Why is there the popular perception that Rome fell due to some manner of 'degeneracy' eating away at its vitality?

Especially since the 'degeneracy' actually fell out of favor towards the late Imperial period with the rise of Christianity and the Christian Emperors and the banning of paganism. This is what is most puzzling: there are always Christcucks here who make threads about how supposedly "fucked" modern society is because we're "degenerate" (or some other buzzword) and then proceed to compare us to Rome and how degeneracy destroyed Rome, even though the Empire became increasingly weak, impotent, and even incompetent after the rise and the conversion to Christianity.

I genuinely want to know your opinion on how the pyramids, obelisks and other structures were built.
I believe that a lot of people undermine the power of human worksmanship and can't believe how the stones were moved or the statues carved so perfectly without modern tools.

Since the dawn of time Zika has been that missing link, the missing piece of evolutionary evidence that proves that evolution does not go in only one direction, but both, in some sort of balancing act. As long as we make ourselves better, we will waste, until eventually the Earth reaches an environment that can support it's scourge and it sets us back to the cave man days. Thusly the Earth maintains full homeostasis and the environmental threat of humans is taken away again. This has likely happened many times in our history.
