recommending Joyeux Noel for the holiday season. it's about the christmas truces in WWI and draws from a lot of real accounts from soldiers about the truces and the general camaraderie that developed in some stretches of the battle lines during the war.
what are you watchan /his/?
The World at War is always great. Among the best ww2 documentaries there are.
Any good films about the Victorian era? I really liked Zulu.
>>2109819
'The Great War' is probably the best among the WWI docs
Aren't you lutheran yet?
I was raised Lutheran but desu I find Calvinism more appealing and sensible.
Because i'm Episcopalian, though i've been considering going full Catholic.
Waldo > Luther
How different would history be if dragons were real (the flying, firebreathing, talking kind).
>>2125979
I think there would not be history at all,
We would be destroyd centuries ago.
>>2125985
hardly there's plenty of huge predators that could have wiped out humanity if they existed in great numbers everywhere but predators exist in intentionally small numbers in nature.
History would be different because man would have tamed and harnessed them
>>2125994
most large predators cant fly or breath fire, not to speak about having human level intelligence
>"Okay guys it was a really funny joke and all but seriously untie me, I want to go score with those siren babes."
>>2125893
>aquatic sirens
Plebs, all of them. I'll never understand what made people change the siren from bird to fish.
>>2125893
>I'll use my dick to make them stop fucking screeching.
>>2125922
Was about to post that. It had nothing to do with them being fish babes. Sirens were winged women whose magic song attracted men. They sang well. That's it. And they looked like pigeon women.
At some point I guess they got mixed up with mermaids in people's minds.
How do vegans and other animal rights people view insects?
Some gross, some cool some kind of pretty.
>>2125820
Depends on the vegan. Most seem to prefer not harming them unless necessary. I know generally they are against eating honey. My sister lived in a vegan co-op for a while and at one point there was a flea infestation and a lot of them were arguing to not hurt the fleas but eventually they voted to kill the fleas.
>>2125831
If they were real vegans, they should've stuck to their beliefs and allowed themselves to live a little less comfortably thanks to the fleas.
>tfw night of the long knives
>>2125770
Röhm did nothing wrong.
Hitler betrayed the movement.
>>2125770
>tfw strasser will never lead the 3rd reich
The night of long knives was neither a night, nor long, nor employed knives.
>ITT: /his/ in 1945
Ahh victory for the motherland
>>2125710
He done something right?
>be blacks in Africa
>defeat rival tribes in battle, sell their men into slavery
>make deals with Europeans, ensuring your semi-rule of a colony in exchange for swearing allegiance to the empire.
>get European education, European wealth, administration positions and generally well off.

How can Blacks in Africa not have an aura of superiority over Black Americans and other less civilized (commie) Black Africans?
Ethiopeans despise afro-american culture.
>>2125673
1) iFricans live in poor countries. Blacks live in the US. Kinda hard to feel superior when you eat once a day while Jatwaun Latoya Jenkins is as big as a house.
2) They actually do. One African country in the former Slave Coast have a slur for African Americans which translates to "Lost Cats."
>>2125677
Ethiopians aren't real Africans
how do I get a qt gf into history

Why even live?
Idk, better play video games and watch YouTube.
>>2125415
I'm a technical writer for a mid size software computer and make 60k with a history degree
Maybe you're just retarded
>>2125476
You work for a mid-sized computer? That must be interesting. Do you think computers make better bosses than organics?
Is the extreme right and extreme left's opposition to "globalization" the best argument for the horseshoe theory?
its more like they are pandering to the fringe who have been hit hardest by globalism.
>>2125360
No
> horseshoe theory
Can you prove anything in philosophy?
>>2125278
no
that's why its a bullshit soft 'science' like psychology and social 'sciences'
>>2125278
Things can be "proven" (concluded without any doubt) only in closed, dogmatic systems like logics and mathematics with stone-set axioms taken without doubt. Otherwise they fall into the problem of induction. We can assume things with a degree of certainity (enough to be useful), but never actually and doubtlessly know them.
>>2125288
Science a subset of philosophy
Historically speaking, how successful terrorism was? Was there well targeted assassination or violent act against common men that advanced perpetrator's goals?
>>2125259
As hideous and unpleasant this might sound, recent acts of Islamic terrorism were/are probably necessary for the Western world to understand that they can no longer just shit on an entire culture. These rare moments of terror became everyday life in many areas of the MENA region partially thanks to Western governments and the ordinary citizens seem to be completely oblivious of this fact. This doesn't fit into the 25 year rule though.
>>2125372
> This doesn't fit into the 25 year rule though.
Terrorism existed for centuries.
>>2125259
No. Terrorism sends a message: "Do not to fuck with us".
It usually ends in the target group fucking with the terrorists more.
