If Julius hadn't been shanked, would he have been a better, worse, or equivalent ruler to Augustus?

If he hadn't been shunk he may well have lived long enough to see rome become stable and give his princepts/dictator powers back to the senate and consuls and shit instead of his adopted boipucci. this by default would have made him a better ruler, although octavian was pretty brilliant. i wonder if rome would have benefitied from being a republic or if the overall economic benefits of the imperial system made life better...

Caesar was already 66 years old,
Augustus was about to succeed him either way. Nothing would have changed in the long run.

OP, probably te single best book you can read is "Tractatus Logico Philosophicus", by Wittgenstein. It's not really "heavy" math but based on your post, it should be plenty heavy for you, and it literally contains the other two things in your post.

Despite its big scary name, it isn't even long - it's all of 75 pages. Moreover, it's directly related to this >>1442010 and later results of Gödel, but the tractatus has the advantage that it can actually be read by a general audience and they can actually get something out of it if they try. Have fun!

I am doing family research and have noticed something interesting that has made my job much harder.

Was it common during WW2 for US citizens to suddenly change their birth country on official records? I have 8 family members that for decades had listed Germany, Switzerland, Austria and 1 who refers to his birthplace as Prussia over and over, then suddenly right between 1939-1940, they change their birthplace to things like Poland, 1 as "Denish" and 2 suddenly became Swiss, even though they had listed Germany for the better part of 30 years. Funny enough, the guy who listed Prussia, always kept Prussia, even during WW2.

What the deuce here guys?

Hatred for germans was pretty high during both world wars
They weren't put into concentration camps unlike japanese but were still hated

> Funny enough, the guy who listed Prussia, always kept Prussia, even during WW2
Probably because american people didn't have the capacity to figure out that Prussia was part of Germany
>>
How do I do this? I have a family tree with around 20-30 registered births/deaths of my family, but how do I check the validity and go back even further? The document which outlines my tree has many sources all listed in a bibliography, complete with a coat of arms, including descriptor and which family it would have been awarded to.

Huh that looks like "Ben Ri Da" which I think should mean like "Da Ri Ben" or something, or big Japan in Chinese. My Chinese is rusty. If we go by the same rules the other part should read "Zhao He Shi San Nian" which means something thirteen years. Sorry my Chinese sucks. I think this might actually be Japanese.
>>
>>1440260
I'm only beginning Japanese, but from what I can make out it says Nihondai、sensanjyu. Can't make out the last characters, but the first one is Shi - to know.
Japan Big Year Thirteen something. But the Big Japan makes me think it's Chinese.

Dont know, but you should do some reading on the Venetian and Genoese banking families, often known as Europes "Black Nobility". The Guelphes are one such dynasty. These families bankrolled the Amsterdam Central Bank, Dutch East India Company and made Britain into the financial merchant banking powerhouse that became the "British" Empire. Rothschilds too.

How come this idea become popular among other nations?
China saw everyone that weren't Hua as Barbarians, what made other Nations decided to accept this worldview?
I do know that different rulers did not see themselves as barbarians and claimed themselves Equals of the Chinese Emperor, and that they were as civilized as China.(While the rest was Barbarians, except China <3)
Yet they tried hard as they could to adopt Chinese customs, goverment and culture just to claim that equal footing, if not claim the title "little brother of China" or "little China".

Why would any elites allowed themselves to be cucked, and why did no one claim superiority over China? And no, "WE ARE THE TRUE SUCCESSOR OF CHINESE CIVILIZATION" does not count as an act of superiority, espesially when you remove the claim when a new Chinese "Han" Dynasty emerges

Granted this was before Nationalism so they didn't give a shit.

Because China had a huge army that could crush them if they really wanted to.

second because Chinese technology, literary culture and everything else was often genuinely more advanced than their neighbors, at least during the early period
>>

>Why would any elites allowed themselves to be cucked, and why did no one claim superiority over China?
The Japanese certainly did or at least viewed China as a equal early on.

To Sinicized cultures civilization was synonymous with Sinic culture.

You might as well ask why Germanic speakers claimed to be legitimate successors of Rome.

Hey /his/,
Are there any good documentaries, videos or books on the genealogy of Jesus? I mean like looking in depth at each person. I would love to learn more about some of the lesser known men. Both genealogy of Luke and Matthew are fine.

Can there ever be a feminist interpretation of Sunni Islam? Has this been done?
3 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I know this is way less in depth than what you're after, but no and as far as I'm aware - no.

There are certainly movements that call for a less strict interpretation when it comes to women though. For example, no Quranic verse actually calls for the burqa - it just calls for women to show 'modesty' - and there's a fairly identical passage calling on men to display modesty as well (24:30 and 24:31).

But for a version that might align with western concepts of feminism? I can't see how its possible, you'd have to interpret things so loosely and shake it up that it wouldn't be sunni Islam anymore.
>>
Absolutely

One Muslim feminist in particular, Hassan, has some fantastic arguments on the egalitarian nature of the Qur'an. I can upload the pdf later today if you're interested

>>1439049
It depends on how you view western feminism.

Could Communism return to Russia? Also, is this biography of Stalin a historically reliable read? I'm studying the history of Russian communism this semester at uni and I'd like to do some surplus reading.

If you want some surplus reading on how Stalin rose to power and a great depection of his personal life and how it changed over time I'd recommend The Red Tsar by Simon Sebag Montefiore.
Communism is pretty dead in this day and age, the chances for it to return outright are pretty much nill. Many of the same people are still in power though.
Can't comment on the book as I haven't read it.
>>
>>1438494
Yes, the communist party of the Russian Federation is the second biggest party in Russia.

Ironically given the 4chan perspective of global politics it's probably more likely to return to Russia than to come for the first time to anywhere in the western world.

Hello /his/
I once came across a quote by a high ranking Nazi official, maybe it was Hitler himself, maybe it was Goebbels, Idk.

The quote was a comment on the subject of racial purity, and went something like this: "germans are white in the winter and brown in the summer. it is not about skin color it is about blood."

Does anyone know what the actual quote is, and who said it? Hard Mode: the original German pre-translation?
