Is this the best browser?
>>57062618
Nah. It's an okay fork with better privacy settings, but that's it.
>>57062618
That would be google ultron.
Ungoogled-chromium works better and doesn't send pings anywhere
Whats the deal with pic related ? Why do people shill is here ?
>>57062615
You really have no idea what the word shill even means, do you?
>>57062615
Because it's impressive that one man made an entire OS by himself over a decade and terry on twitter is funny, you can't deny that.
>>57062615
Because it is a covenant, like circumcision.
And we all know /g/ is bunch of jews.
>mfw Americans whine about a 1TB data cap
They complain about everything
Remember that Forbes or WSJ 'article' about how chip and pin takes too long and that it wastes something like 60-90 minutes of your life each year ?
Because data caps are absurd? Yep, fair enough.
>>57062570
Do Americans not have paywave yet?
you think they'll ever be able to sync open world games with google earth so you can actually walk around and drive in a world that resembles the real world?
>>57062553
San Andreas isn't open source.
>>57062553
Hopefully not. The real world looks like garbage.

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

>half open X220 slides off of my bed
>the shitty plastic rf window on the lid is now creaking
Do I waste money on a new lid or hold out until Kaby Lake business laptops come out?
if everything goes smoothly I'll soon get a t420
is the 850 EVO msata a good SSD for it?
is there a point upgrading from 4gb of ram to 8 if I intend to use w10?
is the usb 3.0 expresscard useful or just a waste of money?
is there anything else i should consider doing/upgrading for the t420?
This seems like it belongs in the stupid questions general, but here goes. Would a sata III ssd work in a t61? I don't intend on getting a new laptop right away, but it would be nice to get a ssd that I can just swap into it when I do. I assume it would, just at sata I or sata II speeds if I upgrade the bios, but I'd rather not get something I can't use. Or get a sata II and have to waste money on another ssd when I get a sata III compatible laptop.
I went and deleted everything I didn't need, leaving only a few games and miscellaneous things on my hard drive yet I'm still missing 700gigs of space somehow. Am I retarded or am I overlooking shitty bloatware? Any tips are welcomed.

Did you actually empty your bin?
Try to find the heaviest folder and investigate.

Spacemonger. Use it.
Use a program like spacesniffer
Hello, /g/. I have a few questions to ask.
1. How do I get to an expert level in competitive programming? (You can assume I'm a beginner with no previous experience.)
2. What kind of mathematics do I need to excel in programming? (You can also assume I'm learning basic mathematics and I'm in highschool) Pic related is considered a god in competitive programming and he's very good at mathematics.
Thank you.
Try to solve programming challenges without looking at the solutions.
Top coder, project Euler, code chef, Advent of code, codeforces should cover almost everything.
Just pick a problem, and start thinking how you could solve it. You don't know a concept, search it on Google. But don't look at the solutions unless you've already solved the problem, or given up after a few days.
Also, read CLRS.

This is the only case i know about ISP calling to change wifi name. Fucking spooky.

I'm calling bullshit cause I've had mine called NSA dataserver since the snowden leaks

Is this the return of classic thinkpadesque laptops?
I want you to die. No joke, sarcasm, or irony. Please just cease all functions.

If you don't
Can we please get some gaming laptops that dont look like a michael bay transformer?
What's the best VPN service (paid) out there? I don't want a free one for obvious reasons.
Ideally: a service that encrypts my home WiFi so any device that connects to my network is covered and a mobile app that covers my mobile network.
I've done some research but I'm retarded when it comes to technology and every website seems like they're getting paid to push a specific product.
Thanks!
>>57062028
PIA. Buy it now.
I use Private Internet Access. Despite the generic name they seem pretty legit.
I managed to lock myself out of my own Internet with the kill switch once so be careful with that.

>>57061923
force touch will solve this problem too in the new iphone
Actually if you disassemble pretty much any phone, it always looks like the battery takes the most space. I'm sure if it got removed, the spaced could be reused for more important components (such as taptic engine). It's 2016, most people carry powerbanks anyway, so there is no reason to have an internal battery these days.

Nice
Do you prefer window buttons on the left or right?
i don't care
>>57061723
right because I'm not a retarded macuck
>>57061723
I've used keyboard shortcuts for so long that this has become a non-issue for me. Even with non-tiling window managers, like on my Mac, I'll set up keyboard shortcuts for these things.
As long as the shortcuts are on my left hand I can just point at any window with the cursor and do the shortcut. I'm currently using CapsLock+C for close.
