem all that operator, but holy shit was the real Oskar Schindler (Oskar Dirlewanger) operator as fuck. He lead one of the most feared elite Waffen SS units of the entire war.

Reply/10, apply yourself
>(you)
>>29706184
I don't get it. I discovered Oskar Schindler in real life was a straight up operator and wanted to share something that is not common knowledge with /k/.
>>29706252
>(you)
Is he legit?
>>29705962
yup
Yep
would go gay for/10
Post some non /k/ movies, with /k/ sequences
Pic related
Bombing at the beginning of the chronicles of Narnia is pretty badass
>>29705918
Not sure if Proof of Life is non /k/, but the ending is operator as fuck.
First time I've ever seen anyone mentioning bringing rations to an op, plus dat Minimi doe
>>29706007
Absolutely patrician taste.
If I can find a good torrent of it, I'll upload the final 20 minutes or so of it on youtube by the end of the day
Is the price worth it for one of these /k/?
>>29705690
lurking
>>29705690
Yes definitely.
these are the only Vz58's worth getting at all. Czechpoint VZ's ONLY
Superior to the AK imo but only if the Bolt carrier is tabbed.
DNB the Vz2008 they are unlined and the untabbed group will fuck up inevitably. Probably when you dont want it or need it to.
Czechpoint has patent on tabbing which is only way to get full functional Vz58 semi
>>29705814
CSAs already have tabbed carriers. My 5.56x45mm came with it from the factory.
If I only get one nugget, should it be one of these:

>>29705409
Yes
It should actually be a 28-76, but an M39 would be much, much easier to find.
>>29705409
My first Mosin will either be an M39, or an 1891 model LONG rifle.
Are FALs really shit? I'm getting mixed opinions from the /k/ archive.
I really want one. Like the second I saw one.
And how difficult is it to find a good kit?
No memes please.
>>29705352
AR fags will literally decry anything that isn't an AR and they're about to flood this telling you to get an AR-10
AR-10s are doodoo and FALs and G3 pattern rifles are better
>>29705352
Provided its not made from shit, its good.
Good kits are expensive these days

ONE WEEK TO SCOUTING MEET
Date:
April 30th
Location:
Near Quincy, in Plumas County, see Slack for details.
Time:
Between 10 and 11:30, lunch will be had at a location in town and then the scouting meet will occur until mid to late afternoon.
What to Bring:
Bring guns, but pack light, urbex safety equipment optional for those who wish to explore the more dilapidated buildings. (Most are in good enough shape not to warrant that though.) Also bring cameras and paper as our main purpose here will be to find suitable locations for a full-weekend event in June.
How to get involved:
Reply to this post with a burner email address and I will add you to the California Meetup slack group, where anons just like you chat and plan carpool.
For those not in the know, a major meetup at this site is in the works, planned for the last weekend in June, and this will be the scouting trip to find locations for campsites, shooting ranges, latrine locations, and more.
Several buildings from an old mining town sit at this site and I plan to use some of them for the main meet as a campsite, as it they are used for this purpose often and have fire-pits and parking areas nearby.
>>29705205
Do we have any idea how many people are going to the scout meet?
>>29705350
At least 3 locals up in Norcal are confirmed attending, but we haven't shilled this scouting meet really until now. I'm planning to drive up as well.
There's a p-25 raven in a store near me. It's in pretty nice condition and I've always wanted a mouse gun.
It's being sold for $100, which I believe is about the middle of what they usually go for.
Anyone here have one?
>>29705143
My mom does. I've never shot it. It's going to be exactly what you think it is.
>>29705505
>It's going to be exactly what you think it is.
A bunch of fun and maybe for use as defensive carry in some situations?
>>29705544
OK, it's not going to be anything like you think it is.
Seriously though, probably fun to shoot, but the ammo is pricey. As for SD...maybe as a last resort.
