Broadcom Wi-Fi simply doesn't work in Linux properly.
Sorry.
Use Ethernet.
>>
Gonna have to use ethernet to get the drivers, or install the package from a USB drive
>>
to get my broadcom working I always just run broadcom-wl-dkms

I want to write a web service in C/C++. It seems trivial to parse HTTP headers with sscanf. Should I make my own server using sockets and GnuTLS instead of using Apache and CGI?

>>
Short answer, no.
>>
>>57502668
> C/C++
Use nodejs/express or Java/Spring Boot instead.

> Should I make my own server using sockets and GnuTLS
If you want to experience low level fun go for it, but you will soon begin to understand why people prefer Java and nodejs, both from the development perspective and especially from the deployment perspective.

It's a pity you've never used a genuinely well-built machine to think anything recent is "good"

althought i hate threads like this, i too want to hear some advices. i've been fiddling around with php and javascript for too long and i need to do some stuff that those two can't do. all the python tutorials i found on the internet are beginner tier and after 20 lessons, they still show stuff like defining variables and shit which makes me close the page every fucking time. are there any tuts for those who knows about programming?

does linux not respect BIOS CPU overclock settings?

BIOS cpu freq 4.14 GHz
Windows shows 4.14 GHz
Linux shows:

> $ sudo cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/cpuinfo_cur_freq

3468000

that's the cpu's stock clock of 3.47 GHz
wtf? is linux lying to me or is the cpu not running at full clock? this is during 100% cpu workload
21 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>57502240
Maybe Linux just identifies or from the cpu model and not the actual clockrate?

Have you tried other methods?
>>
>>57502267

tried CPU-Z in Windows

trying to figure out how to get actual current cpu frequency in Linux
>>
>>57502354
>cpuinfo_cur_freq
That's your current frequency, not your overclocked frequency.

Try checking what steppings you have to see the max frequency if there's no option for cpuinfo_max_freq

Why is the Xbox one controller so mediocre? I had one for about a month, I dropped it yesterday on the soft carpet on my floor and the USB has been glowing orange. If it's broken then microsoft needs to step their shit up. If it's not broken and something is my fault can someone tell me? Don't want to blame god emperor microsoft for something I messed up with.

My controller works fine after dropping it on the hard wooden floor.

You're just unlucky, things tend to break when dropped
>>
Controllers became weak as fuck last gen.

Dualshock 3 was weak as fuck and had analog sticks made out of cheese that grated away as you used it.

360 controllers came with a broken dpad and often fucked up as time went on.

The components and build quality got cheaper as time went on as well compare an original dualshock 3 or xbox 360 controller with a new one and the difference is massive.

Controllers are getting weaker and weaker.

>Tfw ps1 controller is still like new
>ps2 controllers still like new
>xbox controllers still like new

Nintendo made weak analog sticks from the beginning though.

Point is I'm pretty sure they're skimping out on quality materials and also making the design weaker for more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I know, literally dropping something on soft carpet shouldn't dead it. Especially Microsoft, wouldn't they have some dignity and make good controllers? That controller was 70 dollars down the drain.

Computer science isn't about skill anymore. Its just about unskilled hipsters pushing political agendas and people depending on stack overflow. Should I just learn a trade like electrical engineering or something before this meme becomes oversaturated and drives down my future wages?

Take a couple of assembler and Calculus or linear algebra or w/e math modules. Then you proceed to shit all over their world, because all they understand is Javascript or HTML.

As for the subject of politics. Im not getting into that here.

CRT is a much better technology than LCD.

1) Perfect black levels
2) Flawless off-axis viewing
3) Much faster refresh rate than LCD
4) Warmer, more natural image (thanks to scan lines and small granules)
5) Far longer life-span
6) Not subject to manufacture problems such as dead-pixels
7) Good range of compatibility with lower or non-standard resolutions without blurring

Given ultimate space and money the world's best CRT could easily crush the world's best LCD. So tell me /g/, why do you like your inferior screens that companies such as Samsung have brainwashed you to think is better than what already existed? The only cost-savings are on their end.

And the funny thing is you guys keep buying this crappy LCD technology and giving away your free CRTs on Craigslist. A fool and his dollar are soon parted I guess.

And before you start yapping about IPS panels:
Enjoy your slow G2G response to switch pixels already, not to mention that hidden input and scalar lag. Luckily, CRT has no such bullshit.

The only semi-legitimate point I've heard against CRTs regards weight, but you don't bitch about the weight of a prospective couch while furniture shopping, do you? Didn't think so.
