Which field of technology should I learn? I want to be colossally wealthy by developing the the next generation system that changes the world. I have no clue how I am going to do that... but which field would be most conducive to realizing that objective? Computer Science...Information Technology... Computer Engineering ??
Bump much??

>you didn't need to make this thread faggot

ew I can smell you, you fat fuck
Hi /g/!
Long story short, I used to use and x220, and then i switched to a w530 (quad-core, 8 thread, fhd)
I am now typing this post on an x220 and am so much tempted to buy an x220 again.
I can give away my W530 for about 500€, and get an X220, 16GB ram and an SSD.
Should i go for it, /g/ ?
>>59312978
Fuck no
Get both, an X220 can be had for 100 to 150 (your monopoly money here)
>>59313071
But why having two laptops if only one is sufficient ?
>>59313173
one is light and portable the other is a large somewhat heavy workstation computer.
If LG bootloops are from bad solder joints? What's to stop you from just putting the motherboard in the oven or pointing a heat gun at it?
Pic unrelated.
>>59312665
The ic chips get damaged from the joints playing tiddlywinks , you can reheat it but your just reflowing shitty solder on a damaged chip, your beast bet is to replace the CPU, witch between labor difficulty and cost of materials the phone quickly gets totaled out, you'd at least have to reball the chip
>>59313698
This. Put a heatgun on my g4 CPU at 250°C and it still bootlooped. Put it up to 400°C but the fucking lacquer on the old chair I was heating it on cracked and caused a short on the underside of the board, so it is no more. Lg quoted me $300 to fix it and I paid $500 for it so it was a write off.
>>59313869
Jesus Christ who would seriously pay that much?
>have old Buffalo wireless g router
>test with wget, receive 2,29 MB/s
>install a wireless n card into small pc, install pfSense
>even buy a USB to ethernet adapter because pc has only one lan
>shud be gud oh boy
>receive 3,84 MB/s
meh/5
And it doesn't fit into my switch cabinet either. I guess Buffalo with DD-WRT is fine after all
>>59312570
Should had bought a Xiaomeme router and become part of the chink botnet
What's the "recommended" way of setting up local dns on pfsense? Would dnsmasq work?
>>59312570
you need 2 physical Ethernet ports even a usb 3.0 gigabit Ethernet adapter is shit
source: I run HP thin clients as Pfsence routers at home and in 3 businesses
How the hell is Intel suppose to compete with THIS!!!!!

I don't have too much hardware so it's just the manufacturer.
I'm not into that weird shit where people put down the names of stars or other cosmic stuff.

What job do you have? Do you like it?
I'm about to graduate and I don't know if I should settle for some of these smaller companies. I know if I spend the next 2 months applying myself I could land a job or an internship at redhat or amazon or somewhere. CGI offered me a job but the location is somewhere where I don't want to live. Fusion 360 may offer me a job. BB&T may very well offer me a job but it would be as a Security Analyst, looking at other peoples code, not developing.
I don't know if I should wait or take one of these jobs. I could just review data structures, polish my capstone project and go for one of these bigger interviews. I want to get a job where I can stay there the rest of my life.
fuck fidelity
>>59311796
Literally who? Those companies probably pay peanuts because I've never heard of them.
Apply for big companies like Facebook/Microsoft/Apple/Google.

>>59311823
EXACTLY
I don't mind getting payed low as long as its going to be worth my time to work and develop more skills there
cgi pays nothing, cardinal, fusion 360, t metrics
Fuck them all? Why would I waste myself on these companies?
>>59311843
fuck of neet
what exactly are "third-party cookies" and why should I disable them?
https://google.com/search?q=what+are+third+party+cookies
Cookies so bad nobody wanted to eat them at the first two parties.
You shouldn't, unless you're a mouth-breathing autistic neckbeard, and in that case you should just kill yourself.
I feel like there would be a lot of merit in creating a linear guide for people to deeply study various topics in computer science and web development.
It's no secret that many schools suck balls at teaching useful and practical skills. Half of my professors are 50 years old and their mindsets are stuck in the 90's. One of my Python courses 6 months ago had us learning Python 2.5 for god's sake.
So, /g/ - if you had to create the ultimate self-learning guide for those interested in becoming insanely productive, god-like engineers, how would that guide look like?
Potential topics could include:
1.) Languages (C, C++, Java, Python, Haskell, etc.)
2.) Algorithms
3.) Any necessary math(s)
4.) Hardware and PC troubleshooting
5.) Networks and network programming
6.) Server management

What distro is this?
Don't even bother trying to use that distro, its busted.
what did he mean by this?
I have an LG 442 BG. It's pretty good, but the one thing I don't like is you can only send 9 photos via bluetooth at a time.
Also curious about this, looking to de-tech my life considerably but need a mobile for work
>>59311899
well what do you need from it
there's no "best dumbphone", define what you're seeking for
Nokia (both the old and the new) tends to be pretty good, good build + logical and simple menus. I personally prefer older models.

They are pretty much the only features I miss
