Which monitor to get?
Thinking about getting a second monitor, similar to the one i have which is the lg 34um67. I'm looking for an ultrawide 21:9 1440p monitor with at least 100hz. Not sure if i should go with a curved display or not.
I'm using a gtx1070 which i love. But this 60hz monitor is killing me in games. I get a lot of tearing until i turn on vsync. Although i can't utilize the 1070 when im capping my frame rate at 60fps. I've also noticed that in BF1 especially, moving around isn't as smooth as i'd like.
Right now, im thinking about getting the Acer XR341CK bmijpphz.
Im looking in all price ranges for now. I just wanna see what's out there if anyone can help.

I know this isn't really saying much since I'm on /g/, but I passed the A+ without studying, and I've been fucking around with computers for most of my life so far.
I'm trying to apply to help desk jobs but I ran into a field technician who is trying to help me break into the field another way. He's being extremely helpful to me and wants to take me along with him on some jobs and I couldn't be more thankful, but I don't want to have to rely on him to get me a job.
I just don't know where to go from here. My only equipment is a few tools and my desktop computer itself. I have literally no idea where to go from here.

Please help me. My computer took a big ol shit yesterday, It'll turn on for like a split second then shut off again. I think it was my motherboard. But could quite possibly be my PSU.
Anyways, in the case that it is my motherboard i need to get it replaced but I bought it from a friend who said he got it in a package deal.
Its an ASUS 990fx crosshair that came with an AMD 8350 and 32g of RAM
Would I alone be able to call ASUS or wherever he got it from and get the motherboard replaced or would I have to do it with my friend?
Also another question would i be able to run a 970 and an AMD 8350 on a regular 430w PSU? My previous one was 600w but I've yet to figure out if it shit the bucket and ive had this other psu lying around for awhile. Its a corsair cx430

I'm designing a shitty 8-bit computer from scratch, and one of my friends wants graphics. I figured I could do this, there are 2062 bytes of RAM up for use by programs, so I figured I'd be able to spare the 384 bytes he wanted for 64x48 black and white composite out.
However, after looking into it a bit, I've realized something important... I have no idea what I'm doing.
I need to convert the 8 bit words into a signal 8 times per line with 48 lines, and generate sync, blanking, and some lazy bits to get a more even resolution on the screen, then combine them into a signal I can send into the composite input of a television.
I know how the signals on both ends work, but I'm not sure how I'd even start with this.
I can get all the details for the computer you might need, but the graphics hardware is up for change right now. I'm not looking for fast video, just any video at all. The whole screen is bitmapped to pixels on the canvas bit-for-bit, with no header or footer. To draw to this canvas, you write to addresses 512-896 in extended memory.
To find the correct pattern, you draw the pixels in a set of 8 columns made up of 8 pixel wide blocks, which represent the video signal you want to generate. You then translate the pixels to binary (X.X.X.X. is 170). It then needs to be sequentially drawn to the screen.
Ideas? Questions?
