The original Moors were a North African tribe the Romans encountered in present day Morocco. Since the initial settlers of the Arab conquest of Spain were mostly from North Africa with a small Arab leadership, the name got attributed to them even if some of these troops happened to be from Algiers, Tunisia, Syria, or Yemen. Over time as the conquerors began to assimilate into the Visigothic and Hispano-Roman population of Spain, the word Moor began to branch out to include any Muslim of whatever background found in southern Spain.

Thus you might find a subsaharan black african get called a Moor, but you could also find blonde, blue-eyed europeans also as Moors.

Personally I'd contend that hedonism is a pretty fundamental aspect of our neurology, due to the way the reward mechanisms of our mind work. It serves a purpose and pleasure should be generally preferred to pain. But temper this with an understanding that pleasure is neither good, nor pain evil. Some things that make you happy may destroy you, some things that bring you pain may make you great.

Way too broad a topic to say much in general. People have always been fucking a lot. Some places and times more than others. The modern era is not at either extreme.

The Victorians were notorious for being very sexually repressed outwardly, and complete animals in private. The slums of Paris were well known for being intensely hedonistic etc.

Really I don't think it has changed for most people at all throughout much of history: most plebians find a wife after a short childhood of plowing the local sows, bonk her and possibly have some extra-marital activities and die a mediocre man.

Terry Jones' Barbarians for the BBC in around 2006. You may have to torrent it like I did. It is a good look at the Roman interaction with the Celts and various barbarian tribes.

Generally he argues that the barbarians were civilised and wealthy. For example, the celts had roads, gold, and a lawful society overseen by the druids and the Romans stomped them to acquire gold and mineral mines. It is similar in Dacia. And they talk about Alaric and his tribal confederation sympathetically as refugees who wanted to be included in Rome. About six episodes in all.

FDR, whose presidential term started in 1933, had an economic plan called the New Deal which entailed several governmental programs and agencies that are still in use today (ie. Basically Bantu containment zones. Bantus who weren't wanted in SA proper could be deported to their home-'stan. They were generally shitholes with a very high population density.
