I fucked up, /g/.

I opened my case and swapped my old 6 GB RAM setup for the new 16GB one, then closed it and booted up.

Except now the fucking screen goes NO HDMI SIGNAL and goes to sleep right away. No Windows boot, no nothing, just that message.

I tried with the old RAM, I tried to access BIOS (doesn't let me), I'm honestly at my wits' end, such as they are. And I don't even understand what the fuck happened.

Could you please help a fellow anon out?

Boot down, take out power cable, remove battery from mobo for about 30 seconds.

Insert battery again and try to boot again.

If same problem persists, try to boot with just 1 stick in the ram slots.

Also, if running a GPU, disconnect it and plug into motherboard to see if you can just get it to post.

It would help to know what kind of hardware were dealing with here.

Even if I had the money I wouldn't waste it on watercooling because it requires more maintenance, has a tiny chance of critical failure and it's louder

Might anyone know much about or be able to recommend monitors which are known to be especially easy on your eyes?

I'm pretty naive to screen technology so I don't know if I'm imagining a type of screen that effectively doesn't "blast your retina with light" as much as others.

I recently switched from my laptop screen to an external Viewsonic. I immediately felt less strain behind my left eye and a drop off in my headaches after working long periods. I'm just wondering if there's more to know about this.

if on a desktop, you can use a 1080p IPS monitor. they're really cheap now. I have a 21.5 inch asus one I got for $130 new.

Ok, so I think I have just solved a problem with an arduino project that I have been stuck on for 2 weeks, and I still dont understand why the problem was there in the first place. The only reason I was able to figure out what the problem was was because I used a simulator that lets me track the program flow one line at a time, and keep track of the pinstates and variables as well in real time.

Basically, I had this:
(have changed the name assigned to the pin because "inWire" probably doesnt mean anything to anyone)

if (digitalRead(digitalPin_5) == HIGH) {
// run code "x"
}

What was happening in the simulator was it would run the if statement, and then would ALWAYS run code "x" regardless of the pinstate of digitalPin_5.

I changed it to

digitalPin_5_Value = digitalRead(digitalPin_5);
if (digitalPin_5_Value == true) {
// run code "x"
}

(<digitalPin_5_Value> is a bool, initially defined as false in the setup)

and now it works as intended. only running x when the pin is HIGH.

What I dont understand is why it didnt work before? Those two things should do exactly the same thing as far as I can tell. Obviously they don't, but I cant figure out why. Anyone have any ideas?

Also, general arduino thread, because I dont see any others right now.

Can you please post the code between the tags
[code'] and [/code] (minus the ' ) so I can actually look at the code?
>>
>>56469529
Actually, I might have just found my problem. in the beginning of the code, before the setup, I had written

const int digitalPin_5 = 5;

intending for this to mean that pin 5 would be named "digitalPin_5" (again, in the actual code, it was named "inWire" which makes sense in context, but it involves about 2.5 years of backstory on my project, so I wont go into it unless someone Really wants to know)

In the setup, it was also defined as an input with pinMode();
>>
>>56469586
sure (never knew how to do that)

original that ALWAYS runs "x"

 if (digitalRead(digitalPin_5) == HIGH) {
// run code "x"
}

new improved version that works so far

 digitalPin_5_Value = digitalRead(digitalPin_5);
if (digitalPin_5_Value == true) {
// run code "x"
}

where digitalPin_5_Value is a bool.

Android is ok when you're poor and immature using it for: ricing for fun, sharing files like a good criminal and generally acting like a cYboR haCK3r with your redundant file browser and cli on a phone. Once you graduate to grown-up, non-neet status you get a comfy iPhone.
