The Institute built up a cadre of cultural Marxists, including Max Horkheimer, Erick Fromm and Herbert Marcuse. When the Nazis came to power in 1933 the Frankfurt School migrated to the United States. There its members set about poisoning American culture, based in Columbia University. By the post-War era the Cultural Marxist programme had a wide-reaching agenda of destruction. It aimed to destroy the family, denying the specific roles of the father and mother, and advocated the teaching of sex and homosexuality to children; mobilisation of women as revolutionaries against men, through aggressive feminism; large-scale immigration to abolish national identity; dependency on the state and state benefits; control and infantilisation of the media.

The great canon of Western literature was demolished by pygmies in the name of “deconstruction”, exploiting the intellectual snobbery of insecure academics. Universities today are the worst enemies of independent thinking and free speech: in the words of Robert Lind, all American campuses have become “small, ivy-covered North Koreas”.

This I believe would be the loosest definition of the Western world:

The Western world should have a significant Christian heritage. Now it should be either Christian or at least culturally Christian.

The Western world should have partial or significant European heritage.

The Western world should see it self in alignment with liberal democracy.

If the country has position its political rhetorical against "Western imperialism" such as Venezuela or snubs the West (like Ecuador with the Snowden scandal), then it its Western.

It's not about believing in scripture it's about a public system being impartial and educating everyone equally even if they happen to be of a different faith. To do this it has to be secular and not affiliated with any one belief system in particular otherwise we would inevitably be leaving someone out and depriving them of their right to the public education they're enrolled in.

Science is just the middle least offensive least alienating road because the alternative forcefully has to alienate someone and what's more possibly indoctrinate them into believing they're bad and going to some religions hell.
