>linux is free
lmao
>>57455632
fucking retard bsd shill. you just want to oppress the users' users freedoms just like playstation and macos do.
>>57455632
are you implying taking away freedom from proprietary software users is better Rohan complying with the gpl
>>57455632
Why does BSD attracts cucks so much?
>Use BSD license
Companies steal code, closes it off and tells you to fuck yourself
>BSD User-Developer experience
Literally get hacked by own Project leader :^)
>Placebo security
Un-audited ports, Nothing else runs in BSD without ports
>Compatibility
Some BSD cannot even have non-free codec packs. Not many proprietary software and drivers run on *BSD, specially OpenBSD. Many Realtek and Broadcom devices will never run because of its non-free only drivers.
>NO active development
Except for PC-BSD, there is no live *BSD desktop. OpenBackdoor removed Linux compatibility AND WINE. BSD market share is not rising.
>Less softwares than Linux
Cannot even perform Vt-d virtualization on windows guests. (Good for nothing). Behyve is miles behind KVM/QEMU.
>Community
Non-existent.
Few buttflustered autists that mostly comprise of mactoddlers (OSX is BSD :-DDDDDD).
FreeBSD is actually getting better though. I hope PC-BSD catches on but their primary goal is to fight own BSD counterparts' autistic community.
>Documentation
FreeBSD wiki has a good documentation but lacks contents.
>OpenBSD
OpenBackdoor is specially the meme of BSD community. It;'s a freetard BSD (Not even freetard Linux, that's less autism). No ZFS, no MAC, no jails, no non-free drivers, no non-free codecs, no non-free softwares, no Vt-d virtualization, no Linux compatibility, no WINE, project leader is a hostile autist that never grew out of teenage edge, no security in ports, non-existent community.
I am aware that many people use OpenBSD for nothing more than a router, and for this it indeed ideal. For the use of a router, extended access controls would not provide much benefit. I wrote this argument however because many people seem convinced that OpenBSD has suerior security in all instances and including as a network server or user operating system.
Which monitor to get?
Thinking about getting a second monitor, similar to the one i have which is the lg 34um67. I'm looking for an ultrawide 21:9 1440p monitor with at least 100hz. Not sure if i should go with a curved display or not.
I'm using a gtx1070 which i love. But this 60hz monitor is killing me in games. I get a lot of tearing until i turn on vsync. Although i can't utilize the 1070 when im capping my frame rate at 60fps. I've also noticed that in BF1 especially, moving around isn't as smooth as i'd like.
Right now, im thinking about getting the Acer XR341CK bmijpphz.
Im looking in all price ranges for now. I just wanna see what's out there if anyone can help.
No.

I want a job in IT.
I have an A+
What else do I need?
>>57455442
>What else do I need?
Actual competence (not just certificates)
>>57455442
a degree in anything that doesn't end in "studies" and a certificate or two is enough to get you started
>>57455453
I know this isn't really saying much since I'm on /g/, but I passed the A+ without studying, and I've been fucking around with computers for most of my life so far.
I'm trying to apply to help desk jobs but I ran into a field technician who is trying to help me break into the field another way. He's being extremely helpful to me and wants to take me along with him on some jobs and I couldn't be more thankful, but I don't want to have to rely on him to get me a job.
I just don't know where to go from here. My only equipment is a few tools and my desktop computer itself. I have literally no idea where to go from here.
I'm a fucking mong when it comes to computer parts, so i need someone to hold my hand. can my shitter laptop play this game
Minimum CPU: Processor: Intel Core i5-650 @ 3.20GHz, or AMD FX-7500 APU, 2.1Ghz.
>I have: AMD A6-5200 APU with Radeon(TM) HD Graphics
Minimum video card: nVIDIA GeForce GT 440, 1GB or AMD Radeon HD 5670, 1GB or Intel HD 5000 series.
>I have: AMD Radeon HD 8400 / R3 Series
>>57455432
You can't simply go to a cpu and/or GPU comparison website, compare each and at the very least see if the pretty numbers are close?
>>57455454
ok, what does any of this mean? i need my hand held because this is a foreign language to me.
I FUCKING LOVE THIS PROGRAM!!! SO COMFY AF!!! How do you use it /g/? I'm so hyped for no reason

I actually agree this program is comfy.
Too bad it doesn't have a shit load of plugins and features other debuggers have.

Literally fucking kill yourself faggot this program is awesome. Eat shit you fucking stink brain! lololOLOLOL OMGGGGGG YEYYYESSSSSSSSS
What did you use to get your cert? How long ago did you get your cert?
I've gotta get it for a job I'm lined up for. I'll be reimbursed for the test and materials I use to study for it. What does /g/ recommend?
I have it it's worthless.
>>57455444
Getting one is literally a requirement for a job I have already accepted. I have to have it to get the job.

Is GNU/Linux a better choice than Mac or Windows for a student?
>>57455337
>Missouri
>journalism
t0pcuck
>>57455337
Depends on your field of study ie keep a windows partition if you need autocad or whatever
>>57457460
Basically this.
It is a better choice if software is available for it. Windows is best because of it's software library.
Mac OS is for those who sit there bragging about it.
Like anon above said, if you really want to run GNU/Linux, do it but keep a Windows partition ready just in case

Hey /g/, I've been a computer kinda guy for quite a few years now, but recently I used grabify to snag an internet friends IP address, I wanna trace it to trip him out a little bit, but I've never tried to trace an IP before, so I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to pinpoint trace an IP, legally or not. I'm open to all suggestions. Thanks /g/

You can use the highly illegal and dangerous `nmap` tool which basically searches for vulnerabilities and gives you access to them
be warned though, don't nmap stupid shit like google or you WILL go to jail
Please help me. My computer took a big ol shit yesterday, It'll turn on for like a split second then shut off again. I think it was my motherboard. But could quite possibly be my PSU.
Anyways, in the case that it is my motherboard i need to get it replaced but I bought it from a friend who said he got it in a package deal.
Its an ASUS 990fx crosshair that came with an AMD 8350 and 32g of RAM
Would I alone be able to call ASUS or wherever he got it from and get the motherboard replaced or would I have to do it with my friend?
Also another question would i be able to run a 970 and an AMD 8350 on a regular 430w PSU? My previous one was 600w but I've yet to figure out if it shit the bucket and ive had this other psu lying around for awhile. Its a corsair cx430
Sorry for the wall of text and thanks!

Please
I didn't read that
I'm designing a shitty 8-bit computer from scratch, and one of my friends wants graphics. I figured I could do this, there are 2062 bytes of RAM up for use by programs, so I figured I'd be able to spare the 384 bytes he wanted for 64x48 black and white composite out.
However, after looking into it a bit, I've realized something important... I have no idea what I'm doing.
I need to convert the 8 bit words into a signal 8 times per line with 48 lines, and generate sync, blanking, and some lazy bits to get a more even resolution on the screen, then combine them into a signal I can send into the composite input of a television.
I know how the signals on both ends work, but I'm not sure how I'd even start with this.
I can get all the details for the computer you might need, but the graphics hardware is up for change right now. I'm not looking for fast video, just any video at all. The whole screen is bitmapped to pixels on the canvas bit-for-bit, with no header or footer. To draw to this canvas, you write to addresses 512-896 in extended memory.
To find the correct pattern, you draw the pixels in a set of 8 columns made up of 8 pixel wide blocks, which represent the video signal you want to generate. You then translate the pixels to binary (X.X.X.X. is 170). It then needs to be sequentially drawn to the screen.
Ideas? Questions?
Pic unrelated, grabbed Wikipedia's drawing of a composite signal.
Google "vga fpga", that should give you some pointers on how to generate analog video signals using combinational logic.

While this is great - I'm not running from an SD card and the only computer connected to the computer is used as a serial terminal.
I'm building this with 74xx logic chips and 2Nxxxx transistors primarily.
Idea: would some kind of high speed shifting to shift the bits into the correct position for output with a counter work?
Need help here /g. (Yes ik the processor is not gr8)
Will that processor work in this motherboard?
Or would this one be better?
It won't work in either. Just get a sandy vagina i5 and asus Mobo.
