Is there a distinct lack of non official documents in East Asia or have we just not translated them into english yet?

When looking back at Roman stuff you find letters, personal concordances and other stuff of that sort. When I read about Chinese history there's a distinct lack of that despite several of these histories saying that the Chinese were printing tens of thousands of books per year at around the Tang dynasty.

Probably most destroyed by the occasional dynastic purge or communism.

More people died in East Asia during the time between 0 AD and 1600. That might have something to do with it. Plus there's no one language in China.

Most printed matter in China was reserved for official records, histories, and novels & literary works.

Normie plebs don't go printing their shit due to how fucking expensive printing is in East Asia.

That said: yes there are. Most are untranslated, because E. Asian cunts don't really think foreigners would be interested in mundane shit.

A good example of non-official Chinese records are Zupu (Clan Registers.) Basically some close knit clans in China has a great fat book in a village which records the names of every child born in that clan, and some pages dedicated to the lifestory of prominent members

The grandest Zupu belong to Imperial clans with surnames like Zhu, Li, or Liu. The Li family alone has an encyclopedia listing the names of shitloads of people born into that clan.

Most Zupus are privately owned, though Imperial ones are in Museums.

There are geniuses who died too soon. But can you name people who lived too long and it would be better if they are just died instead of living like forever?

Even Chinese kids get taught in school that Mao should have died sooner and things would be better.

What happened to the Romano-British after the Anglo-Saxon invasions? Were they genocided, forced to migrate to Brittany or assimilated?
12 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>1074215

some stayed or went to ireland, some left and settled in large numbers in france and spain, but also migrated pretty much everywhere except SEA and the americas obviously
>>
>>1074215
They assimilated quite quickly. Remarkably quickly. I have a theory that they were so used to Roman rule that they were actually eager to just be ruled by the Saxons and stop being independent.
>>
>>1074215
They became Welsh, Scottish, and Manx.

Leaving the options open for graduate school and work/studying abroad, what are the kinds of careers in Anthropology of Religion?
5 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>1074123
1) Training further Anthropologists of Religion at a top tier research University.

2) Teaching at a community college (requires the same level of effort as 1, and you only discover you're this shit after 10 years of Doctoral work).

3) Dying for the church / the revolution in central America.
>>
You can study regional differences in reverence to corporate mascots during what will inevitably be your lifelong career at Micky D's.

Have fun!

How common was the use of firearms in Sengoku era Japan?
12 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
As common as the use of hyper weapons
>>
Thousands upon thousands of them were made. Nobunaga made them one of the most crucial parts of his army. He was however very wise to directly control the factories that produced them so his enemies could never get a hold of more than he had.

The Shimazu were also pretty famous for using guns by luring their opponents into crossfire. Satsuma became one of the leading gun manufacturers in Japan in the late Sengoku Jidai.

A fuck ton of firearms were used in the battle of Sekigahara. Also pretty sure it saw the first usage of cannons in Japan.
>>
We all know how by 1600's Japan was closed to all but even so, they used guns a lot, even though they made improvements on design (for example, lacquer boxes for hiding the wick from wind or rain), they never made/used/discovered flash powder they had trouble firing under humid conditions very up to the 1700's so many commanders didnt want them for being non practical.

Also the love for tradition played a major part in keeping traditional weapons over modern stuff

What does /his/ think about Distributism? It's an obscure economic ideology that was created in the late 19th and early 20th century by the Catholic Church which aimed to be a third alternative to Capitalism and Socialism
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>1073168
so obscure i no nothing about it
>>
Based on the tiny amount of study I've done it seems really incomplete. The Church was its primary driver, along with GK Chesterton and a variety of other Catholic intellectuals. It certainly doesn't seem to have the robust thought behind it that communism and capitalism have.

That said, as a Catholic myself I'm naturally intrigued. I think it's still sort of lying there waiting for someone with the right intellectual rigor to more thoroughly flesh it out. Maybe that will happen now in the age of Francis.

Utopianism of the anarchist variety and one that could only be introduced and maintained in our time with great violence - which is why given its origins is more a curiosity rather than a serious proposal.

Whats more our globalized and technolgical advanced economy has destroyed the standards and expecations that could allow such a system to be viable
